Hi everyone. I just joined, and already I have a question for the vagina-lovin' masses:

Has anyone ever had an adverse reaction to Midol? As per usual, I started my period with cramps that were ouchy, but not crippling. My roommie suggested I take some Midol since she absolutely adores it, and within a half hour of taking a pill (I only took one, since my cramps weren't that bad), I was in hell. It was like my uterine lining was shedding double-time-- blood clots like crazy. And oh the pain! I felt lightheaded, nauseous, dehyrated, and just plain in agony. The pain wore off after about four hours, and now I am back to the cramps I started out with.

I am baffled that this product would have such an ill effect on my body. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Midol and regular asprin and naproxen stuff all have anti-inflammatory qualities, and can thin blood...that may have been part of your reaction.

I'm allergic to ibuprofen so I've never taken Midol for cramps...I just stick to a couple of extra strength tylenol when I need it.

I've noticed that whenever I take something manufactured for pain stuff, I end up having a worse time of it (if not immediately, then the next month, when I have to take even more painkillers to feel okay). So I've taken to eating herbal remedies, such as catnip and raspberry leaf tea, valerian root supplement pills, etc. Just my experience, fwiw.

yes. midol is the devil. it's very bad for you body, makes your cramps worsen over time if you continually take it.

heating pad, excersize, chocolate, blanket and a good movie is all you need.

Oh my god...that is exactly what happened to me about 2 cycles ago. I have really bad cramps and I am coming off the pill since my hubby and I want to get pregnant in a few months. Well Midol made my day a living hell. I was shaky, feverish, my body ached, I was bleeding like there was no tomorrow. It was ridiculous. I don't know LEGALLY how they can sell this product.

But...it is nice to know I was not going crazy. DEATH TO MIDOL.
