Okay I have two questions that are probably unrelated.
1)  I am on Yaz and it's day 4 of the placebo pill (there are only 4 days).  This means I will take the hormone pill tomorrow.  I have not started my period.  I am sometimes late on taking the pill - never more than like 4 hours and usually I take it within the hour of the time I am supposed to.  But since I haven't started bleeding like at all (some colored discharge, maybe, unless I was imagining it, but that was it) is it possible I could be pregnant?  And does taking the pill tomorrow affect the result of the pregnancy test?  And could it be that I started another medication (mirtazapine) this month?
2) I think I am getting a yeast infection.  Could this possibly affect it?  Also, is using one of those coated acidophillus pills (the kind that are supposed to withstand stomach acid..) up there going to do anything??  Or be harmful in some way?

Okay lots of questions I know - thanks for any answers though!

Hi Ladies,

I'm considering getting a VCH piercing (vertical clitoris hood). I was wondering if anyone here got one in Toronto, Ontario or in London Ontario and could tell me where, and if it was a good piercer. I want to have a jumping off point for my finding of a qualified and well practiced piercer for this location! I have gotten piercings before, in my tongue and nipple, but my cooch needs a bit more research!

Also, I've done a bunch of reading online at respected websites, but would like to know if anyone has any HORROR stories from getting a VCH. Right now the risks that I am aware of are infection (same as with any piercing), and tearing out during sex activities, or by bad moves while getting dressed etc.

Thanks!

Hey! This is my first post to this community.

I was shaving the other day and noticed that I'm forming a linea nigra. It extends from my navel to my pubis, and it gets darker the further down it goes.

The thing is, I'm not pregnant (to my knowledge.) Even if I were pregnant, I'm only 6 weeks LMP (I skipped my last period intentionally with birth control, in order to avoid conflicts with vacation). 6 weeks LMP is way too early to be developing a linea nigra, even if I were pregnant.

The linea nigra has developed within the last four weeks, so it's sort of sudden.

I know that a linea nigra is caused by a separation of ones ventral mesentery, but I haven't really done anything that would cause such a separation. I haven't had any recent drastic weight gain, so I'm fairly concerned about this.

Does anyone have any explanations for why this is happening? I'm irrationally terrified that I'm really like... 5 months pregnant, and the linea nigra is the only indicator I've gotten. My periods are typically very, very light, and I skip them a lot using HBC, for convenience, so I wouldn't notice a lack of period. I know in my head, that I'm only stressing myself out, and that I'm not pregnant, but I've never heard of a linea nigra occuring outside of pregnancy.

Eeeeh.

hi everyone!
i have a question involving getting your period with birth control pills. i started birth control pills two months ago to regulate my period, seeing it was really irregular. the first month, i was having trouble taking my pill at the same time everyday, so i started spotting about a week and a half before i was supposed to start my period, and continued to spot up until i got my actual period. it was a kind of brownish discharge, and if i remember correctly, my period started to look "normal," if you will, just a few hours after i took my first placebo pill of the pack (sunday night - i took my last active pill saturday evening).
i am on loestrin 24, with 24 active pills and 4 placebos. i know this is only my second month, but i feel like i should have started my period tonight (sunday), but maybe it was different last month with the spotting and everything. so, my question is this: i know everyone is different, but with a 24-active pill pack, when does everyone else start? i looked up some stuff online, and i have heard of people starting on the third or fourth day of the their placebos, but i don't know if this is for a 21 or 24 day pack. and also, does anyone run over into their next pack of active pills? i start a new pack on thursday, and that is when i ended my period last month. the only reason i'm really asking is because i'm going to visit one of my friends who lives a few hours away this weekend, and i want to plan accordingly with what supplies i need to bring. :)
thanks everyone!

Hey ladies and gents!
I have a slight dilemma. My friend has a photography show next year and he asked me to do some nude modeling for him. No big deal. The problem is, I'm on the patch for birth control. I doubt it'll be too visible in the pictures, but I don't want to risk ruining any shots. Do any of you have any suggestions of where I could possibly put it where it might be partially hidden? I'm kind of at a loss. Also, if it come to me having to take it off for a few hours, and then reapplying a fresh one after the shoot, that would require me using backup protection for seven days, correct?
Thanks so much.

I'm thinking of using Persona or Lady Comp as a birth control method.

Has anyone tried them?

Is there any study about them (other than in their own website)?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, so last week i thought it would be fun to make a thread for us to share first period stories since we all had one. I thought it would be equally fun to share first bra stories. So how bout it? What was your experience like?

