Hello all,

My question is pretty general. I'm 21 (22 on Sat whoo!) and I'm on Ortho Evra, not sexually active. It seems that every period I have is pretty basic, no terrible cramping or heavy bleeding.

However, on what seems to be the last day of my period and maybe a couple days after it ENDS, I'm keeling over with the pain. What could be causing this? Or could it be that my (then stripped) uterus is just repairing itself and making me cramp up?

Okay Ladies,
While I normally I would probably be way to embarrassed to post this, panicking times are call for desperate measures.
Last night I had a one night stand with a friend of mine, and (seeing as I didn't have any lube at the time) we stupidly used olive oil. As I discovered this morning from my roommate, olive oil breaks down the latex in condoms. So, here's the question:
1. how quickly does that happen?
2. do I need to start running for the hills in fear?
Obviously, I'll get tested, but I wanted to find out how terribly stupid I was.

I have been on oral contraceptives (Mircette) for a long time, and today I happened to glance at the guide that comes with the pack of pills and read that the Pill may affect blood clotting and that, if you are having surgery, your doctor might take you off of them a few weeks prior.

And then I thought, "Eeep...I'm supposed to have my wisdom teeth out..." And when I say "have my wisdom teeth out", I don't just mean pulled; there's going to be some cutting involved.

Uh, should I be worried about this? Should I call my doctor immediately? Or is this warning only relevant for, say, open heart surgery...?

last night my SO and i had sex... or tried to... but it felt like it was rubbing the walls of my vagina raw. he wore a condom (he ALWAYS does) and neither of us has a single std. it should have been going over my g spot, but that wasn't even getting aroused. if i rub my g spot and NOTHING happens (i've orgasmed before), what am i supposed to do? my clit is too sensitive to rub directly, and now my g spot feels like it's... broken, i guess. my SO is very well endowed, so the rubbing raw pain might be linked to that. there's no blood or anything weird coming out of me... and i ended my period less than a week ago, i think. i want to have an orgasm. it's been so long. all i could do last night was sit there and try to hold back my tears out of frustration. i don't want this to take a toll on our sex life. he was really understanding and told me he loves me anyway no matter what, but i want to satisfy him. it felt so akward that i just couldn't keep going. is there anything i could do to help loosen myself up too? i've been having sex with him for a few years now, and it still hurts so. much. the only positions we ever do are missionary and cowgirl because anything else just feels akward to me. also, is there anything i could do to spice up our sex life? nothing weird (rollplaying, sado masochism, etc), just something that'll help. i also guess i masturbate a lot in my sleep... he said i do it on most nights. i never recall what i'm actually dreaming about, and every once in a great while i'll wake up in the middle of my orgasm. could this have something to do with it? i thought women could orgasm over and over again, but is it possible that i'm using all mine up while i'm sleeping?

Hullo everybody,

Ok, at the end of July I finish my first three months of Ortho Tri Cyclen. My doctor gave me more pills recently, except they were Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. The secretary said the only thing different about them was that it had a lower estrogen level. Soo because of this is there anything else I should know? My mom told me to watch for anything different, headaches and what not. Should I wait another seven days from the start of the pill to have sex?

Also, my doctor gave me 2 months worth of Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo pills, whenever they get more of the normal Tri Cyclen, I’m going back to that, so hopefully my body won’t get screwed up or confused or what not?

Yeah, I’m kind of clueless haha ^_^

Thanks!

i've had some ovary pain for the past two days (on the left today, on the right yesterday).
it only lasts a minute or two.
i was wondering if this could have anything to do with the fact that i skipped my last period and am on my 3rd ortho evra patch now.
(sunday will be patch removal day to get my period).
or is it something else?

What could cause a missing period, other than pregnancy?

Here are the facts: My last period was three weeks late, but was regular in terms of length and heaviness. That was eight weeks ago. I am 25 years old and have taken several pregnancy tests, all of which have come out negative.

I AM going to the ob/gyn next week, but I was wondering if anyone had ideas. The only thing I can think of is stress or weight loss, but frankly I haven't lost that much weight and I'm not that stressed right now (or, at least, not as stressed as I've been in the past when my period appeared like clockwork).

I am not on any HBC (we use condoms), and my period has always appeared every 30 days up until these last two cycles. I am married and in a monogamous relationship.

I have a cyst-like... cyst on the inside of one side of my labia minora. It used to be smaller at least a few days ago, but it increased in size a bit and it pains me a bit when I wipe. Will it go away on its own? Should I absolutely see a doctor?

Is popping a no-no if it is just a pimple?

