Hokay, I hate that I have to ask this, and I think I already know the answer, but I need to ease my mind a bit.

Last Friday, an hour or so after taking my pill (not entirely sure if it was an hour or 2 hours after), I ended up getting sick. This pill was the 2nd to last in my pack before my placebo week started. (I'm on Ocella, if it makes a difference.) I took my Saturday pill at my regular time. Tuesday night, I had (some really amazing) unprotected sex with the guy I'm seeing. He came inside me a bit (slight position mishap prevented him from fully finishing in me, but the first...spurt?...came out in me). Wednesday afternoon we did it again and he came inside me.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't be too worried about this whole thing, but I'm waiting for my withdrawal bleed to start, and it hasn't yet. It usually starts on Wednesday evening. Now, sometimes it likes to wait until the middle of the night or early Thursday morning, so I know I shouldn't freak out yet. But I'm not having cramps like I normally do. I have had other symptoms I usually get the week before I bleed - mood swings, sore boobs, tiredness. I know it's a long shot, but...I guess I'm looking for someone ELSE to tell me not to worry, my protection wasn't compromised, or chances are slim-to-none that I ovulated. I know that missing one pill doesn't generally require back-up protection; however, I'm confused as to whether that applies to completely missing a pill, or just forgetting to take one for a day and then taking 2 the next. (Does that make sense?)

Bottom line: should I be worried about the potentially un-ubsorbed pill I took Friday?

Thanks a bunch everyone. I love this community, it is absolutely amazing.

My vagina just refuses to behave. So, I'm back. Again.

*sigh*

A couple weeks ago I discovered that I'd left my Nuva Ring in an extra week (during my usual withdrawal week) due in large part to general confusion caused my moving. No biggie, I decide to leave it in that 4th week, and then just switch it with a new ring during my usual insert time, the way people do when they want to skip a period.

Only three days before I was due to switch, I got a period anyway, despite being on the ring. This is clearly because some higher power hates me, but that's neither here nor there. The point is I had a period that lasted about 5 days, and I switched my Rings out during the normal time.

Greetings, for the last 4 days my nipples have been sore and more tender then usual to the touch! This is starting to get on my nerves for it is disrupting intimacy with my boyfriend and my sleep! I have woken up several times in the course of the night due to them hurting!! I have only had sore nipples like this once before, but it only lasted a day...so I did not think much of it!

I am currently on the birth control pill and my last period came and went like clockwork, it ended on the 16th and seemed pretty normal for me. I have not missed any pills either! Since being on the pill my breasts have been a little more on the sensitive side, which from my understanding this is normal and it is listed as a common side effect...Though being more sensitive, they have never been sore like this accept for that one other time!

I have lost weight though, I started a diet back in January and have dropped almost 40 pounds!! I was 231 pounds when I started and now weight 192/193 pounds. Could my weight loss have something to do with it?! I know weight can play a role when it comes to hormones! One reason I was put on the pill was, when I was 231 pounds my periods were very heavy, irregular and the cramps were the pits. The pill helped to regulate my periods and they became much lighter! Since dropping the weight my periods are starting to get heavy again...

What can be making my nipples hurt?! I can't take it anymore!!

Yes, I do have a GYN appointment but it is not until the 23rd...

I just saw a commercial for Cystex Cranberry. Apparently a tablespoon of this drink equals 8 glasses of cranberry juice! Sounds too good to be true. Anyone try it?

I'm scheduled to get Essure tomorrow. Originally, the procedure was scheduled for 9:30am. I got a call this morning pushing it back to 3:30pm.

Which brings me to my question: I have 2 doses of misoprostol I'm supposed to insert to soften my cervix -- one pill the night before and one "1 upon waking in the morning, or 2 to 4 hours prior" to the procedure. Made perfect sense when the procedure was in the morning, but now "upon waking" and "2 to 4 hours prior" are not exactly the same thing.

  1. Does the specific time even matter that much?

  2. If so, when should I take it?

I've already called my doctor and am waiting to hear back from the office. I've also spoken with my pharmacist, who was unfamiliar with this specific situation and, considering that the prescribing instructions were now ambiguous, referred me back to my doctor.

Hello!

For the past week, my vulva (and surrounding area) has been irritated.  It feels almost as though I have a few cuts around the vagina and anus.  I haven't had any odd discharge or smells or any other symptoms.   At this point it's not hurting, but for a few days it was really uncomfortably irritated and slightly painful.

This same thing happened once a few months ago, and it eventually went away on its own.  And something similar happened when I first started being sexually active, and I assumed it was my vagina/vulva adjusting.  But it's never happened around the anus so I'm a bit concerned about that.

I'm currently on antibiotics for malaria prevention (but took my last one yesterday!), making me wonder if it's a yeast infection.  But a few months ago when this first happened I wasn't on the malaria meds yet.

Also, I have an Mirena which might be impacting this somehow.

Does anyone have any idea what's happening?  Do I need to see a doctor or should I just wait to see if it goes away on its own like last time (especially considering I'm finally done the antibiotics)?

Thanks!

edit: Just thought I would add that both times, this happened right after I started having intercourse after not having sex for a while.  So it could also be related to having intercourse, I imagine.

So I'm on a pharmacy brand version of Alesse called Aviane.

I skipped my week of placebo pills on my last pack and went directly on to a new pack to delay my period from arriving at an inconvenient time. I took about 4 pills from the new pack and then on the 20th decided to go off them for 7 days to allow myself to have a period. On the 27th I continued with that pack and last night, the 28th, had unprotected sex.

So my question is, should the birth control be reliable in this case or should I be considering the morning after pill?

Even if the birth control wasn't effective, I shouldn't be fertile right after my period right?

Thanks for any help :)

Hi everyone.

I'm feeling incredibly frustrated with my situation right now. I've finally just stopped taking birth control completely and my partner and I have been abstaining from sex.

I've been using HBC from various brands for about two years now, and each one has given me some sort of awful symptom. The worst and most frequent is a constant burning and itching sensation in my bits, both internally and externally.

I've been to the doctor many times, and I've been prescribed creams to help with the discomfort.

My main issue is that I need birth control to prevent pregnancy. Condoms, of course, are an option, but my partner and I don't enjoy sex as much with them.

Unfortunately, my cervix is too small for a copper IUD. I even went through the experience of my doctor attempting to insert it. Yaz didn't give me the same symptoms, but it did give me a very frightening blood clot scare.

Has anyone else experienced the same symptoms with birth control? The burning and itching? If so, is there a type of HBC that you've tried that has worked? Not specifically a brand, but certain progestin/estrogen balances?

Any help or advice would be really appreciated!

Hey all. I just want to start by saying I'm a long time reader and really love this community. I've been reading through since my mid-early teens and it's really aided immensely in raising my self esteem and accepting my body and sexuality.

Anyway, I know there's a few very old posts about having difficulties with sex but this situation is a little different than the ones posted previously. I'm currently in a LDR with a guy who I'll be seeing in a week. I'd really like to be able to have sex once I finally get back, but we've had difficulties in the past. I'm not a virgin and have had a few sexual partners before him. It had been a while before I slept with anyone before him, however we've tried on multiple occasions to have sex and it just isn't working.
