Hello,

I've watched this community on and off for a while and figured this might be a good place to go to see if I can get any advice.

I'm on the NuvaRing, have been for almost five months now (have been on it before, switched to Yasmin for a while because I couldn't afford the NuvaRing, now I can and I definitely prefer it)

I've had my period since I was twelve, I'm now nineteen. I've been on birth control since I was fourteen to regulate my periods and keep my cramps at bay and for the most part, it's worked pretty well. I can always predict within a few days when I'll have my period, I'm on a twenty one day cycle, I always get mild-moderate cramping and wicked mood swings a week before I get my period. My cycle has been like clockwork for quite a few years now.

This month has been really off and I'm not quite sure why. I stuck to my twenty one day cycle like I always do and didn't change anything, but for some reason, I've had brownish discharge which strikes me as being breakthrough bleeding throughout my entire cycle this month. Not only that, but I've had really bad cramping, pain radiating around my ovaries/fallopian tubes (primarily the left side) and my breasts have been really sore for the past week. There is no chance I'm pregnant, I haven't had sex in almost a year and a half, but I find it really strange that out of nowhere, my cycle goes crazy after it's been very predictable for years now.

I have an appointment with my doctor for the end of the month to discuss this. I'm due to take out my Ring on Thursday and should have my period by Saturday night at the latest. I've been thinking of having sex with a guy for quite a few months now but really want to hold off until I know why my cycle has all of a sudden changed. What could possibly have caused this? It's really frustrating and while I'm not overly freaked out by it, I am a bit worried... like I said, it's been like clockwork since I was 15-16, with the exception of varying severity in cramps, nothing has been less than completely predictable.

Thanks for the help, in advance :)

Edit: I just started my period a week early. I don't know if that's important in the context of this or not... Edit: Bleeding that started at 3am this morning is almost non-existent now, though I can't say for sure that it's completely gone. Again, seemed more like breakthrough bleeding than an actual period.

hi guys, i'm posting here because i'm quite worried about something, i'm a bit of a hypochondriac as it is.

basically, my periods have never ever been regular, from when i first started, the cycle length has always been random, and i'm sure at least once i've missed a period.

however, this month, at the time when i would expect my period to come on (ie i had sore breasts etc) it came but very very light and a light pink/brown. Just not strong at all. I just put it down to a random weird period, but have been very panicky about it and stressing myself out.

2 weeks on, and i'm still spotting. it's not enough to even bother putting on a period pad, its usually just when i wipe, occasionally it's in my pants but not often. i've also still sorta got period pains, ie the cramps, not majorly, but a bit.

do i need to be worried about this? or have i worried myself so much about my period that it's caused this weird bleeding, because i've been so stressed. i should point out that i'm overweight, and have probably put a bit of weight on lately.

i'm sorry to ask this question, i sound like a dick head hehe, but i get myself so worked up.

thanks guys xxx

Hello Vulvaluvin superstarz!

calling all Vaginageeks:

I was wondering if any of you ladies have iphones, and have used any of the apps for tracking periods. I saw two I like, iperiod and period tracker. both seem to have advantages and drawbacks, but the second one doesn't seem to track ovulation.

Anyone had experience with either of these apps, or other ones used to track female cycles?

I am a nursing mother to a 8 week old daughter. I plan on extended nursing as I did with my son. I recently went in for my 6 week postpartum appointment and had a culture and pap done as well. Late last week a nurse for the Nurse Practitioner in the office (who I have never seen) called to tell me that my culture came back showing I had a bacterial infection and since my midwife was out of the office they wanted to get this taken care of for me and wanted to know which pharmacy to call in a prescription for Flagyl for me. I had previously taken Flagyl (before either of my children) and had a problem keeping it down, it severely upset my stomach. I explained this to the nurse and also asked her if I could even take Flagyl while breastfeeding. She stated she didnt know if it would be okay and that she didnt even know I was postpartum. Wow, the NP was willing to write a prescription for me without even consulting my chart? I had been in less than a week early and watch my midwifes nurse chart that I exclusively breastfeed. The nurse called back and said no I couldnt take Flagyl while breastfeeding unless I pumped and dumped so the NP had already called in a prescription for Clindamycin HCL cream to my pharmacy and that I could take that while BF with no problems. I picked up the precripstion yesterday and looked at the insert which said "Clindamycin has been detected in human milk after oral or parenteral administration. It is not known if clindamycin is excreted in human milk folllowing the use of vaginally administered clindamycin phosphate. Because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from clindamycin phosphate, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother". I read that as "dont take while nursing". I called the pharmacist and she said "That wording is on every single drug so that the drug companies can cover themselves legally. I believe it is safe for you to take this and nurse". I still feel uneasy.

