Why would you have it removed?!

i just had this done last friday!
plus a diagnostic laproscopy
so i was put out under general anesthetic, they used gas and it made me feel sick. :( so after i was throwing up and crap.
just a hymenectomy is done under either general or local anesthetic
and everyone reacts to anesthetic differently (i had surgery before and it didnt make me sick at all)
i had a "hymenal band" or hymenal tags
they snipped the band and stitched the edges and coderized them? or something (the ends where they cut were all white, yesterday when i was wiping after going to the washroom one of the entier white parts and the stitching just came off? i guess thats supposed to happen? i dont know! it was weird)
if you have a thick imperferate hymen i think they generally just cut holes in it to weaken it, and possibly drain you. it depends on what kind of hymen you have?
its been uncomfortable down there at times, like somethings poking me. and ive had random bouts of bleeding (like not just spotting, like average nosebleed blood) which has kinda freaked me out, but it always stops relatively quickly so im sure things are ok.
i think in the long run itll be good though. i had trouble taking out tampons before, and then theres the whole sex thing which was pretty much impossible before. im not really sexually active nor do i plan to in the near future, but sometime down the road when i do itll be nice to just be able to do it. (i tried once before, it didnt work)
i dont know, i wish i knew more about whats going on down there in the 'recovery' period. random bleeding and bits falling off have made me somewhat nervous. but i think its all part of the process and in a little while everything will be ok!
just be sure to talk to your doctor about what to expect during the recovery period before you have the proceedure done. i wish i had, but i was more worried about the laproscopy, itll put your mind at ease.
any more questions or if you want to talk feel free to email me. (mailto:dystatic@freenet.edmonton.ab.ca) i dont know anyone else whos had this done, it doesnt seem to be very common.
