This is cross posted by the way.

How can people enjoy their damn periods? I mean get all happy when it comes? I've been on this current one for damn near two months and now that I'm going out of town tomorrow, it goes and gets all heavy...so heavy that I go through pads like chewing gum. Mess up clothes heavy. Enormous blood clot heavy. Why have I been on this damn thing for two months? Why does the flow attempt to turn small villages into ruins? I'm not doing anything. No sex. Birth control is a stupid solution as I'm not doing anything and I don't care for my periods to be regulated. I just want a damn normal one for once. Five days. Two heavy. Three light. Is that so much to ask? But nooooooooo. I was damn near off this morning too. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. I want a hysterectomy. I can't spell it, but I want one. I don't want kids anyway. Okay rant over. Hello all.

I'd consider the doctor -- not only is 2 months a long time, if you are going more than a pad an hour at any point, that might be a cause for concern.

And the birth control would give you what you want. If there is nothing else wrong (or if you have ovarian cysts, they might give you the pill anyways. Thats what i ahve. I never cared when I didnt get my period, but when I got it like you did, I freaked and went to the dr.)

Quack docs suck. Hope you get a new one. "Found nothing" is not an excuse. IF there is something not going right, and they didn't find anything, then dammit, they look until YOU are happy with the results or explination. For all those years of school "I dunno" just isnt acceptable.

(I hold my doctors to high standards. Probably why I have so few! )

Ehhh.
It's not that I get happy -- oh joy, I'm bleeding! -- but it's sort of... relieving. I get REALLY wound up a couple of days before I start, and once I actually do start, that pretty much goes away. So if nothing else, I like starting my period 'cause it means that I'm not going crazy...

What you're describing sounds like a royal pain in the ass, though... not to mention a potential indicator of medical problems... but you knew that. Make sure you're getting decent amounts of iron into your system (if you aren't already) -- not that it'll stop the bleeding, but it'll keep you from becoming anemic, which is a strong possibility with all that blood loss.

that really sucks.

You should probably go see a doctor. That just doesn't sound right. My friend's periods were all screwy at one point. Sometimes they'd be really heavy and continue for a very long time. Sometimes they'd never come at all. Turned out she had Poly-Cystic Ovaries.
Oh, and the BC could actually help you with your problem.

Paps are not painful at all, and take half a second. It's like the same culture they do if you have strep... stick a giant q-tip in the back of your throat and it's over.

Also -- you can get a pap while menstruating (and SHOULD if you are having problems), I have.

I'm sincerely glad you'll be getting a new doctor. Hopefully this one will know what he/she is doing.

Yeah, I agree. Pap smears are not painful or uncomfortable in the least. There really is nothing to it. I wouldn't put it off because I was afraid if I were you, especially since you're having so many problems.

Hope you feel better! :)

Heavy like, the scene from "The Shining" where the elevator doors open and the wall of blood comes out? That would describe mine.

Paps are not painful. The speculum hurts a bit going in, but it's no worse than mild period cramps.

You should get a second opinion, or find a new doctor if this one isn't helping you.

If you ever want to have children (or give yourself the opportunity to want to have children), you should get this straightened out. I've know women to whom this has happened, but they're usually older and nearing menopause. Not sure if there's a correlation there, but definitely get a second opinion.