As for me, i was ALWAYS behind my friends when it came to puberty. I remember in middle school on the first day of gym class. That was the first time i was really remember being self concious of my body. EVERYBODY was wearing at least a training bra... but little me. I didn't even have "buds" really but still begged my mom for something later that day anyways. As for "real" bras I finally hit a bit of a growth spurt when I was 16 (shortly after my first period too!) and grew to an *almost* A cup. I was sorta  (okay, REALLY) happy cuz everybody had boobs at that point. Even my little sister!  Nowadays i realize that breasts are not everything. After all, with small boobs you can go braless and jogging is nice, too! LOL But those five years in a training bra was a true tragedy for me. You know how it is when you are a teenager.

...and a potentially really stupid question.

What if, unknowingly, you left a sponge in for about a week?

I did the research online about Toxic Shock and I seemingly don't have any of the symptoms. Again, this is totally embarassing and I really have no idea how this happened. I don't remember NOT taking it out. And I know it may be silly to say this but honestly I am mortified of telling my gyno (I know, I know. That's what she is there for, but I just started going with her).

So could there be a chance that nothing adverse can happen to me? Am I some sort of statistical freak?
[identity profile] marie1944.livejournal.com

Hello everyone!

I'm a member here but I'm posting under this journal because I'm worried that my question will be seen as stupid and may end up being snarked. I'm sorry if using this journal annoys some people but it makes me feel safer.

As for the question:

I've been bleeding during sex and it's starting to worry me. It only happens when I'm on top (which is most of the time but anyway) and it's not related to lack of lubrication. Sometimes sex hurts in the right side of my pelvis, but I'm prone to cysts on my right ovary (that's where it hurts when my ovary gets uppity with me. It's weird because that's not where it's located, but that's how it feels). It doesn't matter if the sex is rough or gentle and I bleed whether I'm on my period or not. At the most it's been 4 tablespoons worth but it's usually 2-3 tablespoons (this is mixed with ejaculate so it could well be less than that - I can't tell).

I want to know what could be wrong and if I should go to a doctor. I don't have medical insurance so going to a doctor over nothing is an expense I can't afford at the moment. I don't know what my options are regarding this sort of thing as I used to have insurance as a student so I didn't have to worry. Any advice in this area would be helpful too.

Hey VPers!!!!
How are you guys doing today?

I went to Planned Parenthood 2 Fridays ago for my first ever pap smear.

Before I get started with my questions...I just have to say a few things about my experience.

I'm 19.
I've been sexually active with my boyfriend for about 9 months now so I wanted to get my pap done ASAP.
I was nervous about everything.
I had to fill out tons of papers and wait for a while.
BUt once the doctor came, she was asked me a few questions.
We had a decent conversation about random stuff.
She was REALLY nice.
She told me step by step what she was going to be doing and what she's checking for.
When I was getting the pap actually done, she was asking me if I was okay every so often.
I knew she wasn't rushing through the whole thing so I was pretty comfertable about it.
It didn't hurt.
Just felt a little pressure here and there.

She said she'll call me if I had an abnormal pap result.
She prescribed me some NuvaRings and I was good to go.

All in all I had a really great first visit to the gyno.
I loved my gyno.
She was awesome!!!!

QUESTIONS
How long does it usually take for the pap results to come back?
I haven't gotten a call from her regarding my pap smear so am I good?
Or should I call them just to make sure?

Thanks in advance!!!

bonjour.

I had cryotherapy done last Tuesday. It was totally fine and didn't hurt too much. However, I know the signs of infection are yellowish and smelly discharge... but my regular discharge is kinda like that anyway. That's why I'm not really sure if I have an infection or not. I have been having the watery discharge, as usual. I've been wearing a pad and just noticed a little yellow. And yeah, it smells, but then again so does my vagina in general most of the time. I'm not near my gyno, I could go the campus health services but I'm not really sure if they do that sort of thing.
So I suppose I'm just asking whether or not I should worry. I don't feel any different... anybody else had similar experiences?

thanks!

So I went to Planned Parenthood this morning for my first ever pelvic exam. It wasn't terrible, but it did hurt a little (likely my fault for being nervous ;P), and my doctor (nurse practitioner? I'm not sure which she was) was nice and explained everything as she went (though still seemed a little hurried). I won't lie and say I don't feel a bit violated, though, cuz I do, and so I spent until 2pm in bed after my appointment >.>

But! They didn't want to do a PAP on me, since I've only been sexually active for 3 weeks and not at least 3 years. Not what I was expecting but hey. I'm game. I'm not terribly concerned about my cervix anyhow since my boy and I are each other's firsts, and they knew that, which I think contributed.

