thanks to everyone who responded to my post earlier about my friend not being able to switch to a new planned parenthood to get her BC...i am going to forward her the entry asap and let her see your suggestions.

so here is my new question...

donating a toy to a good cause (read: to embarass newlyweds)...but a friend and i have been trying to figure out how to sterilize it and we're not really sure!

it's this model: bunny pearl by top cat

it says its made of medical grade silicone...which is all fine and dandy...but i just need to know how to sterlize it before it gets used for a prank.

any suggestions on how to make sure it's squeaky clean? she did use dish soap and clorox disinfectant wipes on it, since she has used it before. should she do anything else?

thanks girls.

**EDITED** sorry to anyone who gets offended by people sharing toys....but seriously, it is more for a joke. i probably should have clarified...we just want to leave the honeymooners a welcome home "surprise" on their bed when they walk in the door...it's a JOKE, and we are all friends. they are both really vanilla, and freaked out by sex toys, and are NOT..let me repeat NOT going to actually use it. i'm positive the most they will even do with it is turn it on, get embarassed and laugh, wonder how certian parts of it could possibly feel good, laugh some more, and give it back...i am going to give them a disclaimer after we see the shocked looks on their faces. i just want to make sure it is safe and clean before they handle it...since they know so little about sex toys we thought about joking around and telling them we were all going to "donate" toys to them. as a running practical joke.

Oww.. so I woke up and realized I have gotten a UTI. I have to work in a couple of hours so I can't go to the doctor today, so I'm going to pick up AZO or Uristat on my way in.. Will it really stain my contact lenses? Some websites say yes, while others say only if I handle the pills before putting my contacts in, which I wouldn't be doing. Does anyone have personal experience? I don't want to end up with orange contacts, but I also don't like wearing glasses to work.

I was on Yasmin for about 5 years or so and went off of it about a month and a half ago because my husband and I decided that it's baby making time(I should have written it down when I took my last pill but didn't so I don't have the exact stop date).
Anyway, I started having cramps, feeling grumpy and bloated last week so I prepared for ol' Aunt Flo. But there has been nothing. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. Now my PMS symptoms have subsided except for a stray cramp here (about 1-2 per day).
Why would I be having PMS symptoms but no period?
Thanks in advance, gals!

i have kind of a simple/stupid question...been with my current bf for almost a year and have recently become sexually active...i just started taking BC, but we still use condoms because im super paranoid...anyways there have been a couple times when i thought it broke, but i wasn't sure...and i felt stupid asking him...is there a way to tell if the condom broke, like does it feel more wet or something or is best just to have him check it when he takes it off?

thanks in advance!

I have all the symptoms of a UTI but I went to the doctor yesterday and she said nothing came up in my urine, to drink a lot of water and cranberry juice, and to come back on Friday if I still had symptoms. Now I'm freaking out because I think I may be confusing it with something more serious.

According to wikipedia (I know, the source of sources), UTIs are commonly confused with chlamydia and gonorrhea. The guy I'm dating and I aren't official and we've never had a monogamy talk, but I always assumed that I was less monogamous than he was (and I haven't fooled around with anyone else in over a month). We've only had sex without a condom once and that was 2-3 weeks ago (because we'd already broken a condom, freaked out, and immediately bought Plan B), but we have had plenty of unprotected oral.

Another symptom of gonorrhea is an inflamed cervix and I had that kind of pain last time we had sex (on Saturday, which was also around the same time that my UTI symptoms slowly began appearing).

Is this something I should be legitimately concerned about? I have rational explanations for both the UTI and the bruised cervix separately but I'm starting to get really freaked out about this.

so i got this new boyfriend, and he's super cute, funny, smart, friendly, etc. so that's all well and good. but the issue is, he's way less talkative than other boys. i on the other hand, am completely outspoken EXCEPT when it comes to certain touchy topics. when it comes to the subject of sex, i am pretty reticent (but, inconveniently, only when i am talking to the person i'm actually doing things with). this brings me to the root of my problem:

how exactly do i talk about what i want (when i'm desperately not getting it) with a boy who's not inclined to blather about what he's been doing to me in bed? i'm pretty sure he wants to squeeze me tease me please me and all of that, but he's not quite pushing my buttons the right way. for the record, we aren't having sex yet, just fooling around. anyone have any tips on how to give polite direction and make requests and generally discuss sex with a quiet boy? he is totally into rubbing my g spot really hard, which feels nice but doesn't cut it alone. (and then i end up feeling a little sore from his enthusiasm.) what is usually comes down to is him trying for a while, but not quite doing what i like, so i gently push him away and leave it at that -- so bad, i know! i need to go after what i want. help!

