I am wondering if things that seem normal to me, are actually not quite so normal.

My 24 year old male friend told me he feels uncomfortable kissing his partner after he ejaculates in her mouth, has never done it, and would make her brush her teeth first. I recall a past partner of mine refusing to kiss me after going down on me, calling me naughty when I said I didn't care. I feel no reservations with this in the slightest.

The same male friend told me he has never had sex outside, complaining of lack of adventurous partners. This baffles me. I questioned a girl friend, who is extremely sexually experienced, who told me she has had sex outside twice only and that it doesn't surprise her that most people haven't done it at all. A large portion of my sexual experiences have been outside.

I knew I was open... but now I am wondering if I am on the extreme of openness? Will you kiss after oral? Will your partner? Will you have sex outside?

I have an idea for a zine that I would like to put out.
The concept of which would be all kinds of females talking about their favorite imperfection.
I used to have major issues with getting naked because of my "irregular" labia. A thought that branched out because of all the misguided notions that the vagina is a run of the mill generic image (you've seen one you've seen 'em all) kind of deal.
But I later realized that mine is fucking awesome because it's MINE.
So I would like to know what your favorite body "imperfection" is. And whether or not you consent to have it (possibly) published.

Hello all.

I'm a little over fifteen weeks pregnant (So, about four and a half months). I'm not showing a lot yet, but you can tell that my abdomen is taking somewhat of a more "roundish" shape. This is kind of a weird question, but...When I lay on my back and prod around where my uterus should be by now, I don't feel anything firm (You know, like a pregnant belly, it's firm?). I'm sure this is somewhat normal - I had both a doctor checkup and ultrasound this last week and the doc seemed to find it just fine. I'm assuming the issue is because the fetus is still too small, and all the amniotic fluid provides cushion, so it feels soft when I prod at it. When should things start to "harden" up?

Thanks in advance! :)

Woe.

Since I've been sexually active, I've experienced frequent yeast infection-like symptoms. The first time was, I believe, from fooling around, getting aroused and then sleeping in my wet panties. I got a full-blown yeast infection from that which I treated with Canesten.

Then there was about a year's break where I wasn't sexually active. In the last few months, I've begun having sex with my current boyfriend.

Even when I never put my wet panties back on after sex, there has still been a few instances of itchy vulva (actually, mostly just the mound) and once, a slight yeasty smell. I found this all-natural-dissolve-under-your-tongue stuff in a heath store that seems to do the trick in clearing it up.

After sex I go to the washroom, pee, wipe, and wipe away all the condom lube that gets smeared around on my inner thighs. Then I usually lie naked in bed for a while.

Why is this happening? I've been having regular (once/twice a week) sex for about a month and a half. Why is this happening so frequently? Is there any way to prevent this? Or is this perhaps an allergy and not a yeast infection? My mound is itchy and red, but I'm not itchy anywhere else on my vulva or in my vagina.

I hate dealing with this. Please help, ladies!

Thanks.

Hey all,

I last had sex on Feb 22nd. I got my period on Feb 29th (Friday) and it was my normal four day heavy-ish period. I never use condoms, but I take Loestrin 24fe at 11:30pm everyday and I haven't missed one in two years. I get my periods on Fridays like clockwork at the same time around 4:30pm, but yesterday...I got spotting. I'm really hoping it is because I took Motrin for a migraine I had around 2pm, which turned off the cramps and normal period I probably would have had...right? Is there a small chance that I'm pregnant, or am I just being paranoid?

So, I recently bought the Braun Silk-Epil Epilator, and I thought I would just go at it because I have a relatively high pain tolerance. Apparently, I do not. The only place it doesn't hurt too bad is my shins...But the back of my calves, upper thigh, back of my thigh, ankles...MAN. Makes me want to cry. We won't even get into the bikini area...I was pretty disappointed with myself for being such a wimp because I HATE SHAVING MORE THAN ANYTHING. And I pretty much shave every day, including that whole area. Shaving every day is irritating (meaning both annoying and red-bumpy-skin irritating.) and I really REALLY wanted to use the epilator to either cut down on how often I need to shave or eventually cut out shaving all together.

