Evening Superstars!

Last month my period was odd in that I had a very strong blood flow for about two days and then it basically fled altogether without a trace. Normally my period is an average flow the first day, heavy the second, and trails off for a few days. I also noticed that my flow was not as gooey as normal, just more blood.

I just got this month's period and it's being equally as strange. Not a heavy flow at all but when I sit in the bathroom [which always has triggered the blood to drop] its basically all blood and a few little blobs.

Is this something I should continue to keep my eye on? Is this a symptom of something else?
I should note that for about two days now I have been feeling very very warm, and I'm generally a cold person, incase this matters.

Thank you darlings for any advice in advance. I'll clear up anything if I hadn't made myself properly clear :]

ETA: The more I read about this online the more it sounds like dicidual bleeding. Well now I'm much more worried, even though my ex and I did not have unprotected sex and we haven't had a slip. I would really appreciate any words of wisdom :\

Not directly related to my vagina, but would make my vagina really happy because it will get to have sex!

Alright so my boyfriend and I are big nerds haha and I'm looking for nerdy lingerie that isn't so "costumey". Like you know the Sexy Superwoman Costumes they have at Halloween? I DON'T want that! I'm looking for something like a teddy or babydoll that happens to be nerdish. I feel like I need to invent babydolls that have tetris blocks on them or something for all my nerdy boys and girls out there!

mmm I guess that's all I'm really asking. This was inspired when we were watching the Friends episode where Chandler and Ross talk about Princess Leah and her gold bikini and my boyfriend got ridiculously excited haha. also Those stupid bikinis are like 100$ on the net!

Thanks my VPers!

I'm a little freaked out. Okay, really freaked out. I've always been sort of a hypochondriac, but more so after I was diagnosed with HPV about 7 or 8 years ago.

I've never had a cold sore in my entire life. At least not that I can even recall. I've been with the same person for the past 3.5 years and been faithful. I am about 99% sure he has been faithful as well, at least I have no real reason to think otherwise.

About either Sunday night or Monday morning (I don't recall) I noticed a reddish/pink spot on my upper lip, right where it meets the skin, at one of the peaks, if that makes sense. I have a photo or two that I tried to take myself and am hoping that someone can help by letting me know if they think this could be a minor cold sore (yes, I realize that's herpes) or if I'm overreacting and it's just a pimple. (I am going to attach a pic or two and hope the person posting this for me will put the pic under a cut.)

I'm always under stress, which I know can cause an outbreak if you have the virus. However, I know that you're supposed to feel a tingle or tautness of the area where it occurs or pain. I haven't felt any of that. I keep imagining that it hurts, but it doesn't unless I touch it or press on it. My lips and skin have been really dry in recent weeks, but I do get pimples from time to time (and I get them anywhere in the head/neck region, so it wouldn't be odd to have one on my upper lip area.)

Anyway, I would just really like some input if someone can help.

Like a complete idiot I reached for my allergy pills this morning and instead took my birthcontrol pill for the day. The issue being that I normally take them between 9pm and 10pm at night. So.. what should I do to not my pill schedule way out of wack? Not take one tonight and get back on schedule tomorrow? Take another one tonight and end up finishing my pack a day early? Also, if I don't take one tonight how long will my protection be compromised (i.e. how long do I need to use a backup method if at all?) If it makes any difference I'm on Kariva.

Thanks! This is way more problematic than when I used to pour OJ on my cereal by accident as a kid!

Hello VPers! I'm mostly posting this for your amusement/support and just generally as an overshare. Lovely admins: if it's inappropriate, please feel free to remove the post.

So, my boyfriend has 7 gigs of porn on his computer, which is just an obscene amount. For the most part, I find this hysterically funny (it has become a nickname, as in "hey, 7 gigs! get over here!"). I'll come back to this later.

I'm not getting laid as often as I would like, which is mainly due to both of us being ultra-busy with school/work/life and not always making time to see each other, and when we do see each other it is usually at the end of an exhausting day that leaves us both just wanting to snuggle and pass out.

This morning I got to thinking--if my boyfriend becomes unable to fall back on his ample porn collection to get off when I'm not around, and if I can't use my trusty toys to take care of myself, we might conceivably try to see each other more and maybe have even better sex than before! So I proposed a challenge: we both try to last a month without these aides (porn for him, vibes/toys for me). If either of us cracks before March 11th, that person has to do an amusing sexy dance of some kind.

