Wacky period

Does this warrant a visit to the gyno?

I had my last regular period on February 28th and my cycles are about 30 days on average.

On March 17th (would have been the 18th day of my cycle) I began spotting, the spotting turned into bleeding in a few days, and it hasn't stopped yet. What I found to be even stranger than the early period is the texture of the blood. It looked just like the stretchy cervical mucus one gets during ovulation. I don't know if it was mucus mixed with blood, or just blood with a different texture from what I usually get.

Is there anything to worry about here?

VP Wants Your Videos!

As announced, VP has a YouTube channel and we're ready to launch it! Now's the time to send us your videos. Here are the two general categories for submissions as of right now (we can always expand later):

1. How-to style posts (how to correctly use contraceptives, how to sew your own cloth pads, how to use/fold menstrual cups, how to use particular safer sex techniques, etc.)
2. "It Gets Better"-type posts related to sexual assault, gender identity, sexual identity, or another VP-related area

The following guidelines apply:

• videos should be 5 minutes or shorter in length whenever possible
• all submissions will be screened by the VP Team
• VP rules are in effect for all content
• summaries and transcripts highly encouraged

We're super stoked to see your videos!  Editing is fun and all, but videos need not have lots of bells and whistles to be approved--we're more interested in getting the content out there.

So my roommate went off the pill (on a generic of loestrin) about two weeks ago after being on it for a year. She's been eating rather healthy the past two weeks but has still managed to gain five pounds. Is there any chance that withdrawing the pill could be causing this? I have a feeling it is but she's freaking out and I wanted to ease her fears.
