Ok...
First time going to the gyno. To go on birth control. I have a pretty good idea of what goes on there.
But one question. Last Friday I smoked pot and I was just wondering if they made me give blood or anything to where they could find out?! And does Birth control make you gain a lot of weight?!

I don't know about the whole pot thing, but birth control can make you gain weight or some even lose it. It all depends on you and how you react to the pill.

yeah, it (weight gain/loss) is pretty much hit or miss.

They may take your blood if they were performing STD tests but they aren't going to be doing a drug test, no need to worry there.

Some women gain weight from certain brands of birth control but plenty of women don't. Some women say the weight gain is only a result of food cravingings and you have to make point to not give into them all the time but that's not something I've ever experienced. If you take care of your body and take on a healthy lifestyle, the pills don't have to cause any change in body shape.

As the above poster said, they will be doing blood testing, but not testing for drugs, so don't worry.

I take amphetamines (obviously makes me test positive for amphetamines/"speed") as prescribe by my psychiatrist, and they never bother me at the clinic about it, so my guess is they don't do any kind of drug testing to the blood. Just tests for STDs.

In my experience, I gained a lot more weight from the poor impusle control side-effect of smoking pot than I ever gained as a side-effect from birth control pills. :-P

Hey - I went to the gyno for the first time to go on birth control a few months ago - no blood tests or anything, the doctor just talked to me.

As for the weight gain, I'm on Yasmin - it supposedly doesn't create as much water-retention (which can be responsible for weight gain) as other pills, so you might want to look into that. My boobs DID grow though! :)
