So i get really really frusterated with friends when they are so stead fast on something. The something these friends are steadfast about is condoms and STI's. Tonight we got in a really heated argument about if condoms offer protection from STI's and if so how much.  I know that condoms help protect, I have heard this many many times from most of you wonderful people. I am wondering as my googleing skills are next to none if any of you have links to actually numbers about condoms and STI's.

Thank you guys so much :)

Hey VP-ers...

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've been really awful about my birth control this week since I started keeping it in a different place. I started the pack on Friday. On Saturday we had to sleep in a motel since we were out of power from a tropical storm, so I forgot them at home then. I took it when I got home the next morning. On Tuesday I forgot again and then lost the pill I was supposed to take (ridiculous, I know). Then last night I forgot again.

What do I do? I looked at Yaz's website but they tell you if you miss pills in a row what to do. Should I still do that and take two pills in a row for the next few days, plus use protection for the next week?

Also, my boyfriend and I had sex last night. I'm thinking of getting Plan B to be safe. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Okay my story starts like this. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex 2 days before my last period. He did not ejaculate inside of me. I am on birth control so I was on my one week of sugar pills. I got my period two days later like normal, on clock work. Since then whenever me and my boyfriend had sex I would be on the pill and he would wear a condom.

Two weeks ago I noticed bleeding. I went to the doctor and it turned out to be a UTI (I also had a yeast infection). Since I have an anxiety disorder, the fact that me and my boyfriend had sex with out protection kept bothering me so I asked the doctor to do a blood pregnancy test, she did and it came back negative.

Now today my period is supposed to start. It has been regualar since I was 15 and usually it is there when I wake up. When I woke up and it wasnt there, I freaked out. I took two home pregancy tests and both came out negative. However 5 hours later, its still not here. I am on the verge of tears because I have no idea what is going on. Is it stress? Was it the meds I was on for the UTI and yeast? I also take 800mg of IBprophin 3 times a day. Or am I pregant. Could a blood test be wrong? I have no idea what is wrong, if Im not giving it enough time, if Im stressing myself out.

Please anything to help me calm down.

I've been having sex for about a month and while it's wonderfully enjoyable, I get to a point every time where everything feels much more intense and it's honestly scary and I just have to stop. After a moment I'm okay again, but end up in the same state fairly quickly. My boyfriend doesn't mind, but it's a bit frustrating. More so for me than for him.

Positions with G-spot stimulation seem to make this worse. He thinks I'm getting very very close to orgasming. I've never been able to orgasm, as with masturbation it gets too intense to really concentrate on moving my fingers anymore. He's also mentioned that I seem much more sensitive than either of his past girlfriends. I'm not particularly worried about orgasming, if it's going to happen, it will, but I'd like to not have to stop really good sex because it feels so much. I'm really sick of it scaring me.

Hello, I'm new :)

Before I get started, I want to state that I do plan on consulting a doctor, I just wanted to get some insight in the meantime.

Expandcut for length... )
Thank you :)

Hey VPers. I've been a lurker for quite a while now, and now I've decided to come out of my shell & ask some important questions. I hope I'm doing this right.

Expanda little about me + my problem at current. )

Anyway, I wanted to ask a few things from people who have had breast reduction. I'm more than happy to hear from people with information as well, but Googling it gives me a good overview on what I should expect, recovery, etc.

I, however, want to hear about personal experience more than anything else.

Some of the main questions I have are: What were the steps you took to have it done? How big were your breasts before the operation? What size were they afterwards? Did your health insurance cover the surgery? Did you have a choice on how low you wanted to go (especially if your health insurance covered it)? How long did it take you to recover? Was it painful?

Thanks so much in advance. I'd really appreciate to hear some stories.

EDIT; Just wanted to say thanks again for everyone who replied, and I think I'll take all of this over to [livejournal.com profile] breastreduction, since that's what the community is for. :)

I'm still a virgin, but I'm very familiar with my lady parts and I've noticed that my vagina has less elasticity than is considered normal. Lubrication is not the source of the problem though as I always use lubricant when examining myself, but my vagina still will not accomodate anything larger than my index finger. I've also determined that my hymen is not the cause of the problem either, so I really have no idea why my vagina is so unusually tight. If I try to insert anything larger than my finger I actually feel pain and a lack of expansion. Does anyone what this could be due to?

Well, hello everyone, first time posting here, though I've lurked for a long time and learned a lot from this community.

