Or, more to the point, what would you say? The question this week, as originally posed, is if you could share one piece of wisdom with a VPer going through puberty, what would it be?

It shouldn't hurt that much. Surprise! ;)

Your body is still growing and while you may be tempted to change things by different means, hold off. Eventually everything will fall into place and if they don't, then you can tamper with it ;)

Some of the people who give you advice about how puberty is "supposed" to be, are working off mostly their experience with it, and a few other people they know. If it turns out your body works differently, don't panic, and look for people with different/wider experiences. Sadly, some doctors have surprisingly narrow experiences.

THYROID TESTING! Yeah, irregular periods may be normal, but after a couple years, get your thyroid checked anyway, and get the numbers.

...I think everyone knows I'm a fanatic about that.

I'm not sure it counts as a piece of wisdom but I would provide any VPer going through puberty with a link to Scarleteen. This site came out just around the time I started to research sex ed on my own (because my parent certainly didn't tell me anything useful, and I was homeschooled, and I had unfiltered internet) and it's only gotten better with time. I would also say that in general, there's a wealth of information on the internet -- don't be afraid to use it!!!

There's such a thing as menstrual cups, and many of those who menstruate use them and think they're the coolest thing since ice cream. Oh, and there are other options, too.