So, following advice I saw in a comment either here or in sex_tips about someone using Orajel when waxing, I went out and bought a bottle of generic Orajel in the liquid form. I believe there is liquid, gel and paste. The bottle was on sale at Meijer (which is like K-Mart/Walmart but TOTALLY BETTER and is mostly in Michigan and Ohio) for like two or three bucks, real Orajel is between five and seven depending on what type you get.

I started out just using a little bit on my bikini area/a little further in and I won't say that it is painless, but there is definitely LESS PAIN. It takes it from a sharp, intense I-can-feel-it-pulling-from-the-root pain to a dull and tolerable pain. I was so excited!! I spent two-three hours last night (Yes, I'm a 20 year old female epilating her legs on a Friday night) putting Orajel everywhere and ripping out all of my hair. It was amazing! I just wanted to share this idea with everyone here who is too scared of the pain to try epilating and didn't see that comment.

The only bad thing...It smells vaguely like coconut and gets obnoxious after awhile...But it makes your tongue feel cool.

So, about a week ago, I felt like I was getting a  yeast infection. I felt itchy on the inside, but also on my labia, mostly around my clit. I sometimes get yeast infections confused with BV, so I went and saw a gyno about five days ago. She did an exam and found a little bit of yeast. She gave me some Diflucan just to be sure. I felt better, but I still felt itchy around my clit. I thought maybe it would go away a few days after I took the Diflucan, but it's still here. Is it possible that I still have a yeast infection on the outside of my vagina, but not the inside?

So I decided to skip my period this week as BF was coming. I got sick on Wednesday and threw up the pill, and then just decided not to skip my period as I was sick etc etc. I take my last pill on Sunday and then start on a new pack on Mondays, anyway. Since I had to stop the skipping (?) I'll now have to take the last pill on monday and then start a new pack on thuesday. Could I open a new pack now on monday and still be protected or should I continue with the placebos for the week?

OK, so. My boy (24) and I (20) are both pretty new at sex. As in, we've only done it four times, including last night, and most of those times we did it in missionary position. Well last night, we decided to try girl on top, and him entering hurt in that position. Sex hasn't hurt before, even during my first time, so I was a little taken aback. Once he was in it was fine and actually a bit enjoyable, but I'm sore today in the same spot that it hurt the most while entering.

I guess I'm just wondering if it hurts for anyone else in that position. We used lube (though maybe not enough? Last night was the first time we tried lube since I don't usually seem to need it, so I guess it's possible, though I'm skeptical), my hymen was looong gone at that point, and I went slow. The only other thing I could think of was that I had gone on a ten mile bike ride the day before on a very uncomfortable bike seat, so maybe things were already hurt down there and the addition of a penis didn't help, but I wouldn't think the inside would hurt if that was the case.

So does anyone have any advice on how not to make this hurt? I wanna do it again, but...ow. Also. Rocking in the way that was best for me (pleasure wise) didn't seem to be enough stimulation to keep him hard. Any movement tips?

My other question is that I have my first GYN appointment on Monday, and I think I remember reading somewhere that you're not supposed to have sex within 24 hours of the appointment. Is that true? I might've just made something up about that so I wanted to be sure :)

I saw this on my friend's myspace, and thought I'd share... Doesn't have to do with vaginas per se, but promotes a body positive message nonetheless:

I remember hearing that birth control can help fix the excessive hair on a females body. Is that true? If so is there a certain brand or is it any?

On Wednesday I slept with a friend of mine...or at least attempted to. I haven't had sex with anyone in two years and I was way too tight - it was like I was a virgin again. He couldn't get inside of me, even though we tried missionary and doggy style.

I was plenty aroused - he had gone down on me for a while and there had been lots of foreplay. I probably could have been wetter, but I have never had to use lube before and didn't have any around.

What happened? Have I tightened up because I haven't had sex in so long? What do I need to get loose again? I am not sure I am going to sleep with the same guy again - this was a one night stand kind of thing - but I am really embarassed and worried about this happening again in the future.

(I was a member of this community a long time ago, with an entirely different journal, so I have read the rules at some point, but when I tried to before joining just now, the library decided they were porn and wouldn't let me read the page. I'd be delighted to have them, though, if someone wants to.)

