Malt Vinegar

Hi Everyone!

It's been approximately 17 light years since I last posted, but this is driving me crazy and I can't find answers anywhere else. For the past 2 days, my vag has been smelling like malt vinegar. Not just regular vinegar - MALT vinegar. Is this BV?

A bit of background - I've got 6 labia piercings that became irritated about 2 weeks ago and I've been doing sea salt soaks every day to help them heal up. Last time I was doing these (when they first got pierced) it gave me a yeast infection... this makes sense to me as soaking my ladybits in salt water to kill bacteria and prevent infection in the piercings would also kill the bacteria in my vag as it's all being soaked. This time, no sign of yeast infection, just this malt vinegar smell. I've *never* smelled like this before, so I've got no previous experience to tell me what's going on.

thin uterus and other fertility issues

Hi VP,

I'm going to be as brief as possible. So over a month ago I visited a ob/gyn who specializes in fertility issues after trying for a year to get pregnant. The results of several tests have showed that I have a cyst near my ovary (it's in the empty space where the ovary would sink into as one ages), and that my uterus is thinner than normal and a bit lower. I'm currently on Natazia for my cyst, but I'm a bit concerned about my uterus. What sort of potential problems can occur and why is this an issue? Feel free to share your experience as well. In the grand scheme of things I know that it isn't a serious problem, but it's a bit hard for me as of late but I take comfort in any information I can get.

Spironolactone?

Has anyone been prescribed spironolactone before? My dermatologist just sent on a script for me to start for thinning/loss of hair, after my initial bloodwork to check for various deficiencies came back normal. (although they didn't really check to see what my vitamin levels were, can they even see that in my blood?) My doctor knows I'm also on birth control (trinessa), and knows that i'm using it for, as he put it, "no babies" (it is my sole form of BC)

So basically, my question is....

1. has anyone been prescribed this medication? Did you have any side effects?
and 2. Does anyone know if it is going to decrease my protection with my birth control?

PCOS?

Hey all,

So... after a visit to the ob/gyn today, it looks like PCOS is a distinct possibility.  We'll see after next week's ultrasound.  One way or the other, I don't really like it.

So!  The gyno took a peek at my history, asked some questions, and at first was basically saying "Well, your estrogen levels are a little on the low side, so maybe you should gain some weight?" then noticed my little 10-hair patch of fuzz right under my belly button, and the darker hairs on my upper lip, and said "Oh... could very likely be PCOS.  Everything's coming together now." 

I know it's dumb, but it made me feel like saying "So what am I, a man?  I like men, but I honestly don't want to be one."  I admit I'm a little worried about the whole infertility thing, and I honestly don't like her answer of "Well, if you have PCOS, we'll put you on HBC until you want to conceive, and it will boost your estrogen."  Done deal.  That's it.  What?  And hair-lightening cream.  Yup.  I really want to treat the cause, not just the symptoms.

So, female-bodied people, any thoughts?  Victories in the PCOS-related realm?  Ideas on treatments?  Encouragement?  Anything would be awesome.  TIA!  -Sheila

Unusual spotting.

There was a similar questions recently, but my situation is a bit different. :) I have had brown spotting (less than a panty liner full a day) for over two weeks. There is rarely some pink blood, but not enough to wear a pad. It gets much lighter where it's almost gone and then the brown comes back, but it's still not enough to do more than stain my undies. I'm not on any form of birth control, but I had a negative pregnancy test last week. My period was almost two months late when this started. What else could this be? I am used to having weird periods; I even had a super heavy one that lasted for 6 months straight. I was anemic after that, but that was about 10 years ago. Thanks for any help or suggestions!