Has anyone here taken Clindamycin while nursing? Is it safe for me to do this? I plan on calling my midwife on Monday because I am supposed to go in Friday to have an IUD put in and I want her opinion on this and to see if there is something else I may be able to take. I feel uncomfortable taking something that in my opinion says not to take if you are nursing. Am I wrong? Is this safe?

Hi all, I have a quick question concerning a possible infection of some sort.

My only symptom is extreme itching around the vaginal opening and redness (I assume from the itching). No discharge, no odor, no other symptoms.

Will a yeast infection treatment help? Any ideas on what this is and how I can cure it?

I'd been stacking for 4 months due to medical reasons/problems, and was going to continue stacking but decided that I'd have my period this time (am on it now)
I started bleeding before the end of the packet but didn't really care.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM

The second last pack I was taking I MESSED UP. I'm on Logynon ED a triphasic and accidentally took one of the tablets too early, so I took the actual one that was meant to be taken aswell. No real drama I just kept going with my pill as per normal, just you know a day ahead on my packet. Well now that I'm bleeding, and am on the placebo week should I start up again on the ACTUAL day or wait one extra? I just don't know what to do. I'm half tempted to start this coming monday and only be on the placebo's for 3 days as I'm slightly scared I'll bleed at my specialists appointment on the 15t for some reason.

So continue a day early? or wait the day and start up at the normal time that I would start?

I had sex with someone who I was dating on Xmas eve and the condom broke. He said he didnt ejaculate but I dont know because immediately after it broke he was done and laid down. My lmp was Dec 5 and according to MyMonthlyCycles.com my period was due 12/31 and I still havent got it. I am pretty regular so now I am very unsure. Am I worrying for nothing?

A while back I posted that my boyfriend and I weren't too thrilled with the Trojan Ultra Thins because they dried out fast. I also said the Extended Pleasure ones took TOOO LONG so it didn't work for me and he couldn't feel much. I asked for some of your recommendations and wanted to let you know we tried a few of them! Our favorite by FAR is the Durex Extra Sensitive. We will not be using anything else from now on! [Except our left over Trojans, haha, can't waste money!] Just wanted to say thank you times a million for your recommendations!! They're the next best thing to condomless sex!!

I'm not sure if I have ever posted here before, and if I have, then it was a long time ago.  I tried to be sure I read through all of the rules and posting guidelines before submitting this post, but I apologize in advance if I break any of them!

Last month, my period was about a week late.  It did finally come, on the 17th of December.  It came for about a day and a half, and then it went away for about a day... then it came back and went away again, and then it came back for a final time and has not left since.

I have been on my period for about 17 days now.

Back when my period was a week late, I took a pregnancy test and it was negative.  Now I am starting to wonder if what I am experiencing could be symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy, but I am weary of this idea since I never had a positive pregnancy test.

I have been experiencing nausea and diarrhea for about the last week and a half.  Currently I am feeling pain in my right pelvic area, along with slight cramps that feel a lot like menstrual cramps.

I have no medical insurance right now but I am considering seeing a doctor (either going to Planned Parenthood or the Emergency Room...) because these symptoms are really starting to frighten me.  Does anybody have any insight?

For what it's worth; had my period come normally last month, I would be starting a new period today.

Hi guys. I've been on Logynon ED for around six months. I wanted to skip my period for new years eve so I didn't take my one week of placebo tablets and instead just started a whole new packet. Thing is, it looks like I've got my period. If I had taken my placebo pills, I would've gotten my period last Tuesday. I started bleeding two days ago and I thought I was just spotting, because apparently it's common to spot on when you've skipped a period.

But today I've been bleeding solidly for around 9 hours. I also have really bad back cramps, which I usually get when my period arrives but these ones are the worst I've ever had. I have no idea what I did wrong. My pill is the kind that has 6 brown tablets, 5 white, 10 yellow tablets and 7 white placebo tablets. Can I not skip a period with these kind of tablets? What happens now? Do I just keep taking my pills as normal? Am I still protected from pregnancy? What happens once I get to placebo week? Will I bleed again? Or have I completely messed up my pill-taking? Sorry for all the questions haha. Thanks in advance!

Anyone here have or use to have PCOS? How bad is it, and what are you doing for treatment?

My husband and I want to start having kids, but I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and I'm worried that I won't be able to have kids. I am planning to go see my doctor this month and talk to her about the possibility of conceiving, but I wanted to know if anyone has had it and if you were able to get pregnant, if there was any difficulties with the pregnancy, etc. I like hearing some real cases and not just facts the doctor will tell me.

