i was on orthotricyclen for a year, and i switched over to non-tri cyclic birth control (for the life of me, i can't remember the name, and on the prescription i only have the generic name).

anyways, i never had spotting before, but on this birth control, i get spotting for about a week before i get my period.

is this normal??

spotting is really common in pill users (and even non-pill users)... but it may mean that the hormonal dosage in that specific pill isn't working well with your body chemistry, so you may need to switch pills if it's a persitent problem. however, you should probably wait about three months and see if the spotting goes away... sometimes, after switching pill brands, your body needs time to get used to it, but the side effects usually disappear after a few months. if it doesn't go away though, and it's a problem for you, maybe you should talk to your doc about switching brands again...try to find one that has the minimum possible side effects.
hope that helps :)

oh okay, sorry, guess i misread it ;)

still, it's obviously not a termporary side effect then, so maybe you should try another brand and see if the spotting goes away?

I had that spotting while on Loestroin. Spotted the week before my period that then would have a day period when I was actually supposed to have one. It drove me nuts and made me paranoid. It eventually led to my
abandoning birth control pills altogether.
