Hello all,

I had a pretty frightening experience earlier this week where I woke up with bad period-type cramping and then ended up passing out and falling down multiple times. This in turn lead to an ER visit and a hospital stay, but since the cramps had gone away by the time I got to the hospital (which was about 8 hours after the event - I think the cramps lasted about 4 hours but the whole thing is kind of hazy) the main focus of the medical treatment at that point was more about head injuries and ruling out various scary-sounding reasons for losing consciousness. I'm not going to post a full write-up here because it's really long and most of it is not related to the reproductive system, but I posted about it in my personal journal here if anyone wants more information.

My doctor said that the original pain may have been an ovarian cyst, and I'd like to learn more about them. I'd particularly like to know if there's any way to predict if/when this will happen again and if there's anything I can do to prevent future cysts. (My doctor mentioned maybe going on HBC, which I'm hesitant to do since I'd just need to go off it again later when I'm ready for kids, so it's not a permanent solution since I do want kids as soon as my personal life cooperates.) I'm also wondering if doing fertility charting would help to predict if I have another cyst (I'm not currently in a relationship nor otherwise trying to conceive a child, so I suspect this would also be a giant hassle for me to do long term, but at least it would provide a leg up for when my life cooperates with having a kid rather than possibly masking the likelihood of further cysts until I'm actively trying to get my ovaries to cooperate with conception plans as I'm worried about with HBC).

Mostly, I'm freaked out because my mother had problems with both ovarian cysts and ovarian tumors, and it led to her having a hysterectomy at age 31 (I'm 30 now).

I'll be seeing my doctor for a follow-up appointment in a few weeks or a month, and I want to have good questions when I go and a good idea what kinds of things she might suggest, so I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have.

In 2009 I had my gallbladder removed. Since then my digestive system has been very finicky and I'll have diarrhea about twice a week, usually right after a meal. Last night I read that having diarrhea can affect the absorption of the pill. This really has me nervous because I regularly have sex without any back up protection. I just use the pill.

Should I be concerned? Getting pregnant right now would be devastating.

My original plan was to get the Implanon. After hearing some scary stuff about it, I decided to just go back on the pill. I called my doctor's office LAST WEEK to cancel my Implanon appointment and asked them to call in a script for a pill...I had to call them back again yesterday and they still hadn't called me anything in but said they would do it asap. Sooo I finally picked up my pack of pills this afternoon from the pharmacy. I was prescribed Loestrin 1/20 (generic Junel).
Here's my problem.
I started spotting last Saturday/Sunday and had full blown bleeding Monday. Would it be alright if I started taking the pills this Sunday or should I wait until I have another period?
I called my doctor's office..but hey guess what..no call back.
Also, just curious...when did you breastfeeding moms get your period back after having your baby?

Yeah, the topic title is my question.

I have the implant. I used to have implanon, and it caused some issues, but they got sorted out relatively quickly with me just taking bc pills. Now my implant is Nexplanon, and jesus h. christ it's been HORRENDOUS. Epically long periods, which got staved off by the second lot of bc pills I took but have now come back, and a worsening of my period cramps.

And this constant bleeding is just draining me. I am frustrated, I want to cry ALL THE TIME because I am just SO SICK of having my period and not being able to comfortably have sex with my bf (I don't like how messy it gets, he didn't say anything >.>). I am tired all the time, I think I'm becoming borderline anemic, my hair and skin are horrible, and I am just sick of it.

Is there ANYTHING you lovely experts can suggest? I dont have time to go to the clinic atm (working 10am-6pm, clinic is walk-in only from 9-3, and I have to get the train at 9 >.<). I've started taking the bc they gave me again but it's not changed anything.

I am actually in tears at the moment I am so frustrated. I just wish I could find a doc to tie my tubes so I wouldn't have to suffer through this, but, alas, at 23 I am old enough to decide to *have* a child, but not old enough to decide I *don't* want them >.> <--personal rant, sorry

I get extremely bad menstrual cramps: I throw up, get dizzy, black out, and am pretty much confined to the bed for the first day of my period. After that, I'm fine. I was put on birth control for a while, first Yaz and then I switched to Loestrin 24-Fe. The Loestrin 24-Fe took care of the majority of my cramps, but due to other issues on it, I went off of it a few months ago. The bad cramps are back, and last month's cramps were the worst I'd had since I was 16, before I ever tried anything for them. >:|

When I had Vicodin (for killing the pain of bartholin gland abscess), I did use one for my cramps. Just one, once a month. It helped immensely, better than the birth control even. However, I no longer have any. I now have muscle relaxers (I sprained my back last month while moving, doctor prescribed them to me and I only took one). Tizanidine, to be specific.

Have any of you treated menstrual cramps with muscle relaxers? Do they work at all? I'm expecting my period soon and NOTHING else works. I'm already dreading the pain and if I can use my muscle relaxers that are prescribed to me, I will be so happy.
