Hey guys, I'm really hoping you can tell me if i'm freaking out about nothing here or not.
Monday morning I woke up with what felt like a mild cold. Very tired, felt hot stuffy nose. I had gone to a party a few nights before and was still exhausted by it, so I decided to stay home and sleep a lot to recuperate. I haven't really gotten much better. In fact, today I feel worse. I'm coughing, too, and I feel much hotter than I did on day one, though I'm not sure if I have a fever or not. I don't know if this cold is related to anything, but I thought I'd mention it.
That night- Monday night- I went to bed with what felt like period cramps. I am not due to get my period for another two weeks. I am on the pill (Loestrin 24) and my periods are like clockwork. The next day I had heavy, dark spotting. I very rarely spot between periods. Not since I've started the pill. I did not miss a day. I have not had sex for two weeks, if that is relevant. I was surprised, but not alarmed because I'd felt cramping the night before. I only spotted for a few hours. This morning, however, I woke up to find that it had started again, and was even darker. The blood is basically black in color, which did alarm me.
Now, I figured that if I felt any unusual pain I should call the doctor. The thing is, I'm not really sure what "unusual pain" is anymore, because I have ulcerative colitis- a digestive disorder- which causes me to have frequent abdominal pains, to the point where I basically dismiss most pains as normal. On top of that, sometimes the pains I get that signal a flare up of ulcerative colitis feel nearly identical to period cramps. And last night I had an alarmingly upset stomach for no reason I could determine, which hurt my stomach so badly that I thought I was going to die. The pains are usually fairly sharp.
Now, basically my question is... should I see a doctor?
