Hi guys,

I have Implanon since April 2nd. About 2 months ago, I started getting some acne. I've never had really clear skin, but in adulthood it had started to clear up, so that was exciting! But then maybe 6 weeks into Implanon I started getting acne again! Blah!

It's not so bad, at first I had a couple of big lumps but now those are gone and it's mostly just whiteheads and blackheads, just little bumps all over. At first I thought it was a rash due to something I was eating but the doctor confirmed it was just acne.

So my question is - has anybody had acne that you think is related to your HBC? Did you find a treatment that was successful, or was it resistant to treatment (maybe b/c it's hormone-related)?

my treatment(s) )

I just finished my period on Friday and I was starting my new pack of pills. I am a Sunday starter and I took my first pill yesterday (Saturday) by accident. What do I do now? I take Apri and it's a monophasic pill. I read the booklet and it just talks about missing pills, but what happens if you start you new pack a day early by accident? I'm freaking out because I have never missed a pill or taken a pill early before and I have no idea what to do. Please help me :)

Hello superstars!

The following is a friendly reminder about rules, resources, and stuff brought to you by my predilection toward procrastination on the weekend (I hate vaccuuming!).

First up: the basics. You can read the FAQ about the community here, and can read the rules themselves here. If you've never read the rules, we would encourage you to take a second to do that now. Go ahead, I'll wait for you (I've got some macadamia nuts to snack on while you're busy reading up). You'll note the emphasis on safe space and empowerment. These are a couple of the things that make VP different from other places on the web, and we hope you familiarize yourself with them and help spread the VP revolution.

Now that you're back from reading up on the rules, we'll show off our stuff! We maintain a directory-of-sorts for member recommendations for health care providers. It's over here, and also linked from our super-helpful sidebar. It's a great resource, and if you've got a moment and a great OB-GYN/midwife/clinician to refer people to, go comment! We also have an ever-expanding Vulvapedia, with entries on such topics as menstrual products, safer sex, and HPV. We also have the Top Five FAQs, on hormonal birth control, emergency contraception, pubic hair care, urinary tract infections and yeast infections. Posts on these Top Five FAQs are subject to deletion, because often the questions asked are directly answered in the Vulvapedia. If we delete your post, it doesn't mean your question was silly, stupid, or that we hate you -- VP is just a really busy place, and we like to keep room on the main page open for other questions and concerns. The VP forums may be an alternative for those questions (and is just a good place to visit).

And lastly, the VP Team is here to help you make this community fabulous. We're a volunteer group of 11, and we share an addiction to the internet and a love of all things VP. If you would like to get to know the maintainer team, check us out here, and via our individual biographies. You can introduce yourself here, and put yourself on the map, too! You're also welcome to get in touch with us anytime, via email or [livejournal.com profile] contact_vp. We try to be friendly sorts!

Thanks for reading, and see you 'round the community!

I scoured the vulvapedia yeast infection entry, and I saw that tea tree oil and otc treatments are all good for treating itch, but i was wondering if anyone had any quick, simple treatments that wouldn't really interfere with sex.

I'm just coming off my period and my vulva is up in arms at me. I think I left my diva cup in for too long or something, but it's just really itchy. I don't think it's a YI, because I've had those before, just some icky old irritation.

I've been using otc creams, and they work, but tomorrow is one of the rare times I get to see my LDR boyfriend, so I'd like to not taste like monistat anti-itch cream if at all possible.

Any ideas?

Okay, so I'm more curious than worried about this particular issue I've been having.
Sometimes, I feel like I have been peeing a LOT.
Othertimes, it feels like I have to go the regular ammount I've always had to go.
For a little while, I had some vaginal itching going on.
I haven't had that issue in a while, and I'm still very unsure if that was related to my peeing.
I'm aware of the various symptoms of YIs and UTIs, as I have read up on both in here as well as on Google. I don't think I have either, but what do I know? I've never had one before, I'm not experienced with them in my body.

