Eh...long nails or short nails don't really tell much. There are plenty of toys out there that penetrate without any nails involved. Some women also use a showerhead or rub up against something.

Somewhere in the community memories, there is an excellent demonstration graphic of how to use the bathtub as your toy.

Basically, turn on the faucet, and then lie down on your elbows in the tub. Scoot your body up until your legs are open and resting on the walls/sides of the tub, and your vagina is under the water stream. You may have to tilt a bit to get the stream onto your clit. I'm completely aware I seem to be the only guy making a comment in this thread and it is making me really self concious. I'm new here at VP and would ask that if I'm not supposed to make comments here that someone just tell me nicely and this will be my last, I promise (I tried opening the FAQ but the link did not work)

Not being female, and not having really long nails either, I'm not completely without experience in this area, in as much as even guys have to use some care if we want to be asked over again. :-)

Personally I've never had any problem just filing my nails so the they don't have any rough edges, but then again I try not to apply my nails and I use a side to side motion. I think the direction of the motion must be at least partly responsible for why some women with long nails have a problem here and others do.

Has anyone tried gloves? Were I to do any sort of work for which a fingernail presented danger, I think I would probably put on a pair of latex gloves, possibly even that heavier sort, as it would seem to me that they would offer some protection from abrasion.

One last suggestion I'd like to make would be to see if there is some sort of "cap" you could put over a finger or fingernail. I'm not exactly sure what I am suggesting. I would assume sex shops probably already sell a device for this purpose, and if not there is probably some common household item which would work, perhaps a cap of a pen were it large enough and free from rough edges.

i've wondered about the whole "cap" things to keep my then, acrylic nails, from yellowing when i use to tan. i've seen them on a t.v. show, but couldn't find them anywhere. if you find out, please let me know. :)

I did not know there was a cap specifically made for fingernails, but it stood to reason since the ancient chinese had them, although probably for neither the express purposes of either tanning or masturbating.
