Hey everyone! just a question..i'm really concerned because i've been feeling a little odd these past few days..my period is due in 4 days..and something inside of me is screaming "YOU'RE PREGNANT!!"..i am on loloestrin for birth control and i'm just curious..if i continue to take my pill until i possibly miss a period, if i am pregnant, will the hormones in the bc hurt the baby in any way? my boyfriend and I are in no way TRYING to get pregnant, however I had my wisdom teeth removed last thursday, and the doctor had me on an antibiotic a week prior to having them removed. not thinking, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex while i was taking this antibiotic and so i'm a little worried about my bc actually working. if the case is that I am pregnant, we will both be ecstatic about it and look at the baby as a blessing, but we aren't quite ready to have a baby yet if the chance is there to hold off for a couple years! haha. just looking for advice :) thanks!

I've been battling this relative problem for the last several years. I have several days in between my cycle where I spot. This can range from pink to full on blood. I'm 36, have two children, eat well, exercise and drinks lots of water. I've been taking Sprintec low dose since June 2011. It seemed to be working and I was having no spotting for a few months. Until recently, now I spot again between days 9-12 of my cycle and sometimes from day 22 on till the end and I start my period. Sometimes I bleed with sex, although it clears quickly there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. I'm going to the doctor this week, but wondered if any other woman experiences something like this. I've been tested for STD's and came back clean, plus I'm in a monogamous relationship. Any advice helps. Thanks.

Hey everybody!  A recent post about a reader's swollen stomach (http://vaginapagina.livejournal.com/20650373.html) is making me question what is wrong with my own tummy. Over the course of my roughly 28-day menstrual cycle, my abdomen swells considerably and then drops again in size.  I go up a bra band size (36 DD to 38DD) and up a size in pants. My breasts get a bit bigger, but my stomach swells pretty much from under my breasts down to my hip bones. The swelling starts roughly 12 to 14 days after my period ends and then relents a day or two before my next period starts.

I've started following a gluten-free, relatively low-carb diet for the past month.  Without gluten, I've noticed that my bloating is less pronounced (yay!).  However, it still happens.  In addition, I experience constipation for a week prior to my period, and then...BAM!  Diarrhea! I try to treat the bloating with gentle diuretic teas (Natural Medicinals 'Weight-Less' is great).  They make me more comfortable, but they don't prevent the bloating / constipation cycle.

Does anybody have any suggestions about what's causing this bloating, and how I might go about further reducing it? I think that endo is sometimes accompanied by this kind of cyclical bloating, but I might be wrong and I'm keen for ideas on how to fix it.  Thank you!

Hi all!

I've not had the best luck with hormonal contraception over the last 4 years (I'm 22, started at 18), issues being mood swings (including violence!), anxiety and panic attacks, and chronic UTIs (from taking cerazette, brought on by dryness I've since found out). So now I'm 100% convinced hormones just aren't for me.

I'm now 6 months hormonal contraception free (other than a 'morning after' due to a split condom), and have a regular 32 day cycle where I bleed for 8 days at a time, 2 of which I would say were heavy bleeding days (changing my mooncup every 3-4 hours) often clotting, and where I have cramps bad enough to wake me up in the night. I'm in a heterosexual monogamous relationship and am nulliparous.

I've heard a lot about non-hormonal IUDs causing increased bleeding and cramping, but my doctor informed me this might be because many women go straight from hormonal methods to the copper coil and don't necessarily know what a normal period is.

Would anyone care to share their experiences, please?

Did you need to get the IUD removed because of pain/excess bleeding?
If you experienced this did it eventually settle down (& how long)?
Did you come away no worse off then before?

I don't know, after dealing with bi-monthly UTIs I'm sure nothing can be worse, but I'm a bit scared of having someone put something in my body I can't remove myself! Also pain sucks. But so does pregnancy right now.

Thanks everyone! x

Edit to add...
List of oral contraceptives I've tried:
- Mercilon
- Cilest
- Microgynon
- Yasmin
- Cerazette
