So it turns out I have bacterial vaginosis, and my doctor gave me an antibiotic...and I remember her saying "do NOT drink while you're on this"..but I don't remember what she said after that, i.e. what the unpleasant effects would be. Well, I totally forgot I was on an antibiotic, and last night had a few drinks. I don't feel any different yet, but has anyone ever drank on an antibiotic that you aren't sposed to drink on? What happens?

I started using birth control (specifically Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo) in late February, right at the end of my period. I am on the final week of my second month's worth, and tonight I'll take the first placebo pill. I was just wondering how many months it typically takes someone to adjust to their birth control so that when they start the placebo week they also start their period.

Also, I've been getting my prescriptions from Planned Parenthood of Georgia, but my family is a member of Kaiser Permanente, and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get a prescription from PP and give it to KP for cheaper than I'm probably paying to PP? Would the pills themselves change? (they're currently three shades of blue and green placebo pills in a circle with a yellow case, if that helps). I heard that if you change the method of BC it can take months to get settled again.

My boyfriend and I just had sex. This is the first time that he has came inside of me. When I was at plan parenthood not too long ago to be put on birth control, they said that I may want to come back in and be tested for infections. (at the time I had signs of it) After getting on birth control, those signs actually went away. I decided to postpone getting tested for an infection. I realize that this was a stupid idea now.

Immediately after he had came inside I started to feel this unbearable burning sensation. I still have it now and I don't know what it is or what to do. I'm thinking it may be the mysterious infection from before. Can some over the counter meds relieve this until I can get into plan parenthood and get tested? (Vagisil or something...) What is it? What can I do?! I'm still in A LOT of pain.

i am not at this time on hormonal BC, nor do my boyfriend and i use condoms (we are both pretty allergic to latex, etc, it just wasn't working out well for us). we have both been tested and have no STDs.

when we have sex he simply pulls out every time, and, never ejaculates inside me.

the only exception to this is about once a month on the 2nd or 3rd day of my period i let him come inside me.

this method of birth control works better for me then any i have tried. no hormones to mess with my libido, no rashes or horrible dryness problems. it really almost gave me my sex life back, so to speak.

my question mostly is this: i've read SO MANY conflicting things about it, as far as effectiveness, so how effective is it really? most of the statistics i see posted have an obvious bias (aka, planned parenthood wants you to think it is more or less 0% effective)

has anyone used this method long term w/o FAM? i've been using it for around 3 months at this point in time

(ps. to prevent drama i just wanted to ad that i have made an informed descision about this to the best of my ability and am not just being careless with my health)

thanks guys :)

My gine looks like this
but I'd rather it look like this ..

I used to make fun of vaginas with "beef curtains," but recently I took a look ~downstairs~, and uhh mine are bigger than I thought.
I could be getting laid soon, but I'm scared to take my undies off...

Should I just assume he won't care... or assume that he won't be surprised because brunette girls tend to have bigger labia.... (judging from porn) .. . ?

I'm scared he's going to look down there & say "who ordered Arby's..." ...

This is probably a dumb concern.

Still, does sex hurt more if you have big labia?  (from getting pulled in & out ...) ?

*edit*
lost my virginity last night...   o_O
pulled em apart, no pain.
thanks for all your comments.. made me feel a lot less insecure!

pubic itch

So just the other night after I took a shower, I started getting this itch in my pubic hair area.  I don't shave my pubic area and I'm not sexually active.  I'm positive that I haven't shared towels or anything with anyone and I also don't use public bathrooms.  Therefore, I don't think it's possible that I have pubic lice or crabs.  It doesn't itch as much today as it did yesterday, so I'm hoping that's a positive sign that it's nothing major.  However, I could be wrong.  So if anyone has any ideas, please enlighten me!  And if this has happened to anyone, how did you make the itching stop?  Thank you!

So lately I've been struggling with a really potent kidney stone, to the point where my entire abdomen HURTS.

A dermoid cyst - 5cm was recently found on my left ovary, and I'm starting to mix the pain from the stone with the cyst(which hasn't been bothering me at all), I don't know whats what anymore.

My cobra paperwork has still not gone through with my insurance, so I'm just dealing with this with pain meds.

I was just wondering, if a dermoid cyst ruptures, can it be fatal if not treated? I probably don't want to know, I've already freaked myself out enough, but right now I can't afford more doctors bills for this thing. Pain I can handle, death, not so much...