I'm kind of nervous about surviving without toys, but also sort of excited to see what a sex life might have been like before the age of the interwebs or deluxe vibrators. My hope is that it will equate to a more intimate experience instead of both of us just being frustrated all the time. Anyway, wish me luck! And if any of you have tried anything like this before, feel free to share how it worked out for you. Thanks!

Hi superstars:

What are some good tampon tips and good tampon brands for someone who's attempting to use them for the first time in years and previously has never had success?

I'm due to start bleeding exactly the day (the 16th) that my partner and I join my family and some close family friends at in a ski chalet right on the mountain, something we've never been able to do before, and the chalet includes a private hottub I'd really like to take advantage of. Hanging out after a long of skiing in a hot tub is about my favourite thing to do. Usually, when I get my period, I just opt out of any swimming activities, although the overlap between swimming and my period doesn't happen too often. This time, I'm really disappointed. I'm loathe to miss out on everyone hanging out in the hottub reliving all the great wipeouts of the ski day.

I haven't tried using tampons since I was around 15 or 16, I think; I'm 21 now, and since my last attempts have become sexually active--I'm hoping a tampon might feel more comfortable now. Previously, I've had a lot of trouble locating a comfortable angle to insert the tampon, and the one time I actually got one in all the way (my one previous act of desperation so I could go tubing at the lake...), I know it couldn't have been in as it should, because I could feel it and was aware of it the whole time.

HELP!

Oh, and I'm in Canada, if that information helps in regards to recommending brands. And I'm a poor student.

Thank you so much in advance.

EDIT: I know all about diva, moon cups, et cetera. I'm not looking for recommendations for any of those products, although I might look into them later (I'd prefer to get a handle on being about to stand a tampon first). Basically I just want to find a quick-fix to this hottub situation, haha. I don't think I'm looking to become a regular tampon-user right now.

Hey guys, I'm really hoping you can tell me if i'm freaking out about nothing here or not.

Monday morning I woke up with what felt like a mild cold. Very tired, felt hot stuffy nose. I had gone to a party a few nights before and was still exhausted by it, so I decided to stay home and sleep a lot to recuperate. I haven't really gotten much better. In fact, today I feel worse. I'm coughing, too, and I feel much hotter than I did on day one, though I'm not sure if I have a fever or not. I don't know if this cold is related to anything, but I thought I'd mention it.

That night- Monday night- I went to bed with what felt like period cramps. I am not due to get my period for another two weeks. I am on the pill (Loestrin 24) and my periods are like clockwork. The next day I had heavy, dark spotting. I very rarely spot between periods. Not since I've started the pill. I did not miss a day. I have not had sex for two weeks, if that is relevant. I was surprised, but not alarmed because I'd felt cramping the night before. I only spotted for a few hours. This morning, however, I woke up to find that it had started again, and was even darker. The blood is basically black in color, which did alarm me.

Now, I figured that if I felt any unusual pain I should call the doctor. The thing is, I'm not really sure what "unusual pain" is anymore, because I have ulcerative colitis- a digestive disorder- which causes me to have frequent abdominal pains, to the point where I basically dismiss most pains as normal. On top of that, sometimes the pains I get that signal a flare up of ulcerative colitis feel nearly identical to period cramps. And last night I had an alarmingly upset stomach for no reason I could determine, which hurt my stomach so badly that I thought I was going to die. The pains are usually fairly sharp.

Now, basically my question is... should I see a doctor?

My gyno told me I have Polycystic ovary syndrome. I was heartbroken. I am only 18, but I plan to have a family when I'm older. I have always looked at children and felt a need to hold one and the idea that I have this is really discouraging despite how young I am.

Does this mean I won't be able to have a family? Am I infertile? Will I be able to get pregnant with treatment?

Can anyone tell me when this horrible pain will go away. I only had the Laparoscopy yesteday, I find it hard to sit, stand, walk and then lay back down.
Forget bending over its not an option and I'm meant to be back at work soon I don't think thats happening.
I can't walk around without hold my stomach because when my stomach moves I feel like I'm going to throw up.
I know its pretty normal but I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me when this will pass.

They put me on some painkillers because I'm in a fair amount of pain. And I woke up at 12am this morning to crying and pain so serve that I couldn't move much but its a bit better now.

I'm passing urine fine no pain there and only a little bit of bleeding/spotting.
They also did a cervical dilation and a uterine curettage but I wasn't told they were doing those till after it was done.

Hints on how to make me not hurt so much would be appreciated!

