hi girls. im sorry if im annoying. i dont mean to be.

i have a couple issues.

first of all, im slightly sex-crazed. okay. REALLY sex crazed.

today (thursday) makes a full week since my colp and biopsy.
i, of course, avoided having anything in me the 24 hours before the procedure and nothing has been in there since.
so. today starts day 8 of having a void vagina. *giggle* and to be quite honest, its driving me a little insane.

now, ive heard two different things about the amount of time to wait before having sex (or putting anything in there for that matter). the most common ive heard is one week. but some sources say two. my gyno...well. i think she said one...but to be honest, she told me so fast that i could be wrong.

part of me wants to wait BUT, since im going to have cryo done next week...and you're not allowed to have sex for quite some time after that...there's also a HUGE part of me that just NEEDS some sex. because. its going to be bad enough after the cryo. for gods sake. i start going crazy after 5 days of sexlessness. =( so i figure...maybe if i have some sex BEFORE that then it wont be so hard on me. haha. warped, i know. but i told you. im sex-crazed.

i mean. i feel fine. i really had no bleeding. and the icky discharge from the solutions and stuff stopped days ago. BUT (this is where my crazy kicks in) im mentally a little afraid to have anything near my cervix. im afraid it will get bumped or something and either hurt like a bitch or start bleeding. :( is that totally irrational?

basically. i guess...i want you to tell me how long you waited before having sex (or even masturbating with penetration...shit. these are really desperate times.) ? and when you DID, did you experience any pain or bleeding or any of these horrible things that im imagining?

thanks sweeties.

My friend and I are in a middle of an on going debate:

My friend says that once a girl loses her virginity (she lost hers when she was 15, I'm still a virgin) that she bleeds more heavily when she gets her period than when she was a virgin. She was saying that because the vagina stretches more, making more room for the blood come out. I don't really buy this.

And another thing is. She tells me that you can tell if a girl "Has been around the block too many times," meaning slept with a lot of people. By looking at her lips of the vagina because they hang much more than girls who don't.

I honestly think this is all bullshit...but she's adamant that its true. If anyone can clear this up, I would really apperciate it.

Thanks!

In short, if you are buying your mooncup online - you cannot receive the discount that is advertised on the website, it is only for UK buyers who go into the boots pharmacies. I'm kinda bummed but it happens.

Hey whoever remembers, I took the prometrium my gyno prescribed me uhh a month ago by now and never got my period. I was supposed to have gotten it within two weeks. Does anyone know what the hell is wrong with me? Could stress continue to counteract the effects of the hormones that were basically guaranteed to work? I went in last friday and got four vials of blood drawn, and the nurse said they were "testing hormones" or something. I am kind of in the dark. Any info helpful thank you.

Hello ladies! I just joined on the recommendation of a lady in another community, and wanted to ask my question here.

Please help )

So I went to the gyno today and was trying to ask about menstrual cups and increased risk of IUD expulsion. However, she interrupted me (wasn't a big fan of this nurse practitioner!), and assumed I was asking about the cup in general. She said "bad idea. Blood is the perfect medium for growing bacteria, and you really don't want all that bacteria up by your cervix. Unless you're emptying the cup frequently, its just a bad idea. Better to just let it flow."

I didn't ask how often she meant by "frequently" because I was surprised and annoyed with her interruption/assumption. Has anyone ever heard anything like this before. I fully intend to keep using my cup regardless, but I wonder about the validity of this. I'm thinking that there would be similar issues with tampons if it was in fact an issue - and if you can leave a tampon in for eight hours, you should be fine leaving a cup in at least that long.

Any thoughts?

I seem to have a bruise on my right breast...at least it feels tender like a bruise. It's not colored like one though, which is what makes me wonder. It's just this red painful splotch that's been there for a few days. I don't feel any bumps or anything, and although it is centered around a hair folicle I don't see any ingrown hairs. What do you ladies think? Just a bruise? I've never gotten one on either of the girls before lol.

So in December of last year, I had an ultrasound which revealed some small fibroids and a mass in my cervix. A few weeks later, I had a D&C and a hysteroscopy, after which I distinctly remember them telling me that they removed the mass, which turned out to be built up mucous in my cervical opening (weird...) and removed the fibroids which turned out not to be cancerous. He basically told me that he "scraped my uterus clean". I even remember him talking about how he removed them. And then they tell me I need a follow up ultrasound in June. Okay.

So I move to Iowa (from Florida) in January, and I didn't get insurance until June, and just spaced on the ultrasound. I finally got in to a gyno July 26th where they requested my records from my past doc.

I called them up today wondering about making that follow up ultrasound with them and this is what she tells me:

"We received your records from your previous doctor's office, but they didn't remove any fibroids. It said they did find some on the ultrasound, and there are diagrams showing where they are, but when they did the hysteroscopy, they didn't find any. Which more than likely means you do have them still, but they're on the outside of your uterus."

This completely baffled me, and worried me a tad as well. I asked if I should have the ultrasound to make sure they're really there, but she said she wouldn't do it unless my uterus started feeling lumpy upon physical exam. Does this sound strange? What if they ARE cancerous, and I'd never know because the doctor never did any biopsies or tests or even removed anything!?

