I am a 26 year old virgin. Since 5 years ago, I started to masturbate frequently, perhaps 3-4 times a week. I masturbate only by simulating my nipples and infrequently rubbing between my legs externally. However since 3 years ago I noticed a slight thread of blood in vaginal discharge after I masturbate and this usually happens mid-cycle, randomly and usually one-off.

My period cycle is on average 28 days but there are some occasions where my period comes on the 27th day or the 31st day. I had my first period when I was 12 and have never missed any period since. My period usually lasts 7 days, with heavy bleeding on the first 3 days, followed by light bleeding on the next 2 days and infrequent brown/light brown spotting until the 7th day, when I am 100% percent sure that my period has ended. My last (month) period cycle was 30 days.

On the 13th day of the current cycle, I noticed almost a drop of bright red blood among clear vaginal discharge after I masturbated. I was so scared since I have never found that much blood in vaginal discharge. For several hours afterwards I saw several threads of blood in vaginal discharge.

On the 16th day, I found another thread of blood in vaginal discharge and this time I have no idea what caused it.

On the 20th day, I found blood (the consistency of the blood is light, like it has been slightly diluted with water) staining my panties and no trace of vaginal discharge. The stain was approximately the size of a thumb. I think I was feeling aroused prior to finding the blood. I then found a little blood in vaginal discharge (my vaginal discharge was yellowish but I think it is normal for me since I've had it since I can remember and I don't feel itchy nor there is any redness) throughout the day and the next day. I think the total amount of blood that I saw during these two days amounts to 1 or 1 1/2 drop of blood.

On the 23rd day I found a little blood in vaginal discharge and it occurred only once. I went to the doctor (In my country we don't have the concept of "my doctor" hence this is a new doctor that I have never seen before) and she told me that it is normal to find blood in vaginal discharge and told me that I'll only need to see the gyn if the bleeding is heavy, i.e. to the point that I need a pad. The doctor is not a gyn, by the way, just a GP.

On the 27th day (yesterday), I woke up to find blood (the consistency of the blood is a bit light, like it has been slightly diluted with water) staining my panties and a little bit on my pants. My period usually starts like this so I thought that my period came. But it has been more than 24 hours and there is no more blood coming out except for a little blood (dark red/light brown, totaling less than a drop in 24 hours) in yellow vaginal discharge.

So now I'm not sure whether the blood I saw yesterday was caused by period or not. I had been so stressed over finding blood in vaginal discharge, especially during the 20th to the 23th day. I'm so scared that those blood might be a sign of cancer or something serious. What should I do? What is happening to me?

Oh, and I don't feel any pain during the bloody vaginal discharge episodes but I do feel dull and sudden pain near/slightly above my right hip randomly and infrequently. And I have stopped masturbating after I saw the blood on the 13th day.

Please help.

Hi all!

I have been on the pill for six years now. I take Microgynon Suave (0.1 levonorgestrel, 0.02 etinilestradiol). Ever since around November I have been getting two periods in one month. I know spotting is normal on bc, but this is NOT spotting. I get the first period about a week prior to finishing the pack and the second period during the time I regularly expect it. I went to my gyno about it and she said it was probably just spotting... and I really doubt it is. I haven't gone back due to scheduling problems, but I'm wondering if maybe what I need is a pill with a higher dose of hormones?

Thanks for the help!

Hello everyone.
Someone here mentioned using coconut oil as lube, so I started looking around. I figured anything was better than the lube I was using, because it had glycerin in it.
I ordered some off Amazon(not organic or anything because I'm broke)and it said 100% coconut oil. But when it came in the mail and I read the back, it says external use only. Does coconut oil have to be organic and extra virgin if I'm going to use it as lube? Why else would there be a disclaimer on the back?
Sorry if I sound all paranoid, I've had some bad experiences with lube.

I feel like I'm in here every other month asking the same questions, so I apologize if you've seen this all before. I have some questions about hormones in general, and then a few questions about how natural hormones are affected both by hormonal birth control pills versus IUDs.

I understand that HBC can alleviate a lot of annoying PMS symptoms, but also that it can pose a few equally annoying side effects to the user. When looking to understand this further, I was unable to find the answer to the question I was looking for. The biggest side effect/PMS symptom that I've been trying to fight for years is breast soreness. They hurt like crazy when I'm off the pill and for two weeks leading up to my period, and they were hurting like crazy every single day when I was on the pill. I recently switched to a much lower dosage pill (Lo Loestrin FE), and for the first month it was like "hallelujah! No sore boobs!" But now, I'm coming out of month two and into month three and they've been sore for about two weeks (in addition to my face breaking out for apparently no reason). I hate having sore boobs. I like touching my own boobs, my boyfriend likes touching my boobs, and even when no one's touching my boobs, sometimes they just sit there and ache and throb. I've tried cutting out caffeine and drinking more water and it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. So. This brings me to IUDs.

I'm fairly certain at this point that I want one, but I have the feeling that it won't actually do anything for my breast pain problem. The related specific question I had been looking for an answer to was which hormone, estrogen or progesterone, causes breast soreness. The internet just kept telling me it was an imbalance of the two that caused it, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that too much of one of them has the greater effect. Well, in the Mirena (that's the hormonal one, right?), the hormones are localized. However, will that have any effect on my body's own hormones? Will it know enough to stop fluctuating its own so that my boobs don't hurt whenever they feel like it? And the copper one doesn't have any hormones, which I feel would be counterproductive to my hormone-induced breast pain.

