Hi,

(Sorry if this has been asked before.)

The past 5 or so periods of mine have been really clotty. They're big too... usually a few 1 inch x .25 inch clots a day. About 4 or 5 days of just thick dark clots that seem to build up behind my tampon. It's so ANNOYING. It makes my tampons kind of... slip, or something. I have to change them a lot more often... and when I do they're only half soaked.

I'm 22 years old. I've been taking a generic version of Desogen (I get it really cheap through my university, so I'd rather not switch) for about 2 years now. My cycle used to be really irregular and crampy... but since I started the pill it seems to have settled at right around 28 days and it's not as painful. I have this dark sticky light period for 2 days then as I said, several days of clots.

Any advice? Words of sympathy?

I feel like my GYN will just try and switch me to a different, more expensive pill. I'm not really sure paying $30 more a month is worth it. If there might be some sort of underlying problem though, I'll make an appointment. I'd heard this is normal though....

Okay so some backstory: I am not very prone to UTIs but I have had 2 in the past.  last week I saw my bf more than usual and in 5 days we had sex 5 times. the next day I was so sore and I figured it was just from our crazy past 5 days (because we aren't usually "do it every day" people).  When I went to the washroom there was some blood on the toilet paper after I had gone pee and it hurt to go pee as well. I figured I must have just gotten a small tear.  After some inspection with a hand mirror there was no visible tear on the outside of my vagina.

The bleeding was there for 2 days but then it stopped and the pain also stopped.  This morning (this is about 2 days after I thought everything was cleared up) I went to the washroom and there was blood again after I wiped. I'm freaking out a little but I'm also getting my period next week so I don't know if this is breakthrough bleeding.  Oh and there has been no sex this week, because I didn't want to anger my vagina lol.

I know the best thing would be to see a doctor but where I live doctors pretty much don't work on weekends unless you go to the emergency room and wait 6 hours, so I thought I would get some feedback here first.

Thanks for the help!

I've been reading over this community for awhile, but I've never posted before, and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I've been on the ring for about 5 months, I believe. I have particularly bad cramps when I get my period, and when I was prescribed the ring I was told I could use the ring continuously to avoid them altogether. That being said, I used the first two rings continuously and about a week into the third, I experienced some serious vaginal pain. It was VERY painful to have sex and I became very dry and it was almost impossible to pee/wipe it was so painful. I went back to Planned Parenthood and I was told to try using the ring as directed, 3 weeks in 1 week out. But being the stubborn person that I am, I went back to my original schedule.

This is the first ring since my last appointment and yesterday when I had sex with my boyfriend I suffered from a burning pain that went away after a few minutes, but later in the day when we tried again the pain was so severe that I couldn't go through with it. This is definitely not the first time we've had sex since I've had this ring in, either. I don't know if this would have anything to do with the fact that I'm stacking the rings, or if it could be something else. Before this I've never had any kind of UTI or anything of the sort that I'm aware of so I don't even know if that's what it could be.

Oh, and during the last month I still got a period, despite the fact that I still had my ring in, and it lasted 7 days, far longer than I've ever had before.

Sorry if this is all over the place, I wasn't sure how to word it. But thank you to anyone who might be able to help me out.

My mom (age 48) is getting a planned hysterectomy next Tuesday. She'll be spending the night at the hospital Tuesday night, which is standard procedure where she's having it. My aunts and grandmother (her sisters and mother) will spend the day with her at home on Wednesday, and I'm spending the night Wednesday night and probably most of Thursday. My question is, is there anything in particular I should be prepared for? Is there anything in particular I'll be able to do for her, besides just making sure she's comfortable and can get to the bathroom and eat? Basically, I'm looking for any advice/stories people can share. My mom's been looking forward to getting this done for a while, and I just want to help the recovery period go smoothly for her.

ETA: My dad is on a business trip outside the country, but he is getting back on Friday, at which point he'll take over the major caretaking. But until then, my aunts, my brother, and I are holding down the fort.