Anyway, that said, I'm asking a question for my friend, who doesn't have any internet access at all. She's almost 22, trying to get pregnant with her long-term boyfriend. She recently tried using a cushion to aid her in her goal of becoming a mother, and not long after has begun to experience... weird discharge. She says it's completely clear, has no specific smell, and doesn't cause her any physical pain, but makes her feel like she has to go to the bathroom constantly. She didn't mention an itch or what the consistency of the discharge is. Edit: Her last period was about two weeks ago, they've been arriving fairly regularly for the last six months, at least. They're never more than a week or two off target. The question is basically whether or not this discharge is an indicator of ill health, or of her finally achieving pregnancy (they've been trying for about 9 months now, I believe), or something else that she should have checked. (Additionally, I've been telling her that if she's trying to get pregnant, she should start taking prenatals now so that they're in her system fully by the time she becomes pregnant. That is what a friend of mine has told me when she and her husband were trying to have a baby. Was this advice correct?)

Thanks to all who may reply, for your time and knowledge.

I've been off of birthcontrol since January. I have had two very short cycles (20 days). I'm waiting for my period to start (I'm on day 22) but all I have is brown spotting. Is this a normal side effect of coming off of the pill, something that normally can happen before a period starts or a sign of low progesterone levels?

Hi Everyone,

So, I've been meaning to be a review post for ever. I wanted to do pictures and stuff, but its not looking like that's gonna happen.

I've bought a bunch of new stuff lately!

1) Smartballs
Smartballs are a vaginal exerciser type item. What I didn't realize until they arrived is that they are huge. I read one review that called them "ping pong ball sized" and thought maybe the reviewer was exaggerating. But she wasn't. They are four inches from end to end, not including the string.

Quite frankly, they are too big for me. I have a pretty short vagina (my diva cup barely fits) and they poke out at the opening. I do wear them once in awhile though, and I enjoy the rattling feeling that they provide. It feels exactly what you think it would feel like if you had a ball inside of another ball, and its a strangely nice feeling. It doesn't do anything close to give me an orgasm, but it feels nice.

2) Firefly lube
Firefly is an all natural and organic lube that is safe to use with basically anything (condoms, silicone, etc.) It is glycerin free. It is expensive, at $18 for four ounces. When I opened it up, it wasn't what I expected. It doesn't have a super slippery feel to it - on the website they say that it lubricates without dulling sensation, and that's exactly true. It DOES make things more slippery, but it doesn't have that super slick feeling that some lubes do. Actually, it almost feels oily, like when you have olive oil on your fingers. At first I didn't like the non-slickness, but I've come to think that its a bit more natural feeling. Its smell and taste are very neutral, which is good. It doesn't dry up and feel sticky - it feels like it gets "spread out" and therefore isn't enough to lube after awhile, but it doesn't feel bad like some lubes. It sort of feels like lotion on your skin. I haven't really tested their claim that it is waterproof.

3) On the inside
I just bought a cami/underwear set from Ontheinside, an etsy shop. They arrived today in a custom color, and are BEAUTIFUL. I felt so sexy when I put them on - they fit well and were super comfortable. I'm just thrilled, I couldn't be any happier. I can't show my boyfriend because they are my wedding unders so I want them to be a surprise...so I thought I'd rave to you all! If you need fancy and comfy lingerie, check out ontheinside!!

Hey ya'll,
I'm writing a paper on the role separation plays in different menstrual traditions (such as women going to menstrual hunts in certain african tribes come that time of the month or the jewish orthodox practice of niddah) and whether separation can be seen as empowering or whether it is necessarily oppressive. So i'm wondering, how many of you would love to be able to go into seclusion come that time of the month (be it left alone or with other menstruating women) and how many of you would hate to be in seclusion and want to be able to perform your normal everyday  tasks when you are menstruating? A simple yay seclusion nay seclusion is fine, but if you all want to elaborate on why you see it as oppressive or empowering (or both or neither) that would be awesome, especially if you could also give me permission to include your responses in my paper (if not, i would still love to hear ya'll elaborate a little bit on it). And any other thoughts on seclusion and separation as part of menstrual traditions are also welcome.
THANKS!

Alright, so, when I urinate, it burns a little... I've never had a UTI and there is no way I have an STI. The thing is, although it's hard to localize, I feel the stinging sensation from my anus... has anyone ever experienced this? Is there anything I can eat/take/do to make its mild-but-annoying presence disappear? Should I be concerned or go to my college's clinic? Thanks for any advice!!!
