Six months ago i had a pap test that showed pre-precancerous cells. For ten years before this, my paps were fine (I'm 30). So a couple of weeks ago i had another one, and apparently "there is something going on down there" (actual quote from my doctor), and i have to see a different gnyo for different tests and procedures, which may include a biopsy, and a D and C. I'm quite terrified that i may have cancer ... anyone else out there who has gone through this? How do they do a biopsy? And is the D and C an actual surgery, in the hospital, or something that can be done in the doctor's office? Thanks for any advice.

Hi, this is my first post. I'm not particularly sexually active. I've had sex only 3 times with 2 guys (protected) who I knew very well (one was a virgin, the other had only slept with one girl, who was a virgin). I've only received oral sex once (in february), and the guy didn't have any sores on his mouth. I naturally worry about everything, that's probably the problem.

But in any case, by my urethra, i have a really tiny tiny bump--we're talking smaller than a pimple on your face, about 1mm. It's the same color as the skin around it, and to see what it was, I tried popping it and nothing came out, it only stretched if I tried pulling it. it doesn't hurt, it's not irritated. there might be more than one, but no more than three. It doesn't even itch or give any pain at all.

I've had a million "scares", and I always freak out, and i went to the gyno recently. She didn't test me for anything, but she told me I didn't need to because I hadn't done anything that risky, and that she couldn't see anything. i dont know how long I've had this bump for, I've never noticed it before, but i'm so worried you would not believe. any help? Also, that general area is bumpy and always has been, so any chance it's just a part of my skin?

I recently got an Implanon implant inserted and I know its just been approved in the USA so not much in the memories here and I can't find anything in Vulvapedia. I have read how Depo-Provera can cause Bone Mineral Density changes and just wanted to know if this would apply to Implanon. They both use progestin so I assume it could have the same effects - is a fair assumption? Also I know if you take certain antibotics when on the pill you need to use backup protection if having sex...would this be the same for Implanon? Thankyou!

I feel as if this may be a stupid question, but I just started getting myself sort of concerned.

How -easy- is it to get pregnant? Like... my concerns lie with my potentially being infertile.

See, a couple of years ago, before my current boyfriend and before I went -back- n the pill (I think I had been off for a year and a half, perhaps two), I was with a guy and we would use condoms but, and don't get irritated because we both knew it was a horrible oversight, there were two times where we had had sex without any protection. Aaaaand, I didn't get pregnant. I was thankful at the time.

Cut to now. I am back on the pill although its OTC-Lo instead of regular Ortho, and I rarely miss a day but I've never been one to take them religiously at the same time every day. In fact, I had NO idea that it was so crucial (in talking with my gyno, while I was still taking Ortho, at one point re: spotting, she had asked if I was taking them at regular times and said that the spotting could occur from that, that mood swings could occur, but she never said anything about lower levels of protection). I only discovered this by reading this community. It's what got me thinking.

So I keep thinking now, are these things signs that I'm infertile or is this just silliness for me to worry? Could those two times have just been lucky misses, fallen on lucky days in my cycle? :/

I thought this might be a helpful entry for other people to refer to in the future :)

I was recently diagnosed with HPV, the high-risk sort. My gyn had me in on Wednesday to check for abnormal cells. She poured 5% vinegar into my vaginal canal, and looked with a microscope. The vinegar changes abnormal cells white, and inflamed cells red. She found two tiny patches of 'inflamed' cells, which she removed. She then put in some sort of clotting stuff, and told me to wear a pad to catch the 'scabs' that would be come out the next few days.

The scabby material looks like tissue, but my gyn had warned me that I might think I was passing tissue, but that it wasn't anything to be worried about. It is rather gross, though. No intercourse or heavy exercise (bye bye gym) until the scabby stuff is done leaving.

I'm scheduled to be vaccinated against the low-risk version of HPV, but nothing can actually be done about the high-risk, except, I suppose, wait for it to go away.

I was under the impression that HPV *will* leave on its own. Is this true?

Thanks :)

After years of discussion with numerous health care providers, a miscarriage and more bloodwork than I care to think about, I've finally been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome.)

The doctor I saw yesterday (who works with the midwife I get my routine gyn care from) suggested that along with metformin, I should go off the pill. Effectively what he said was that some women with PCOS find they have a better metabolic response to the metformin when they're not on the pill, and that because I have the variety of PCOS that includes cysts, and the pill isn't suppressing them as well as he'd like, I should go off the pill. We did briefly discuss other contraceptive methods, though nothing long term, because the ultimate goal is to try and get pregnant within three to six months. Among the contraceptive options he suggested were condoms, withdrawl, "the rhythm method"-basically anything I wanted that wasn't hormonal or long term.

He did ask for very careful cycle monitoring, to see if ovulation returns with the use of the metformin, and suggested the use of an OPK (ovulation predictor kit) in addition to monitoring BBT and cervical mucous. I've looked at the reviews at peeonastick.com, and I'm still undecided about whether it makes sense to spend the money on the Clearblue Fertility Monitor (the reuseable monitor that you need to buy test sticks for,) or the other, disposeable variety. Does anyone have experience with OPKs, and could talk to me more about what the experience has been like, and what the preferences are? I'm leaning towards Clearblue or Persona, only because I think getting accurate readings might be easier, but it's almost $200 US, and before I spend that kind of money, I think it requires some thought and investigation.

Any other feedback from people here with PCOS would also be appreciated. I'm quite glad to finally have the diagnosis and to treat it.

I keep scaring myself, thinking I'm pregnant.
But, as of lately, I've gotten a little more worried.
Here's why:

-I've gained weight [10 pounds] and it all seems to be going to my stomache, which is really odd because I never gain weight [I weighed 105 pounds before]

-I haven't had a period in three months, and now that I have had it it only lasted half of one day, and the next two it was just barely spotty

-my boyfriend and I had sex a few times without a condom a month or so ago, making me paranoid

Now I can't decide if this is pregnancy or it's just my birth control.
I know it can make you gain weight and have lighter, or no, periods.
So that's why I'm asking all of you.
I figured you all might have a better idea of what I'm going through...

So please!!!
Write me back ASAP!!!

last night i had dinner around 9:30 and took my pill (ortho tri-cyclen lo) right after. i woke up at 5:00am and proceeded to vomit my dinner. (gross!) i have no idea whether or not i needed to take another pill. i didn't, because i figured 7.5 hours in between was enough time to digest it. i'm just not sure though because if my dinner wasn't digested, would my pill be? what stunning stomach pyrotechnics, right? so in short, am i ok? should i double up?

also! i think my boobs may have grown... which they hadn't done in a while. is that probably from the pill?

When I went to the doctor earlier this week, he told me something I thought was interesting, because I'd never heard it before, even from my regular doc.

He told me that after being on Levora 28 for about 2 1/2 to 3 years, women generally stop menstruating. He told me it wasn't a problem, but to be aware of it, as I've been on it almost 2 years now.

My current lady doc has never mentioned anything like this to me, ever, and I'm a bit surprised, because this is something I would consider Important To Know.

Have any of you ladies ever expericenced this, or known anyone who has??

Thanks in advance, VP'rs...