So, for the first time in a year in a half of taking them, I've forgotten my pills. To make a long story short, I'm at my boy's house for a few days and left my new pack at home. I'm due to start them tomorrow morning and won't be home until Tuesday night. That would make three missed pills. From what I've read, if you miss three pills in a row, you keep taking them until Sunday and then start a new pack. Since I haven't started, I'm not too sure what to do. I don't want to start the pack when I get home, because a Wednesday start is kinda wonky. I know it would probably be best to wait until next Sunday and then start the pack, but would it be harmful to take two when I get home on Tuesday, then two on Wednesday morning at the normal time to catch up?

I'm on Alesse, if that makes any difference.

so, i'm thinking about inducing my period a week early with parsley tea. my question is- will doing this make my period last longer than usual? i read something in here in the memories where someone said that she was able to induce her period a week early but that the period lasted for 10 days, which defeats the purpose. have you induced your period a week early with parsley tea? how much did you use? how often did you drink it? was it successful?

Hi all :) I just joined, but this comm's wealth of knowledge is legendary, so here's my question:

What could be causing aching in my very low pelvis and vaginal area? I usually get extremely sharp aching thereabouts before and sometimes during my period. At times the aching is so intense that it'll wake me up in the middle of the night. Nothing really helps it but just waiting it out. I am 20, not sexually active, and am not on BC. I go for my annual GYN appointment next month, but I figured I'd ask here for some preliminary advice.

Thanks in advance!

I am SO sorry if this is TMI but I'm kind of worried.
Since I've started birth control (about 6 months ago) I've noticed some changes in my stool. At first it was minor but now quite often I am seeing abnormal amounts of mucus when I go #2. It's kind of freaking me out. There is no blood, and no other symptoms. Has anyone else dealt with this or could I be dealing with something more serious than a side effect?

Just before I get my period, maybe three days beforehand, I get this weird kind of white stuff on and around my vagina. Not mucous discharge, but like cottage cheesy. Perhaps discharge is the wrong word to use - it's more of a thing that just appears on and around my vulva/vagina area for about two days before completely disappearing. I've had this for as long as I can remember. Does anyone know what it could be? And is it normal?

Hi, just after a bit of advice.

[identity profile] hercurvestofear.livejournal.com
Starting monday 7-7-08 I had a dull pain in my pelvic region. I wasn't really sure what it was. I started thinking maybe I'd pulled a muscle or something and by thrusday the pain was gone. On friday however the pain came back a little worse than before. My boyfriend and I had sex that night and today (saturday 7-12-08) the pain is pretty bad. Sitting hurts, standing hurts, walking hurts. Stairs are the DEVIL! I hate whoever invented stairs, they were clearly out to get me. For the life of me I can't figure out what this pain is, I'm not so sure its a muscle anymore. I went to a doctor today because of a bug bite I have on my ankle but the doctor didn't seem to have any ideas. He tested me for a UTI and I don't have one. I know exactly where the pain is, and I showed him but he still didn't know. I'm going to make an appointment with my gyno tomorrow and hopefully get this figured out.

The pain is on my right side, I was looking at diagrams of the female reproductive system to see what might be where this pain is located. I'm fairly certain this is where my right ovary is. I'm so not excited about this at all. I haven't had any discharge, odor, itching or any of that. Just this pain in this one specific spot. Does anyone have any ideas? Educated guesses? Anything?

So, I was wondering what the best way to bring up the fact that I have herpes both orally and genitally to a new potential partner is. The thing is, I want to be upfront about it from the beginning, which would mean telling him even before a possible first kiss. Monday night is the first date I will have been on since my boyfriend and I broke up, which means that this is the first new person I will have to tell since I found out that I have herpes. I don't want to scare him off. See, when I first found out, my boyfriend kind of freaked. He wouldn't even have sex with me for the last two months of our relationship because it made him uncomfortable. So, what is the best way to tell a new potential partner that I have herpes, without scaring him away?

PS. Sorry this sounds so rambley... I just got off work and I'm pretty tired.
