i went to the salon where i get my nails done to have my brazillian wax taken care of. usually i go to marsha nadalin's, but it normally requires scheduling in advance and i don't have a lot of time to play with. and i like anna, the lady who owns the nail salon, and she seemed knowledgable enough about the topic of waxing tha ti trusted my precious girly bits unto her.

and that was a large mistake, because tufts of hair still exist along my aloha (which is covered in first-degree burns). i had told her that i thought the wax was too hot, but she told me that my skin was just being sensitive and the wax needed to be hot in order to open the pores and really grip the hair. and i grinned and beared it and she directed a small fan towards my crotchal area to try cool the wax. but now my vulva is tender and pink like a very bad sunburn - an effect i never before encountered with previous brazillians.

and also, due to her agressive techniques, she pulled my bits apart too wide and managed to cut my skin up near my clitoris.

it's obvious that i want my money back, but does anyone else think i should take further action? come to think of it...i don't even know if anna is licensed to do things like brazillians in her salon. i'm just not sure what the next step should be, other than demanding a refund. comments are appreciated!

ahh one time my boyfriend pulled my bits too far apart, and that hurttttt. but the sunburnish feeling must be worse :/

hmm, well she owns the salon, so you can't like..talk to the manager or something i guess. maybe talk to someone from the health department and say how you had a bad experience and see if anyone else has complained. if they need a license for something like that..they could check it out and see if they actually have one. i dunno :/

well, if you get your nails done there and you like that service, you may not want to dampen the relationship.

on the other hand, you have the right to good service. if she's truly good at what she does (providing a service for people), she will understand that she did not provide the service that you paid for. you should not be required to pay for bad service, but maybe you can work something out where your next manicure is free or discounted. simply approach her in a respectful manner and, if she doesn't see where you're coming from, maybe she's not the one to be providing any kind of future service to you.

it tends to be a little easier than asking for your money back (especially when you're a wuss like i am).

Not sure about all states but in NY nail techs can't wax.. you have to have a cosmetology, esthetics, or special waxing license to wax people.

I'm sorry about your girly bits :\

I'd suggest going and talking to her.

I doubt anyone with a vagina would be ok with hurting someone elses :\

You've never been to Africa, have you?

The "women" over their do it to their daughters all the time; it's called female genital mutilation (FGM). It's a horrid, sick practice that's been going on for a looooooong time.

i think she was speaking in terms of "normal" people, excluding traditional/medical/moral practices...i am sorry for those in africa and places of the like, but i think it was a little off the wall to think of that by what kittenphish said...

None taken. :) I wasn't at all trying to be bitchy and I apologize if I came off that way. I didn't know you were just talking of waxing, although I probably should've, given the context of the post. Lol, have a good one, chica. Peace.

same with MA. nail techs CAN'T wax, but A LOT of them do. as a matter of fact, a lot of them don't even have licenses to do nails or they just BOUGHT the license to do nails. and granted, you hear this stuff on the news, but i have experience with it first hand (i'm a licensed esthetician). anyway, you can look up licenses online and find out if she is licensed to wax. if not, i would definitely file a complaint. she didn't even have to do anything WRONG for you to file a complaint if she's not licensed to wax.

but if she is licensed, i would go back to the shop and explain to her that you've had it done many times and you were burned and that's never happened before, and demand your money back.

How did you not say something to her right after before paying? This is sooooo not okay. Not only did she hurt you and not listen to you when you told her the wax was too hot, she didn't even do it right!

I do not think that you should have a problem getting your money back after that. She ripped your labia! And there is still hair where there isn't suppossed to be!

If you have a good relationship with her, she should be unwilling to risk it by keeping your money when you have very good reasons to be unhappy.

If she refuses or puts up a fuss, report her. Each city and state have licensing laws. If you can't find out how to get in contact with the right people, I would ask your normal Brazilian salon how to get in touch with the right people. You don't want her doing this to someone else!

Agreed. Go back and if needed strip off and SHOW her what she did. If she won't refund you the money ask for a free manicure or some other form of compensation and if she won't do that, I wouldn't go back there.

blackmail. threaten her with a major publicised lawsuit. not only will you get all her money so that she goes bankrupt and loses all her possesions you will also ruin her reputation so that she won't ever be hired and be given the opportunity to perform such malicious injustices!!!! MUAHAHAHAHH.....it'd be a good idea to get teary-eyed and speak with a trembling voice. you were VIOLATED, and you were EXPLOITED, all you want is your dignity back. she has taken more of you than money can buy!!! ahahhamuahahhahamuhahah....ummm, am i going about this the wrong way?

(don't listen to anything i say, which i'm sure you'll find humorus enough to not take seriously)

poor labia :(
your vagina has my vagina's sympathies...

I would go back and show her the damage she's done. You shouldn't suffer in silence.Especially if you made your hard earned money for it. If anything think about the next person that may get waxed. It sounds like she needs to improve her technique.

I would defnitely show her the damage. Not everyone's skin can handle hot wax. I've been burned by hot wax on my eyebrows more than once, and it started peeling and all kinds of stuff. Not pretty. You shouldn't have to pay $50+ or whatever you paid to be in pain. Furthermore, she should know better than to leave hair behind...

I'd consult the place you usually go, too, and show them what happened - let them make a professional judgment on what happened. Information and knowledge is the key to getting what you want!

Good luck... I'm sorry for your aloha :/
