ok so i'm on penicillin now, and i'm most DEFINATELY getting a yeast infection. i'm taking acidophilus with it, but hey, it doesnt always help. i dont get them often, but they get VERY VERY uncomfortable when i do. the thing is though, i was hoping to EITHER a. have sex or b. get my hood pierced tomorrow!! any ideas on ways to cut this off quickly? help!! bad bad timing.

azo yeast pills. available over the counter for about $7. they contain boneset, mistletoe leaf and lactobacillus sporogenes. this won't fix you ultra-quickly, but it'll help. i'd also suggest going to a health clinic and getting a diflucan prescription (i always ask for one whenever i'm prescribed with an antibiotic...keeps me from getting a yeast infection in the first place). and you should put off getting a piercing if you're yeasty...it will make healing much more unpleasant.

i'm just nervous about medication, i'm quite suspicious of western medicine. heh.

yeah, it's the mistletoe berries that can be a problem.

i take diflucan every time and haven't had any problems. it's a lot less messy than creams tend to be & it seems to work more quickly on me.

the only problem I've ever found with diflucan is that its just bloody expensive, even on insurance.

i say screw the diflucan. i had one yeast infection. i slathered plain yogurt on the outside and inside and that helped tons. also, gel caplsuls full of boric acid does wonders. a bottle of boric acid will last you forever. this method is way cheaper than other stuff like prescriptions. at first it seems weird putting yogurt in your cunt, but then you wonder why it seemed weird after you feel better.

I thought I should elaborate on the boric acid part of the equasion. Buy two double ought (00) size gel capsuls from the pharmacist. Fill them with boric acid, a powder that can be found in the first aid section. If you don't want to buy a big thing of boric acid, the pharmacist can probably make it for you, though it might be more cost efficient to make it yourself. Put one in in the morning, another at night (or night and then morning). Sleep with a yogurt soaked tampon in for a few days. Slather on yogurt as necisary (I can never spell that word). Should get you feeling better in a jiffy.

Yeah, for one, you're probably right-diflucan might not be the solution...but I know women who get the chronically, especially with antibiotics and for them, diflucan is a blessing.

Glad the yogurt cure worked for you though.

I got a hood piercing two years ago and have been happy with it ever since. However, you are not supposed to have sex for a couple months after to allow it to heal. That lasted about two weeks for me, but yes, it did end up hurting me. It didn't get infected, but there was a reason he told me to be careful. So just keep that in mind.
As for the yeasty, I would wait until the yeast is gone before getting the piercing. I can't imagine having done the piercing with a yeast infection. Blech.