I'm just confused and concerned. I feel like I've been lied to and given some false sense of security. I don't know if I should be so worried and if I should get a second opinion/ultrasound elsewhere, or just leave it alone. What do you all think?

My period is being weird.

I had an abortion in April and before that I was taking Tri-nessa. I was a start my period on Wednesday night after the last active pill (Sunday) kinda girl. Well after the abortion, I started taking Ovcon35. I took it for 2 months and after both packs I had Monday to Monday long periods. Whoa. So I went to my gyno and switched to the Nuvaring. The first month on Nuvaring was the same thing...week long period...the second month I put my ring in on Friday instead of Sunday to stop myself from bleeding a week.

You can wear a ring for up to 4 weeks, so I wore mine for 3 weeks and 3 days...I took it out on Tuesday morning. I thought that I would start and have my period during my days off...but it has yet to show up.

Do you think that my body is still adjusting from the abortion and is just being weird? We have been using double protection so I really don't think that I could be pregnant.

I understand all about how the divacup works, but what do you do if you're in a public toilet and you need to empty it out?
Do you use the disabled loo instead?

Thanks dudes!

Hi there all! I've posted before & just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped, You gals are awesome!!

Now on to my dilemma. I am a semi-hardcore (kind of contridictory I know) Cross country runner. We run about 4 to 5 miles on average a day whether it's 90 degrees or 60, so I've slowly been acclimating to running. Oddly enough I forgot my inhaler today so I was only allowed to do the time trial trails, well while I was running I'd have to stop and walk to catch my breath about the second time I had to slow down [sorry if this is TMI] I started to get cramps in my pelvic area that felt like I was on my period. I tried to just ignore them, but they were pretty strong and eventually I had to sit on the ground to get my Center. I've never had this happen before & I was wondering if anyone had any clues to what happened. I know normally you can get stiches in your sides/AB muscles from running.. but I've never heard of vaginal/pelvic cramps from running. I hope it's not anything serious.

Also: I didn't know if it made any difference, but my period is still about a week & 1/2 away so I don't think they were menstrual cramps.

Thanks for the help in advance!!

Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster. I just made a long rant in my journal about my experience with my gynecologist and my frustration with my lack of birth control options. I'd really like to hear your advice on the situation.

Here is the rant (link to my journal).

So, in summation:
- my gyno is kind of an asshat (don't worry, I'm switching - does anyone have any recommendations for someone good in Guelph, ON, by the way?).
- I very much want to avoid (synthetic/chemical) hormones.
- I don't think I'll be getting an IUD (the only option for me would be the copper-T and that means horrendous periods, which I'd rather avoid since I developed anemia because of my excessively heavy periods before the pill - also, what the doctor said about infections and my fear of getting something implanted in me and such).
- I'm worried about the effectiveness of barrier methods and I'm frustrated/depressed that they are my only options.
- I'm thinking of using FAM along with my barrier methods since I'm really terrified to trust it.
- I'm in a long-term monogamous relationship, and we're moving in together next month.

Any advice/support? Thanks :)

plan b

OK, question.

First time using Plan B. According to the pharmacist, he says if I don't experience bleeding tomorrow, it probably didn't work. And to definitely pick up some Gravol, because I'll be vomiting.

According to the Plan B booklet, only 6% of people vomit. And it says "some womyn will experience spotting."

So what's going to really happen to me? I mean, granted, I'm going to take it and find out myself, and I'll know if it worked after a month anyways, but I don't want to be feeling completely fine the next few days and worry that I've gotten knocked up somehow.

(p.s. I read the thing about medical advice on the userinfo, I hope this question is allowed.)

So, my last period was on July 4th, and I am on day 45 of this cycle. I do have a copper IUD, and I had an ultrasound in June to check for ovarian cysts, so they checked the position then too. No cysts found and reports that the IUD is in place. I had a ton of stress at the beginning of the month, and had some the month before, when my period came at long last after 38 days, though it has been about 31 days on average. Until today, my stressors from the beginning of the month when my period was due have subsided, and the issues have been resolved. So still waiting. I took a test on Sunday, and it came up negative within a few seconds of me holding the stick in the cup with my urine. Hoping that would alleviate any pregnancy fears, I would have thought it would be here by now, but it isn't. So, I called the gyno and talked to them on the phone about this. They said so long I was wasn't in severe pain, or bleeding too much, that I was likely ok, and probably working residual stress out, or possibly peri-menopause (I am almost 32). They did not seem too worried, but said if I was in pain or had other concerns, to call them back. In an email to my mom to ask her about menopause ages in her side of the family, she did bring up that ectopic pregnancies aren't always detected in home pregnancy tests, and having an IUD, my risk for a pregnancy being ectopic was greater (though still less than not being on any BC at all). The fear and anxiety is back. So, if I really was pregnant, despite the recent test result, and it was ectopic, would I feel anything at this point? Any abdominal pain at this time? I do plan on taking the other test again on Sunday, since it is suggested to wait a week. Any information would be helpful.

I may cross post this to iud_divas.
