SOPA / PIPA

Vaginapagina is based in the United States, and the following post in US-centric.
Vaginapagina's mission statement reads: "Founded in 2001, VaginaPagina is an online community that offers a supportive, progressive, body- and sex-positive environment in which to discuss issues related to female sexual and reproductive health and wellness. It is a unique, empowerment-based safe space that is GLBTQQIA- and kink-friendly. Our goal is to build knowledge and combat misinformation by sharing personal experiences and reliable information from credible sources. We believe that by becoming active in VP, members are participating in a revolutionary and life-changing project."
The VP team believes in those words, and we believe that having freedom of speech on the internet is critical to our community. On Jan 24th, Congress will vote to pass internet censorship in the Senate, even though the vast majority of Americans oppose this. So while we usually prefer not to take political stances in VP, when politics crosses access to information -- as is happening now -- VP will always be firmly on the side of access. We encourage our USAmerican members to research these bills - PIPA in the Senate and SOPA in the House - and to contact your political representatives to let them know your thoughts in order to to protect our rights to free speech, privacy, and prosperity.
