Feb. 8th, 2004 11:48 amI'm the co-organizer for The Vagina Monologues at my university and my production crew thought that we could make rose corsages out of tampons for VDay this week. I was hoping I could have sometime to work on them today but I don't have any instructions. I googled it and didn't come up with anything.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about and ultimatly how to create one?
Thanks!

Date: 2004-02-08 09:09 am (UTC)-Wet fingers and flick water onto tampon until it fluffs up. Spray with gold glitter paint and let dry.
-Glue a round wooden bead (head) to top and paint a face on. Glue hair on.
-Glue a piece of chenille stem to back and bend to the front for arms. Glue a flower in her arms.
-Bend a piece of shiny gold chenille stem into a halo shape and glue to head.
-Glue pre-made or purchased wings to back.
-Hang with tampon string.
But that's for christmas. =(

Date: 2004-02-08 10:19 am (UTC)Supplies:
Tampons (I'd suggest o.b.)
florist wire (26-24 gage, you want it to stay relatively straight)
silk leaves
florist tape
spray paint?
scotch tape
Open up the tampon with a spray of water like above, try to keep the area by the string dry. At this point you *could* spray paint it red and let it dry, but that could be a little disturbing looking.
Stick a wire into the string end of the tampon, and wrap the string around the wire. You can hold it on with the scotch tape. You might need to trim the base of the 'flower' to get a beter taper from the petals to the wire.
Wrap the base of the flower and wire with the florist tape. Add a few leaves as you go.
Taadaaa! It could be a rose, or it could look a complete disaster :)