I have bad luck with shaving down there - I'm clumsy, and I hate the little ingrown hairs I get occasionally. Waxing doesn't appeal to me because I am, sadly, a huge wuss when it comes to hair removal (I get a little teary eyed still when they wax my eyebrows!) and I don't like the idea of someone poking around down there with goopey stuff and a spatula.

So I was thinking about just buying a trimmer, like men get for their beards, and using that to cut it very close. Anyone have experience with this? Tips and tricks? Brands of trimmers to look for?

I've been having a repetitive problem during sex that is really annoying. Everytime I do it with my bf, my "chode" I'll call it, rips a little and bleeds a bit. No matter how much time I wait between sex, or how lubed up I am, it still happens. Is there anything I can do to avoid it? Thanks!

Normally I'm really good about taking my pills at six a.m. every day and school regulates that. However, between travelling and whatever over break I missed like four, started to get my period, and freaked out took two that day, and two more today. Not thinking. I was on week two of the pack, and I don't know if it makes a difference but I take Mircette.

I'm looking to buy a waxing kit for everything I currently shave including my pubic area, my under arms, and my legs.

I want something that is really good quality like the ones they have in salons because all the cheap waxing I have tried does not work at all.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

late period

Hello, I have a question about a late period. I'm accustomed to my period being a few days late due to stress, but I've never had it as late as it is right now. My period has always come about every 30 days (25-35 days) but I'm at day 43 now. I'm well aware that it could be due to stress - my grandmother passed away the week before Thanksgiving, then I had finals, then there were more holidays. But I've also been a vegetarian for the past 11 weeks, and I'm worried that I might have developed a nutrient deficiency. I still eat fish, dairy, and eggs. Since I noticed my period was late, I've been taking a multivitamin every day and trying to round out my diet as much as possible. I haven't had any sexual contact for 2 months, so I'd say it's pretty unlikely that I'm pregnant.

Is there anything I should do aside from try to relax, improve my diet, and wait? I'm not trying to "induce" my period, but I want to do whatever I can to be healthy. Thanks.

Does anyone find that bras at Victoria's Secret are too small? How about how they measure you?

For instance, I measured myself to be a 34B. I was 30" under breast, so I had to add 4" to get the band size, 34. I was 36" at the widest part of my chest which makes a B cup. I was measured to be a 34C when I went to Victoria's Secret, but the size that fit my right was 34D and the sales associate couldn't explain it. To be honest, the D doesn't even look to be a D, it looks like it should be a C. I tried many different bras to come to that conclusion.

Not exactly vagina related, but I'm curious.

I've googled this, but clinical definitions are not what I need right now. I'm wondering, for those of you who have experienced breakthrough bleeding, what did it entail? How long did it last? When did it stop and how? Did it happen over and over again? I feel like I'm bleeding much more than I'm not these days. I go to a clinic and the nurses there won't check me out. They just keep changing my pill, telling me that I'm 'spotting' or 'experiencing breakthrough bleeding.' To me, spotting meant just that. S P O T T I N G. Not filling up a tampon less than 2 hours after putting it in on the second active week of my pills, not bleeding for 12 days straight, then not bleeding for three, then bleeding for another 15. Is this 'breakthrough bleeding?' I'm on Femcon right now, and when this pack is over, I'll be switching to Ortho Tri Cyclen Low (the $40 a month is worth it if it stops this bloody trainwreck!) I had a C-section about 5 months ago, and I'm concerned this is tied to it. Should I get a second opinion? Should I just keep switching pills until I find one that doesn't make me bleed my life away? What was the worst 'breakthrough' bleeding episode you ever had?

Someone made a post earlier inquiring about the possibility of women becoming increasingly doubtful regarding their birth control pills and I chimed in to say that I had been contemplating posting a question regarding pills and pregnancy since I'm embarassingly ignorant and can't find answers via the interwebs.

Anyway - I've always been a very paranoid person when it comes to my periods. I've been on OrthoCyclen/Sprintec [the generic] for nearly 7 years now and have had no problems, no missed periods, nothing. In past years, I have gotten careless with the pills - forgetting to take them, taking them at completely random intervals [instead of at the same time every day], and even messing with my timeline to accommodate things going on in my life that would be inconvenienced whilst on my period. When I've been in relationships, though, I try to be very good because the last thing I need OR want is to get pregnant.

Back to the paranoia - when I'm sexually active and taking my pills, I always get worried the weekend before I'm supposed to start, that I'm pregnant. I've never shown signs of a possible pregnancy, but it still lingers at the back of my head. However...

this got a little long for exposition purposes )