Any words of wisdom you can give me on dealing with a dermoid? How big does it have to get before it can cause a problem?

A little history, I'm currently starting the 3rd week of my first pack of Desogen. Im 30 and Im not currently sexually active. I recently had an exam and full STD workup. So Im not overly concerned about this, but I occasionally have spotting after an orgasm. This is from clitoral masturbation, so I know its not from a scratch or rough penetration.

Sometimes its just a few spots, yet today it was all day spotting. Not heavy enough for a pantyliner, but the TP was bright red every time I used the restroom. I didnt think to mention this when I had my exam since it hadnt happened in a while. Im just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I assume its from the contractions of orgasm, but Im not sure if I should be concerned.

Ok, so last Sunday I switched from Ortho Tri, to the Nuvaring. I skipped my placebo week on my OTC, and inserted my ring like my doctor suggested. I began bleeding Sunday night (i normally begin bleeding the first day of my placebo) I was expecting a full blown period, or spotting. But I have been bleeding for a week now!!! (my normal period is normally 4 days) It's somewhere between spotting a a full blown period... but still!!! What is going on here? I'm tired of bleeding!!! When will it stop? Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I be worried?

Is this a good judge of how my body will react to stacking? I plan on (as my doctor suggested) Leaving my ring in for 4 weeks and inserting another ring on the day of removal to skip periods. I'm hoping to be able to go 3 months between periods, but would settle for 2. I'm beginning to get nervous at this point that my body just likes to bleed and it will never stop (ok- perhaps I'm getting a little melodramatic here...)

In other news after this marathon bleeding session boy am I glad I'm a recent Diva Cup convert. I can't imagine how many tampons I would have gone though.

Update... still very hormonal and irritable. I will be going to the health food store to pick up some Vitamin B tomorrow and hopefully that will help my overall mood. Thank you all for the advice!

Persona?

I'm planning on getting a merina IUD after this pregnancy but I figured others on here might want to know about this, and I'm just curious.   It appears not to be available in the US from what I can tell, but, has anyone used this method, and if anyone has who has also used FAM which did you find had greater ease of use/success?

Edited to add:

I am asking about the persona not the Mirena IUD, I was just mentioning that because I am not personally planning on trying the persona after this pregnancy but I am curious about it's ease of use and I also thought that other folks in the VP community might want to be aware of it's existence.  If you click on the link above it goes to their site for anyone who is curious.

There was a community devoted to it on LJ, (I found a link to it in a 3 YO VP entry), but that community has been deleted...

Hi. I'm new to this community. :)

I recently picked up some boric acid powder to treat my BV along with the antibiotic I was given. To those who have used it to treat BV, do you have an opinion on whether it is more effective in douche or capsule form?

Thanks.

I went to the doctor 5 days ago for a UTI and got antibiotics.  I've been taking them perfectly as directed, but the burning sensation still has not gone away!  The urge to pee went away a day after starting the antibiotics but today it is now starting to come back, but is definitely not as bad as it originally was.  Does this mean the antibiotics are not working?? I still have a day and a half left to go but I thought the symptoms would have gone away by now.  I've had 3 UTIs in the past and they cleared up quickly, unlike this time.  However, with my previous UTIs I never experienced the burning sensation when I pee.

I was experiencing burning when I pee last month, but without the urge to go all the time, so I also went to the doctor and turned out that I had chlamydia, which I got treated for.  The symptoms cleared up in a couple days.  I've had sex once since but it was protected and with someone I'm almost 100% sure does not have any STDs.

So now I'm wondering could this painful urination be just the result of the UTI or could it be possible that the chlamydia actually didn't go away and I am experiencing symptoms again??
For those who have had UTIs, how long does the burning sensation usually take to go away??

Ok -
So this is weird. I unexpectedly got my period (it wasnt due for another 2 weeks, and Im never this early). I put on a pad, and went about my business. Then I checked the pad, a little bit later, and there was no more blood. That was 2 days ago, and still no more blood. So I was just bleeding for some strange reason, and it looked exactly like period blood. wtf wtf wtf??? did i have a miscarriage, or some weird infection? has this ever happened to anyone before? Do you think I need to make an appt w/ my gyno? Nothing else has happened - no weird smells, or discharge. Im really confused. Help, please! :)

EDITED TO ADD: I am NOT on bc. I know sometimes the pill can cause breakthrough bleeding, but is it normal when you're not on the pill? Thanks again!
