utopiaforeign.livejournal.comHi Everyone. I am new!
I posted this entry today in another community, and was referred over here;
I have recently turned 24, and since I went off of birth control 4 years ago, I've had problems with excruciating cramps. I also have a history of ovarian cysts. I have seen a naturopath in the past, and was told to take magnesium to help with the cramps, and exercise, etc.
Just last month I started up with the recommended exercise regime and magnesium, and had my first bearable period. It was PHENOMENAL! I only took 2 ibuprofen during the whole thing (in the past I have resorted to hardcore anti-inflammatories and pain killers).
Expecting the same thing this month I duplicated the way in which I received this period. Exercise... mellow out time... magnesium and calcium...relaxing hot baths.
Contrary to what I expected this month has by far been the most horrible terrible painful period I have ever had in my life!!! I have spent at least 3 hours for the last 4 days completely unable to move. Usually this magnitude of pain only lasts for one day
I am literally bleeding out giant nasty clots like I did when I was younger. The whole bottom of the toilet has a thick coat of clotted blood before I flush.
I am in so much pain I feel like puking, and am dizzy presumably from the endorphoines my body has been releasing to deal with this.
I don't know what the heck to do. I have my own housekeeping business, and can't afford to call in sick and dissapoint my clients.
I was just reading Women's Bodies/Women's Wisdom, and it talked about how your body communicates with you, and it seems to me that the message one month ago was 'I welcome and enjoy this new positive healthy change. It's about dam time!', and this month it is, "You will always fear your period until the end of time-now get into bed and read a book for a week while you develop an iron deficiency from all the blood I am robbing you of"
Anyways, I am asking if anyone has any ideas to help soothe the pain, or has had similar experiences. Currently I use a combo of ice packs and heating pads, alternating them. I just want to stay away from pain pills because I am having to go to work and interact with clients, plus I hate the way they make me feel 'clouded'. I don't smoke pot anymore, even though I have been told it could be good for my cramps, it just makes me feel too 'icky' for that to be a feasible pain relief alternative.
I really don't know what the heck is up with my body. I have a specialist appointment in December, but that is another period away!
Anything anyone says will be much appreciated!