But I come to you with other concerns!

I was diagnosed with a "very slight bit of BV" and so was sent home with medication. Aside from being very confused as to how to use the darned medication, I had another thought.

At the end of my appointment I made another for a Mirena IUD insertion this Friday (which was whoa, fast!). Now, as I was reading the informational packet they gave me, it said I, "cannot have the IUD inserted after recent vaginal infection." Yet...they had no problem scheduling me for one. The medicine's a five day application thing to be used before bed, so my last application would be Friday night, after the insertion. Is this really OK?

Also, my period is due to arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. Can I still use the medicine while bleeding?

More questions here, now about IUDs themselves )

So a listed version of my questions:

Question breakdown )

ALSO: This doesn't have to do with me, but I figured it'd be helpful to say.

If you live in California and think you can't afford women's health care, California does have a program that has the state pay for everything! PPs offer it, and so do some other women's health clinics. I got my pelvic and infection screening done for free, and will be getting the Mirena unit and insertion for free, too! You just have to meet certain qualifications (make under a certain amount per month).

If you're interested, ask me the name of it and I'll go fish my wallet of of my car and let you know! :D

Hey all you wonderful members,

So this is slightly weird and not vagina-related, but I hope it's not too off-topic as it still has to do with my sex life.

Basically, I'm looking for a fuzzy bra. Something soft and fun to touch. My boyfriend got this idea from my oh-so-soft fuzzy pajama bottoms that he loves to rub and has been obsessing over it ever since. He's visiting this weekend and I'd like to surprise him.

I found something perfect at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9959395 but unfortunately I'm afraid it would take too long to get here, as it's custom made. Does anyone know if stores like Victoria's Secret, Macy's, J C Penny, Belk, Sears, etc. make anything like this? I'd really like to hop over to the mall and pick something up. Or maybe there's something online that does rush orders?

Thanks a million!

Clean up

So, this thought popped into my head the other night after sex.

How do other couples clean up after sex?

I think my BF and I have the most unromantic or uninteresting way of cleaning up, but hey, it may be the same way other couples clean up, too!
It basically involves holding a wad of tissue under me and running to the bathroom. TMI TMI? :)

Anyone have any special ways?

I really don't want to make a big deal out of this and jump to conclusions just yet. I'm going to try and put as much information down as I can, so if it's difficult to read, please bear with me. I'd like to get this taken care of if it is a miscarriage, but it it's not, I'd like to know that it's not a big deal. I'd like to know how seriously I should take this when I go to the doctors office.

I was on HBC (Mononessa) from April 2007 until January 2008. I went off of it while my husband was gone because I was having trouble with mood swings, migraines, and my libido. I stopped taking it on January 8th, I started bleeding about four days after that. I went back on it again on Febuary 11th because my husband was going to come home for a week and I was worried I was going to have my period while he was here. I ended up only staying on it for two weeks, because I felt like it wouldn't help keep me from bleeding. When I was back on it, I bleed for a week, then when I went off of it again, I bleed for three days (not sure if this was a period or not).

My husband was home from March 5th until March 13th, and we had intercourse pretty reguarly (about twice a day). We didn't use any kind of protection and we both decided that we would be okay with it if I did end up getting pregnant. I know that periods can be irregular after you stop taking HBC and that it can be difficult to concieve also.

I track my cycle on mycycle.com and while I was on HBC, I was pretty regular. Before I was on HBC I was also regular until three or four months before I started taking it. According to my chart, I was supposed to ovulate around March 8th, while my husband was home. I didn't take it too seriously because I knew that I had been slightly irregular lately. My period was supposed to start on March 22nd. I was cramping off and on for the last couple of weeks. My breasts have been terribly sore (much more sore than they usually are). So with all of these symptoms, I'm waiting patiently for my period to come (sort of hoping it won't and sort of hoping it will). I get slightly nausated during the week of March 24th through to the end, but it's nothing too bad (I never vomited). I tood a pregnancy test around March 25th or 26th, and it came out negative. I decided to wait another week to take the second one, because it may have been too soon.