At any rate, my urine is ALWAYS very clear. Never cloudy or anything gross.
It's usually rather clear, actually. Hints of yellow. Sometimes it's darker, but it's NEVER been very dark. I believe that's a good sign, as yellower urine may mean you don't drink enough water. And I live off of water.
My discharge has been normal. It doesn't smell, and it's always clear. I get a lot of discharge at times, but that is normal for me. I have noticed a....stronger scent on three seperate occasions. It was never BAD, just stronger. It has never been chunky or anything like that.
I get an occasional feeling of discomfort in there AFTER peeing...this only occurs the first time I pee after showering, so I think it might have something to do with soap getting in that area. I wouldn't really call it a burning sensation...the easiest way to describe this feeling is to describe the way it feels when you really, really have to pee...and it gets uncomfortable in there? I feel that way every now and then after showering.

Anyway, I'm just curious as to what may be the cause of this. Everything seems normal to me except for the ammount I pee (sometimes) and that occasional feeling of discomfort. What are the possible explanations for those?

One more thing, on a sepperate topic:
I just want some reassurrance here. I think I already know the answer, but I have a tendancy to get paranoid and freak out. (I think the seemingly frequent urination is contributing to this)
Every now and then, my boyfriend and I will have the condom slip off during sex.
Because we know this happens, we constantly check to be sure the condom is still there.
He never cums without being sure the condom is still in place.
If the condom has slipped off, we always get a new condom before continuing. If we don't have a new condom, we stop.
This has happened to us before, and I've never gotten pregnant.
However, I still get paranoid. Probably because I'm not on birth control. (Yet)
I haven't missed my period, so there's actually no REAL reason to worry about pregnancy, but as I've stated, I'm paranoid. :-)
I should actually be expecing my period any time within the next two weeks. (I'm a teenager, and therefore my body isn't always reliable...so I give myself a broad time-range, KNOWING that every now and then my period moves itself back a few days to a week)
I know pregnancy is POSSIBLE, what with the condom slipping off like that, but not all that likely.
I'm mostly looking for reassurance that I'm most likely good to go. Indulge me? (Honestly, please)
Thank you!

I'm new to the community, and I don't know if this entry meets the criteria, and I'm sorry if it doesn't...but, I have a question. During foreplay, I usually have an orgasm. (Clitoral stimulation is just a thing for me.) The problem is that after that, I lose most interest in the act to come. Is this weird? Tips? Comments?

So I just spent way more time than I had perusing through the info in this community for one simple reason: smelly, cottage cheese discharge.

Thank god I did. It seems that BV is common and describes the symptoms I have. This is my only symptom though. I have sex without pain, no itching, no burning, no problems peeing. Just the smelly (fishy) chunky discharge.

This has been going on for months and occasionally it will seem to get better. I changed some thing in my diet, increased my water intake, upped my exercise.

Today during sex (in the shower AFTER I had washed), there again was the discharge. It makes me self-conscious and withdrawn. My boyfriend, to be honest, doesn't even notice or at least, hasn't said anything.

So, tomorrow I will schedule a gyno appointment. I was just wanting to see what, if anything, can be done to prevent this or if there were any natural remedies so that should it happen again, I won't have to go to the doctor each time?

Thanks, vulva lovers!

Quick question, if I want to get off of my birth control pills (Levlen) and switch to condoms, how long do I wait after having sex condomless the last time, and stopping my pills?  I know sperm lives for a certain period of time in the vagina, how long is the safest to wait to stop taking my pills?  They've been driving me absolutely bonkers.  I'm talking manic anxiety stuff.  Crying for a long time and getting upset about stupid things like my boyfriend not having sex with me at the time that I wanted it.  I mean, normally that might be a little annoying, but I don't think it's something people normally flip out about like I did...  I just feel out of control of things on these pills.  So I had sex the last time condomless tonight, and the next time we'll use a condom.  I will also call the clinic tomorrow to see if I can talk to a clinician, I just wanted to get some other girl's input too.  I want to get off of them ASAP!
(I will be getting a copper IUD soon, but I have to go in for a biopsy first)
P.S. I've been on lots and lots of different types of hormones, and I seem to always have a bad reaction...that's why finally resorting to a copper IUD :-)
