looked through the memories, didn't find exactly what i was looking for, so any advice would be helpful...

so i'm on the pill, and so my boyfriend and i don't use condoms. but i noticed that now, well it smells kinda fishy down there afterwards. i really don't know what do to about this, except use the bathroom afterwards [which i do anyway to prevent utis]. any suggestions? should i keep babywipes or something in my purse? i don't like feeling yucky after sex! haha.

thanks in advance :)

It sounds like you might have Bacterial Vaginosis. One of the main symptoms is a fishy odor after intercourse.

Erm... Bacterial vaginosis isn't considered a sexually transmitted infection, but few virgins get BV. You could just tell your mom you're itchy and suspect a yeast infection. BV is commonly confused with yeast (which is why it's recommended you see a doctor before treating your first yeast infection.)
You can read about BV here: http://my.webmd.com/hw/sexual_conditions/hw53099.asp
Dealing with BV is easy. Go to the doctor, get swabbed for a diagnosis, and get a prescrition for antibiotics, either oral or vaginal. Sometimes BV will come back, but a stronger ose of antibiotics will do the trick.
And remember, if you are on hormonal birth control, antibiotics may make your pill less effective, so backup with condoms.

back when i was still on the pill, i noticed a faint fishy smell after sex. it wasn't an infection--it was just the reaction of my vaginal fluid (which is acidic) and my partner's semen (basic).

if we used condoms, i didn't get the smell.

now we use condoms exclusively, but not for that reason. ;)

well, i generally swirled my fingers around inside my vagina and did a quick "pull", which sort of suctioned out the semen. i did that mostly to avoid waking up in a slimy wet spot.

other than that, a quick wash an hour or so later eliminated most of the smell. if we had a quickie mid-day, i sometimes put on a pantiliner before going to class, just to avoid having semen stain my clothes/undies. semen can bleach textiles (and formica, for that matter).