I started to bleed on March 29th, and it was sudden and heavy. I was sitting at the computer taking care of some business and severe cramps seemed to hit me out of nowhere, so I get up and go to the bathroom not thinking too much of it, because I had been cramping off and on this whole week. When I wipe though, I see that I'm bleeding, pretty heavily at that. There's also small clots that look a little different than the clots I usually have. So I put a tampon in and by that time, my cramps are really started to hurt, badly. I used to have very severe cramps when I was younger. When I went to college, they didnt' seem to bother me, and when I got home, they became severe again. The last several months, they haven't been bothering me either. These cramps had me in the fetal position in my bed. I couldn't even move. I was nauseated and my back felt sore. I took some pain medicine and it eventually eased up. The next day I had the same awful cramps and I felt even more nauseous. I took more pain medicine and it eased up a little more, but it didn't go away completely.

I woke up this morning and went to change my tampon because I slept too long with it in. When I took it out, however, I could tell I had stopped bleeding sometime during the night because the tampon was barely soaked. So I put another one in just in case, but I believed I had stopped bleeding. This afternoon I went to change it again and it was completely full. During the whole time, the bleeding has been pretty heavy and I've noticed small clots (not sure it if's the tissue you're supposed to see).

I did go online and look up symptoms of an early miscarriage and I believe that I could have those. I could also be jumping to conclusions and it could just be a normal (more severe) period. What do you guys think? I plan on making an appiontment with the doctor soon and I'd like to know if you ladies think it could really be a miscarriage. I've never been pregnant before, so I'm not really sure if it's just my period or not.

Jealousy

Mar. 31st, 2008 07:15 pm
[identity profile] winterfirestorm.livejournal.com
I've read through heaps of entries about porn/jealousy over models, actors and co but haven't really found what I was looking for.

Most people here are fine with their partners watching porn. Due to the circumstances I mentioned in my last post I am now ridiculously jealous, not just of porn but of pretty much any nudity in anything because I feel that my SO would rather I looked like them (particularly the parts of my body that aren't "normal") My question is to the people whose partners watch porn do you beleive that your partner sees you as more attractive than the people they're watching? Or just that they love you and that's enough even if they did prefer it if parts of you did look different? Do you think they can find someone more attractive/prefer it if you looked like that but still love you?
[identity profile] vicious-mongrel.livejournal.com
Ok Sorry if this has been posted already, but I just received this email and GOD DAMN its annoying. It was sent to me by a male friend (yeah that parts prob not important but I felt like adding it anyway). I dunno it just irking me and This was the best place I could think to share it and then share a rant.

PASS THIS ON EVEN IF YOU DO NOT USE IT

Pass it to women as well as men. Men please pass this to all the women you know.

Recently this past week, my cousin Nicole Dishuk (age 31...newly graduated student with a doctoral degree about to start her new career as a Doctor...) was flown into a nearby hospital, because she passed out.

They found a blood clot in her neck, and immediately took her by helicopter to the ER to operate. By the time they removed the right half of her skull to relieve the pressure on her brain; the clot had spread to her brain causing severe damage.

Since last Wednesday night, she was battling... they induced her into a coma to stop the blood flow, they operated 3 times... Finally, they said there was nothing left that they could do... they found multiple clots in the left side of her brain... the swelling wouldn't stop, and she was on life support...

She died at 4:30 yesterday. She leaves behind a husband, a 2yr old Brandon and a 4yr old Justin... The CAUSE of DEATH - they found was a birth control she was taking that allows you to only have your period 3 times a year... They said it interrupts life's menstrual cycle, and although it is FDA approved... shouldn't be - So to the women in my address book - I ask you to boycott this product & deal with your period once a month - so you can live the rest of the months that your life has in store for you.

*Please send this to every woman you know - you may save someone's life... Remember, you have a CYCLE for a reason!

The name of this new birth control pill is LYBREL.  If you go to Lybrel.com http://lybrel.com/, you will find at least 26 pages of information regarding this drug.

The second birth control pill is, SEASONIQUE.  If you go to the website of, Seasonique.com http://seasonique.com/, you will find 43 pages of information regarding this drug.

The warnings and side effects regarding both pills are horrible.  Please, please forward this information to as many daughters AND sons, co-workers, friends and relatives. Several lives have already been changed.

Hello, all. I'm having a problem I was hoping you could help me with.

For the past 12 years, I've had rather long, heavy, painful periods. They usually last 8 days, with the heaviest flow and worst cramping on the 3rd or 4th day. Anyway, I recently went to the gynecologist and he prescribed Yaz to help with my cycle. He said that going by my symptoms, it's likely that I have endometriosis. However, I decided to try the pill before resorting to surgery or Lupron. I've been on Yaz for 9 days.