So I started HBC in November and took it for two months and then I wasn't sexually active so I didn't take it in January. When I started my period last Monday, the first, I started again since my boyfriend is coming to visit. My period was completely normal and ended on Thursday.
Last night I was cramping a little, and I went to pee and when I wiped there was blood on the toilet paper(well, it was like mucusy blood, but the mucus was all red if that makes sense. it wasn't straight liquid blood.) and when I woke up my panties were sorta stained but not enough to go through to the other side. Today I have been having coffee grounds like discharge when I wipe.
Is this normal to start HBC related spotting after you've been taking it already? I am still using the same brand.
Oh, I missed a pill sometime last week and I realized it on Friday and took two(the Thursday one was still there on Friday but I couldn't remember what day I missed and I didn't think it was Thursday).
:( I just hope it goes away because my boyfriend is coming to visit and the last time we had sex 2 days after my period ended I started pouring blood again  and it freaked him out. He thought he hurt me or something.

I get bad ingrown hairs when I shave which I hear is common for african american woman who shave, I'm mixed and my hair isn't of an african type but I have tried nair and it irritates my skin, I have waxed once and it was an epic fail, most all of my hair grew back in ingrown and so now I trim.

I would like to try some other types of hair removal just to mix it up. Suggestions? I know my options are limited but it really pisses me off that porn makes hairless woman sexy, I'm not dissing woman who remove their hair or woman who don't I'm just venting a little.

Thanks VPers!

{edit} what are peoples thoughts on bikini hair trimmers? I'm poor and don't want to spend the money on them if I wont like it, as well as I'm over weight and am wondering if anyone finds then annoying to use being curvy in the thigh and mound?

So, I was just checking my friends page, and while reading the comments to a post regarding Yaz, someone mentioned that you shouldn't take Yaz unless you have PMDD, because it could cause bad moodswings or something like that. (The thread of comments was getting kind of cluttered, so I thought I'd make a new post and ask for myself).

Background:
I've been on Yaz for the last two months, and it's the fourth brand of HBC I'm trying out. The two types of comibned pills I've previously tried both both caused me to get depressed, and Cerazette (a POP) gave me a never-ending period. Now Yaz, however, ain't even the same ballpark. My moodswings are getting ridiculous, and when I'm "down" it's the worst I've ever felt. However, I still have "good" days, when I feel fine, so I'm considering hanging in there to see if maybe it will settle down a bit.

This got a lot longer than I intended it to be, I just wanted to know more about the Yaz/not having PMDD thing, links to articles and such would be greatly appreciated. Also, anybodys personal experiences with Yaz and moodswings, and how it worked out for you.

On a sidenote, I've heard that if you have and IUD, tampons is a no-no, is that true?

TIA!

Ok so I used to be on Alesse but stopped taking it because it made me really sick after a few months. Today I noticed some spotting and realized that I was about to start my period. This completely freaked me out because a. I'm not due to start for another week and b. Valentine's day is on Saturday!!! c. I have a bikini wax scheduled for tomorrow. In my panic I started a new pack of birth control pills and took one at about 3, I figured this would bring my hormone levels back to normal and stop my period. About an hour later I didn't feel like one was enough so I gobbled down another pill.

I was just wondering if anyone else has started a new birth control pack on the first day of their period, and if so did it stop.

I'm seriously freaking out and really upset right now so anyone that could help out would be more than appreciated. Thanks

So I figure I should share this little experiment I have going on with my body with the community in case anyone has this question again

So I started the Nuva Ring about two weeks ago and have either had or been on the verge of getting a yeast infection. So I have been douching with apple cider vinegar (which normally kills a yeastir instantly for me) but it doesn't seem to be working. I have also been inserting acidoplius pills 2 to 3 times a day, and ingesting acidophilus much to no ado. I haven't had sex in two weeks and I am starting to go crazy from lack of sex. Should I go the other way? Should I attempt to re-basify??

Please help me!!!

TIA!

I have decided to start taking vitamins in hopes to help my health and chronic pain, but I want to make sure that the vitamins won't interfere with my birth control pills. I'm taking Microgestin Fe 1/20 and I'm not currently sexually active (I know I am probably weird for even asking this question when I am not even having sex..).