Basically, this is more of a 'just to be safe' question I am posing you. I lost my virginity yesterday night (about some 36 hours ago) in totally unexpected circumstances and neither of us had a condom in handy - I'm not extremely worried about it since I was in my 2nd to 3rd day of menstruating and he only got in once, after which there was some amount of pain and blood and he didn't insist to finish off in any way (I feel I was really lucky in this matter). And although he claimed he'd had his 'balls cut off', to quote directly, I know that it can reverse, depending on what method was used. Now I'd rather not take any form of EC as I've heard there can be nasty side effects but I still want to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Still, my main problem is that it still hurts down there; I'm pretty sure (though not 100%) it's either the clitoris or the vulval vestibule that is still tender and hurts and my theory is that it's from overstimulation, it hurt sometimes when he was using his fingers a bit too roughly, though again I might be wrong.

And thanks a lot for any answers I might get!

My period was four days late, which isn't anything weird for me, my cycles are usually a few days off. But when I got my period today it was heavy and had a lot of big, noticeable clots right away, it didn't spot then get heavier like it normally does, I had to go straight for the super duper sized pads... it was just BOOM! Is there something wrong with me? I'm a little freaked out.

I hope this fits here, if not please delete.

Has anyone here read The Story of V by Catherine Blackledge? I consider buying it but I hardly find any reviews for it online. So if anyone has it, would you say it is recommendable? How about The Naked Woman by Desmond Morris?

Any other book recommandations for (more or less) science books on females?

So I went to PP and they checked me out and said everything was normal. Yay! BUT I got my third depo shot the same day because it was due very soon. Now I will start bleeding unexpectedly and then it will stop. Hour or so later, I will bleed again and then it will stop. Now I woke up this morning and was all like oh yea because I am visiting the bf and who wants to bleed during visiting time you know? Its not an outrageous amount of blood but unexpectedly bleeding and ruining panties and catching me off guard with the guy wouldn't be a good thing. I don't know what is causing this, anyone have a clue?

Its something like this will ruin a good weekend.

I've had BV twice before and I seem to have it again. My problem (besides the BV) is that I recently moved to Pittsburgh and don't have a doctor. Does anyone live in Pittsburgh and can recommend me one? I've been searching and the Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC keeps coming up so I think I'll try and call there tomorrow and see if I can get in.
[identity profile] sutaseiu.livejournal.com
I love it, and I'm thinking about going back on it (I've been off birth control for well over a year now, if not close to two years), but last time I asked my (new) doctor for it, he said that it was linked to clots. I didn't particularly care, as I fail at pills, refuse to get the shot, and the patch wasn't great for me. But now that I'm considering getting back on it (not for birth control, but for other hormone related benefits), I'm curious. Is this clot thing just the standard birth control = higher risk of clots, or does nuvaring have a higher risk?

Also, a real quick question, as the community search thing just doesn't work for me; can someone point me in the direction of a general health/nutrition community? I want to work on improving my diet, but I can be very picky, and it tends to be hard to find interesting, healthy food that doesn't have tomatoes or onions.

Alternatively, does anyone know if nutritionists are covered in Canada? I'm in BC.

Oh, and, any idea how long it takes for aprilmdesigns to ship pads? I'm not in a rush, but I ordered some and I'm excited to get them.

Hey there,

I've been on Yaz since March when my gyno gave me six months of sample packets (that was so awesome). It has really cleared up my skin and I'm very happy with it. Unortunately, I am nearing the end of my freebies and have got to get a prescription but Yaz is much more expensive than the other that they were recommending.  I would switch but I'm worried that I'd start breaking out again.  Is that an unfounded worry?  Also, do you ladies have any recommendations for cheaper BC pills that also help clear skin?

Thanks a lot!
[identity profile] purpleparrotss.livejournal.com
Okay. So, here goes nothing.

So, lately I noticed that the skin from my inner thighs and my lady parts is really dark. It used to be super itchy before but not its not so much. I tried a lot of things, but it has not gone away. I just recently shaved as well, and the itching has gone down a lot more, but its still dark around that area. I know I should see a doctor, but I am more embassed about waiting to see someone about it than anything , and I am sort of scared what it could be. My periods are normal and I've yet to have any sex.

Just some questions I've been wondering about:

(1)
One side of my labia minora/inner labia is kind of large and it extends past my outer labia when they aren't spread. While I know that this is natural, the constant brush of my inner labia against my underwear feels uncomfortable/itchy/slightly painful at times. My question is, does this occur to many of you, and what can I do to ease the aggravation of my sensitive tissue?

(2)
I have heard that most perfumed soaps aren't good for the vulva/vagina/general sensitive area, but how else is one supposed to wash one's privates? Is it okay to wash the clit hood with soap? What about the pinkish area just outside the inner labia, where the dead skin cells and oils collect? They don't seem to go with just water!

(3)
Is shaving cream/foam necessary for shaving around the vulva/mons? Does it harm the sensitive tissue? For hairs that grow within the region of pink membrane/skin just outside the inner labia, how do you shave them? They don't go with waxing, do they?

Thanks, everyone!