I've had my period for 10 days now, and it just seems to be getting heavier each day. I'm on my 6th straight day of moderate/severe cramps and ovarian pain. I use a menstrual cup, and I had to resort to tampons alternating with pads today because my vagina is so sore from having the cup in there for the majority of 10 days. The blood is also a very different consistency than normal....it's very mucousy. Frankly, I'm exhausted, and I'm not sure how much longer I can stand these cramps. They're really wearing me out.

Should I be worried? Is this something fairly common, or am I having a bad reaction to the pills? Any input is appreciated.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Love you guys!!!

But now I have a question of my own. Here's the story:

So I have an acne issue. I take amoxicillin for my acne and I have recently learned that it can effect your birthcontrol. Now, I have been sexually active for a few years, and I'm pretty sure I had been taking my amoxicillin while I was having sex with my ex boyfriend (no condoms) with no problems. But I was wondering how much this particular antibiotic would affect my birth control? I'm on a generic form of ortho tri cyclen and I take 150 miligrams of amoxicillin a day.

On to my next question... if my antibiotics do affect my birthcontrol enough, should I consider using an IUD? But I don't want to stop taking my ortho tri cyclen. It also helps with my skin and I had pretty wicked periods before I was put on it. Heavy cramping, bleeding, etc etc.

So

How much exactly do antibiotics affect your period?
and
Would it be dumb/safe/whatever to use an IUD while on regular birth control? Has anyone ever done this before?
Would having an IUD even be a good idea with someone with a history of heavy bleeding/cramping/horrible periods?

Thanks for your input guys! Er, gals!

this was sort of addressed in the memories but i need some personal feedback.  so i've noticed my vaginas smell has changed....like its stronger and im realizing it used to smell this way years ago.  i had sex the other night we definately used a condom and the smell isnt nessecarily unpleasant just stronger than im used to.  i came across a post in the memories on fast food and smell and we did eat taco bell (i havent eaten fast food in years....i'm a vegetarian btw)  but i definately remember smelling this way before i became a vegetarian.  i guess i just need advice/reassurance......because i dont have medical insurance so i cant really see a doc since theyre way out of my budget :(

it's been a LONG time since I've posted here...
My fiance and I have been... not quite TTC, but if it happened, we'd be super thrilled. He has fertility issues that we're going to be working on after our wedding in September, but for now, we're still having unprotected sex.
I chart my cycles, and was due to ovulate the 28th, and felt a sharp pinch on my left side on the 29th. I can usually feel my ovulation, but it's drawn out and crampy over a few hours, and Saturday (the 29th) it was not.
This didn't bother me, but tonight I noticed my breasts were VERY sore (like my period was due) and feel very full.
I didn't keep track of the moon this month, but my 3 year old son was conceived during my period.
Obviously, it's too early to test, based on my last menstrual period, but if I conceived then, it wouldn't be too early.

I guess what I'm asking is, could it have been implantation I felt instead of ovulation? Is it too coincidental that I felt it the day after I was due to ovulate?

Thank you for reading my rambling entry.

Hey there fellow cunt-lovers!

Just a question...have any of you ladies out there tried viagara? I've had a girlfriend who said she and her man took it together and she really enjoyed it.  Just wondering what other people's experience of it has been.  I'm considering my options for fighting anorgasmia (inability or extreme difficulty achieving orgasm due to medication).

TIA,

So today while having sex, I started bleeding, which freaked me and the other person out a LOT since my period isn't due for another week and a half.

I have the Paragard IUD, and we weren't particularly rough or anything. I came off hormonal birth control in October, and I realize that my body is adjusting to hormones and my periods may be wonky, but it only bled then and a little bit before and after (I know before b/c I found a spot in my panties).

So, I'm just curious as to what would cause this.

Thanks i advance!

So, about two weeks ago, my dermatologist put me on Adoxa to clear up some bad break-ups I have and he said that would counter-act my birth control. I'm on my second month of Tri-Sprintec and I've just started the last week of white pills. Should I still get my period during this week or will the Adoxa screw that up? Also, my OBGYN gave me two months of OrthoLo... is it dangerous to be switching back and forth between birth controls?

I'm also nervous I'm not going to get my period at all... about two weeks ago, I had sex with two guys (at different times)... The first guy never came (he WAS wearing a condom) and the second guy did come and was wearing a condom... and I wasn't on the Adoxa yet either, so my BC should've been working fine.

Am I just freaking out for nothing?