(and as an nonvaginal aside, are there any tricks of the trade for performing oral sex on an uncircumsised dude? like, what should i or should i not do with a foreskin?)

Hi ladies!

My mom has been bleeding for two months now. Her primary doctor told her it could be because she's premenopausal (she's 49), but that was about a month ago. Around this time last year, she missed three months of having her period, but then started bleeding heavily without very long breaks in July (probably due to stress -- my dad was going through chemo and he died in early August). She called her doctor's office today, but the gyno was out, so she'll have to wait until tomorrow. She ate spinach this morning, and I'm going to get her an iron supplement in a bit...

Is there ANYTHING that she can do (or any natural supplements she could take) to lessen the bleeding until she sees her gyno? Last night she was bleeding like crazy and hardly got any sleep because of it.

thank you!

Has anyone here ever gotten their hymen surgically removed (e.g. a hymenectomy or a hymenotomy)? I am scheduling mine soon because I have vaginismus. It isn't imperforate or anything, but my OBGYN was doing an exam and she said she could definitely tell that it was causing me pain. She said that if she were in my position, she would get it removed.

I want to get it done because I want to enjoy intercourse with my boyfriend of a year and a half. (I'm still a virgin.)

Has anyone ever experienced this?

I fear I may have made a fairly dumb mistake and need to double check that I didn't seriously mess anything up...

I'm currently on tour across America with my band, we started in New York and we've reached the end of the first half, in Washington state. I had my period when we left and started a new pack on the road. I take my pill at 10 PM in New York.

I was a moron and calculated it backwards, and took the first pill of my new pack at 11 pm in Minneapolis, aka MIDNIGHT in New York. I haven't missed a pill or even been late, but I did start my new pack 2 hours later than I would have had I known.

My SO and I use the pill as our only form of contraception and we had sex the next morning. That night I found out about my mistake and immediately recalculated the schedule so I could keep it at 12 AM EST. (AKA, I'm going to take my pill in 5 minutes because I'm in Washington state. 9 pm here = 12 AM in NY)

Now, I got this bit of information from the VP FAQ:

For those taking combined oral contraceptives, perhaps the best method to change pill time is to wait until after the placebo week and the beginning of a new pack. If you plan to take your pill earlier, you can still do this on your normal day; however, if you plan to take your pill at a later time, we recommend doing so one day earlier so that you don't extend your hormone-free week beyond 7 days.

Now-- my question is, did 2 hours mess anything up beyond recognition? I still had my period when I had sex, and my pills have all been perfectly on time- just a different time.

ok...so i looked through the memories and found only what i had found on my own quick research...i just want someone to tell me im not crazy.
i could have sworn that in the past year..at the most... i read in the newspaper as well as hearing about it on radio talk shows..that the average age u.s. kids lose their virginity now is 12..
im having a debate about it with my husband..because all we can find is articles with no links to studies or surveys saying its around 16...
I KNOW I READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT WAS 12..
but i guess maybe its not...
anyone have any links that show like legit numbers...or at least have heard this number too?
thanks!

I'm on otc-lo and skipped this month's period. i have 2 and a half weeks to go and so far it has been going well, i used the 14 pills to each level method and tonight i started spotting. i have graduation on saturday and am FREAKING out. i just cant have my period for this and for the next two weeks.
my boyfriend also just fingered me a couple hours ago. could i just be spotting from that and its possible it will go away? or is there any method that can stop my period from becomming full blown?
right now i only see blood when i wipe. is this considered just spotting?

So I've always wondered what other menstruating women do to avoid getting blood on their sheets/mattresses when they're sleeping. Personally, I'm a pad kind of girl, but man do they do an awful job when I'm sleeping! Ruined pj bottoms and suspiciously spotted sheets have taught me to sleep on a towel when I have or am expecting my period... but that's still a pain because a) I'm a picky sleeper and the towel is sometimes uncomfortable and b) I still end up with blood stains, just on my towels. I guess I should just invest in a really dark towel...

I'm mostly just curious what other women do - some of the girls here must have clever ways of dealing with this. :) Do you just sleep with a tampon in, or a menstrual cup? Hmmm.

Is there any sort of over the counter treatment for UTIs (not the symptoms, but the actual infection)? I'm in the process of switching health insurance, so I'm currently uninsured, and hate to have to pay for the office visit when I already know what the problem is.

Thanks!