I have googled and found mostly nothing suggesting vitamins being a problem except for this:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

http://www.drugs.com/cdi/microgestin-fe-1-20.html

What do you all think? Should I just go ahead and call PP to make sure?
If it helps, these are the vitamins:

Hi! I haven't posted here (or on LJ at all, actually) in quite a long time, but I was randomly inspired to by a discussion on another blog about orgasms :)

My question is this: Everybody always talks about clit stimulation while having PIV sex, but how do you do it? This is silly, but the best analogy I could think of: for me, it's like trying to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time. It's too hard to concentrate on both! For what it's worth, I can get off pretty easily by rubbing against something, and take a little longer (but can still do it in a few minutes) using my fingers. I do have to do it in a very specific way though. It takes me a long time and a lot of concentration to come when my boyfriend is doing the work (whether it's manually, oral or whatever), and we don't often bother anymore. But even so, it shouldn't be as hard for me to get myself off during sex, right? Is this a problem for any of you?

So, I'm in this piercing community and we were discussing VCH's and a big discussion broke out as to shaved vulvas vs. natural vulvas.

So I have to ask, because I'm curious....

How do you keep your vulva?

Personally, I don't shave all of it, but I make sure that if I'm wearing a bikini bottom there's no hair sticking out. And I keep it pretty trim.

ETA: In honor of this discussion and as Stage Manager & Publicity Coodinator of my university's The Vagina Monologues, I'd like to post a quote from the "Hair" monologue:

I realized then that hair is there for a reason — it’s the leaf around the flower, the lawn around thehouse. You have to love hair in order to love the vagina. You can’t pick the parts you want.

ETA 2: A lot of people have been experiencing discomfort over the quote I posted. I only posted it because I wanted those who chose NOT to shave to feel comfortable too. I know when I tell some people that I don't shave all that much they don't say anything, but I definitely get an "Oh...I see." sort of response.

I apologize if I offended anyone!

Please try not to judge me too hard...I'm young and foolish, perhaps. I have a pretty silly question...can you get pregnant if you have sex while on your period? Most of the people that I have asked say "No, of course not! It's impossible!" But for some reason, I'm a bit nervous. I need some reassurance, if possible. Thank you so much.

I am asking this for a friend who i am concerned about.

There is a girl I work with that is six months pregnant and she just found out today that she contracted chlamydia from her cheating prick boyfriend. He is the only guy she's ever slept with so we know that it's from him. She has had the disease throughout her whole pregnancy but has not known about it. She was really upset about it and crying all day. I didn't know what to say to comfort her, I just told her that it's a good thing she found out before she gave birth because it could give the baby a bad eye infection or give the baby pneumonia. I guess what I want to know is:
What are the risks or permanent damage the fetus could incur because she has had chlamydia for so long?
If she takes antibiotics and the infection clears up will the baby be okay?
I was always told that the major risk of having chlamydia when you have a baby is it contracting pink eye upon delivery. Is this true?

She also found out that she is anemic. Will this cause any harm to the baby?

i just want to help her and (hopefully) give her some good news so that she can stop worrying about it. She has enough to worry about, really.
Thanks everyone!

Hi, all! This might be an annoying post. I apologize. Really, I'm just paranoid. My boyfriend and I have recently begun having sex. At first, I was okay with it, but now I'm starting to become more paranoid.

Not vagina related, but does relate to the female anatomy.

For the past two days, I have had a large pimple on the under portion of my left breast about the size of a Nickel in circumference. It's red in color and slightly raised. There has been some discharge, but no oder or anything out of the ordinary for a typical pimple.

I believe this is hormonally related since I also have some acne on my chin area as well. I also think it's due to friction with my underwire bra.

I'm not in pain, but there is slight discomfort.

So far I've tried to keep the area clean with soap and water and have gone bra-less when possible.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to treat it? Is there anything topical that I can apply or can take orally over the counter? ( I'm a 40 year old woman and sometimes and have had acne breakouts such as this around the time of my period or shortly after. So such a breakout isn't too unusual.)

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello, all of you other ladies out there who may be able to help me. I have a problem with some really bad itching downstairs. It's only at the edge of where my pubic hair ends and the pink bits start, not in the hair itself, or actually in or on the vagina. It itches to the point I am scratching in my sleep and sometimes have to do a funny dance while in public. Only in the past few days, though. I am imagining it's something horrible I haven't had treated yet and then I'll just feel pretty upset about it.

Background info : I have never had a YI or STI, there is no extra discharge or change in smell. Last time I was sexually active was August, and I had a pap/pelvic exam in Oct and was just fine.

Any drugstore creams/solutions?

Sometimes I think I will cry because it is so hard not to scratch. Please help me, before I go insane.