I just feel all-out frustrated with hormones. I feel like mine change and fluctuate whenever they please, and as soon as they sense me trying to tinker with them, they fight back with a vengeance.

Guh, halp?

I've been using the Nuvaring for about two years without a problem, however yesterday I felt like I had not pushed a tampon in all the way and discovered it was my nuvaring. I had a lot of trouble pushing it back in and my muscles are very tight? I thought my cervix was low, but this is not the case. It's not "slipping" out, it's literally being pushed out. Today i could barely get it back in at all. Anyone know what could cause this or how to help?

So I get pimples on my inner labia every so often--usually no big deal. I had one for a couple weeks or so, and as usual it was a bit itchy and sore, but I just tried to leave it alone and more or less forgot about it!

Hi everyone,
so i have a bit of a dilemma on my hands. Its going to be my boyfriends birthday in 3 weeks and we have decided to finally have sex for his birthday. However my GP told me that i should start my birth control pills the next time i have my period so im waiting till then to start them, but according to my calculations im due to have my period a few days before his birthday. Hes also said that he would like to have sex bare without a condom, and i said only for special occasions. So, ive been thinking his birthday is a special occasion and id like to have sex without a condom. But my GP said even after a week using the pill i should still use a condom.

so ive come up with a few options
a. dont start the pill have sex then use the morning after pill.
b. use the pill and use condom aswell
c. use the pill have sex withOUT condoms and use the morning after pill the next day.

I guess my main concern is...does the morning after pill interfere with the pill? And is being on the pill only reliable enough..?
Ive been prescribed LEVLEN ED TABLET 150mcg/30mcg (21), inactive (7) what are your experiences with this particular brand?

Im still a virgin and have never been on the pill before so...i would like to get some opinions.

many thanks

Hey superstars! Everythings been going well lately minus a uti that is being a b*tch and won't completely go away.
Yesterday I was exploring and noticed a small, pea sized bump/lump/ball in the skin of my inner labia. It doesn't hurt much. I googled it, and found bartholin cysts. this sounds alot like what I have, but I'm not positive.
I took a sitz bath today, and will try to take 2 or 3 tomorrow. I'm not in any financial situation to go to the dr, so I'm just trying to figure out what this is/how to treat it.
Also, possibly unrelated, my cervix has been lower during sex (I can feel the little "ba-bump" if he goes deep enough) so I started freaking out that its a cyst and its infected and cervicitis and the uti is just all of this combined and basically convinced I'm not healthy (which this small bump may not be an issue.)
This bump is not a wart, scab, sore, open-anything. It's like if you put a hard pea in a ziploc bag and could feel it between your fingers through the plastic outside.
Also, my boyfriend and I are both recently tested and no infections or diseases.
Help?!

PS: Also slightly freaking out because my Mirena IUD has been silly lately (its been a year that ive had it) and I have breakthrough spotting/bleeding, so I've been on constant BC pills along with my iud. Therefore, I'm terrified of cancer. Especially breast, cause my aunt had it. So now I'm worried this is a cancer thing. Helppppp.

Hey lovely people!

I have two semi related issues that I think could use some VP wisdom.

From the time I started menstruating (age 12, I'm now 19) I've had really long gaps between my periods. At first it was completely irregular, but after a few years it worked itself out to about once every two to two and a half months.

At Christmas I got an iPod and thought, hey, I should totally get a period tracker app. The first two cycles I was able to track were both 60 days, and I went to my doctor just to see if there could be a problem. She said it was a regular period and I didn't have any other issues so I was fine. I went on my merry way, thinking I was actually pretty lucky.

Ironically, my next period after seeing the doctor came 31 days after the one before it, and the next one was 32 days. That was last month. This month seems to be following the same trend, as I'm on day 32 right now and I can tell I'll be bleeding tomorrow or the next day.

My question here is a pretty confused "what the heck?" Has this every happened to any of you? If so, does it switch back? I was pretty happy only menstruating once every other month.

My other issue is that I have really nasty PMS of the crabby-weepy-mess variety. For at least a week, sometimes a week and a half before my period I am either irritable and angry, a bit manic, or sad and hopeless for no good reason. Basically, it plays merry hell with my emotions and it keeps getting worse. Normally I'm a calm, emotionally level, and positive kind of person so I hate being so erratic and either irritated by or indifferent towards people I otherwise love to bits. I don't enjoy doing anything or being with anyone for the week, so I end up being a miserable unproductive sack of angst until it goes away.

My question here is: is there a way to regulate this at all? I'd really like to stop worrying about planning things the week before my period because I know I'm going to be miserable. I've been on the pill once before (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Low) but it made my depression worse and I basically felt like I was PMSing all the time, AND it didn't help with the bad cramps and heavy bleeding like it was supposed to so I stopped after a few months. I thought that maybe getting a pill that's the same amounts of hormones all month and then stacking might help, but I'm not sure I want to risk it with the depression again. I'm gay and not planning on any potentially baby-making sex any time soon so contraception isn't a factor. I'm really just open to anything that might help.

Phew. Sorry for the ridiculously long question.

Thank you in advance :)
