I'm hoping you guys will have some suggestions for me...

About 5 months ago, I came down with BV. I didn't realize what was going on because, concurrently, the area immediately outside my vagina was VERY irritated, painful, and tearing very easily. When I got checked out, I was given pills to clear up the BV and a cream, nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide, for the external irritation. I used the pills as prescribed, cleared up the BV, and used the cream for 3 weeks until I was fully healed.

I was told that my being diabetic probably had a bit to do with the external irritation and that, despite one doc telling me my skin there looked good, the one I saw this time said it was not. There were only a few months in between those visits. It was recommended that I use some A&D ointment on a regular basis to keep the area protected and in better condition (hydrated? She made it seem like the area was really dry.). I don't see great results from this and I often get small yet very irritating tears around the vaginal opening and perineum from sex. It happens even when the foreplay is good and I am fully ready, and we use lube every single time now. When I get these tears, I use that cream to help clear them up, and it usually takes 3-4 days.

So, my questions to you are

1. Is there something better you can recommend to keep my skin in that area in better condition? I don't feel that the A&D does enough and I HATE the way it feels.

2. When I do get these tears, once I run out of this cream, what can I use in its place? I'm a bit weary of using an antibiotic ointment like neosporin. Should I just go back to the doc and get more?

Please keep in mind when recommending products that I am extremely sensitive to stuff. A lot of things have been known to cause YI for me. So very gentle recommendations, please.

This Jezebel article on HBC withdrawal got me thinking: is it possible to make the withdrawal easier? Vitamin B complexes? Titrating down with lower and lower doses of HBC?

This is a hypothetical for me--I plan on keeping my Mirena for the four years left--but I thought others could more directly benefit from such a conversation. When I transitioned from the NuvaRing to the Mirena, I had 7-10 days of scary, severe depression; clearly it can be much worse than my experience.

Well, I'm back with another prescription-type question. Thanks to those who helped with my last one!

I saw my gynecologist recently, and she asked if I'd like her to write another prescription for my birth control while I was there so I wouldn't need to go back when the first one runs out - especially since it seems that healthcare center is going to be relocating or something and she might not be available for a while. So I agreed, but I don't really know how this works.

My current prescription is for a year's worth of pills, and I'm only about halfway through that. So...what do I do with the new prescription? It's dated August 15th (the date of my appointment), and I can't see anything that says how long it's "good" for or anything along those lines. And the new one is for a year's worth of pills as well. Do I just...hold onto this until my current prescription does run out - and can I get it filled then even though it will be dated six months in the past by then? Or do I bring it to the pharmacy now and...get an extension of sorts on my current prescription?

Thanks to anyone who can explain this to me, I'm pretty well clueless when it comes to prescriptions!

I am at my wits end and don't know what else to do. I just lost my insurance, so I cannot go to a doctor/new gynecologist until the new year.

For the last 9 months my vagina has been smelling pretty strongly, and I had multiple tests for BV and YI and they always came back negative, even with extensive testing sent to labs (whatever that involves) everything comes back normal. I can smell it even when I am just sitting there, and my boyfriend commented on it the other day that it smells like a woman on her period.

Then, the last 4 months sex has been incredibley painful, no matter how much lube we use, or how long we abstain to heal any possible abrasions or anything like that. It hurts right where my g-spot is if that matters. I have also been having cramping lately

I have been on the depo shot for two years, and not had a period for two years.

Is it possible my body is fed up of not having a perdiod and is trying to have one? Does that even happen/make sense?

I don't know what else to do. My gyno perscribed all kinds of medicine and nothing helped, I tried everything listed on the vaginapagina site for BV and YI and nothing helps. Boric acid does not make me smell any less. If it matters I drink only water.

My gyno wanted to do an ultrasound to check for cysts/tumors but then I lost my insurance and had to cancel.

Any ideas on what could be wrong/what I can do??? I am so fed up with the pain, I miss my amazing sex life. Please help me!!