Hey everyone, I promise I'm not affiliated with the gladrags people at all, I just really love their products and I wanted to spread the word about this awesome offer. You can get a free reusable cotton pad if you add a link to the Gladrags website on your blog and then contact them with the link to your blog and your mailing address. There's no shipping charges or anything. I put the link up on my blog about 5 weeks ago and just received the pad in the mail today.

For some reason, they aren't advertising this offer on their website; I heard about it in their email newsletter last month. So you just have to trust me on this, but you should hear back from them within a day or two of contacting them :). I just wanted to share this awesome opportunity especially in case any of you (or anyone you know) has been thinking about giving alternative menstrual products a try--what better way than to try it free??

Hiya. New member, here.

Anyway, some back-ground to my current prob is that inorder to ease a hormonal imbalance in the past, caused by PCOS (cysts on ovaries), I've had to get on the pill. I've been on it for four years now, with a ever-decreasing libido. The pill and my stressed-out lifestyle are huge culprits in that, I do understand. My problem is that now whenever I do seldomly masterbate, quite unexageratively..I. can't. stop. Then, the next day is followed by extreme lethargy and depression.

It's like a rollar-coaster, and becoming even more pronounced. What the hell is going on? Is this common?

Thanks much, in advance.

about 2 weeks ago, I forgot to take my birth control for 3 days, consecutively. My periods been spottting every morning ever since. It usually goes away by the evening. Will this continue for the rest of my cycle? I've been taking my pill every day since. And also, should i skip the sugar pills this month and just go onto another pack since i already sorta had my period?

plan b

ok so last night i had sex and the condom fell off.
today i went to planned parenthood and got Plan B which i will be taking in a few hours after i have dinner.

i have been waiting a while for my period to start so i could begin taking birth control pills, but it hasnt come. the lady at PP told me to take the plan b tonight and then i could start my birth control pills tomorrow. has anyone ever done this? im a little concerned bc when the gyno perscribed them to me she had told me i needed to wait til i got my period before i started them.

secondly, has anyone here ever taken Plan B and still gotten pregnant?
i was told to start my birth control tomorrow and then to take another pregnancy test during the placebo week just to make sure. im just really nervous that even after taking the Plan B i will still get pregnant.

and to top it all off i had sex last week with a different guy. we used a condom but things got rushed and we didnt really get to finish and i was stupid and didnt get a chance to check it afterwards. im pretty sure he didnt come, but im not entirely sure. i know the Plan B wouldnt do anything now bc its been over a week and im just really nervous of the chance that if i end up being pregnant, it could be his.

and any other Plan B stories would be appreciated!
thanks ladies and sorry that the post is kind of long and confusing!

I really need some advice because I am freaking out trying to figure out why my period won't come. There is no way I am pregnant and I have been having regular periods for over four years, then last month it never came. I thought I may have missed it due to mild stress but then this month it didn't come either. My last period was in early May. Any advice or ideas on what the cause of this could be or how worried I should be?

I'm still relatively new in getting to know my body, and I was feeling around my vagina as I was putting my diva cup in, and felt something I've never noticed before: that my cervix isn't the end of my vagina. It's just a cylinder, with room on all sides until you get quite a bit further up. Maybe I've just never seen a good diagram, but this was a total shock to me. Is this normal? Am I mistaken in what I felt? Why, in every diagram I've ever seen, does it look like the cervix is the end of the penetrable area? Why did I never feel this when penetrating my partner?

I really hope I'm not making a total fool of myself, and thanks for any input.

My little sister got her first period yesterday. She's really embarrassed and doesn't want anyone to know about it except for Mom. I assume Mom told me because she doesn't want to deal with it beyond saying: "Here, honey, have a pad." So, I've taken it upon myself to give my sister The Talk.

I have a few concerns. How do I approach the subject in such a way that my own personal views about menstruation and female health don't color our discussion? That's confusing. I don't want my sister to feel disgusted with her body, but I also want her to make up her own mind about how she feels about her period and reaching puberty and how she wants to deal with it. She's 12; should I bring up different kinds of menstrual products?

I have another sister, age 15, who is extremely judgmental, and I'm afraid she could do some damage when she finds out about my other sister getting her period. She's the kind of girl who would say something like, "That's gross, plug it up!" If my little sister ends up finding menstruation gross, I think it should be because she's gone through a few cycles herself and found it messy or inconvenient or whatever, not because someone told her it was gross, you know?

Also: what kind of advice can I give her about coping with puberty in general?

Blah. I just want my sister to be able to reach a place where she can be comfortable with herself and the changes she's going through.

Hey guys!

i read in Clucky about a girl who has factor 5 leiden. she said her blood and gyno doctor told her that she couldnt carry full term because of the clotting disorder. she would bleed to death.

I have factor 5 leiden and well i was told i could carry full term or well i was never told that i couldnt. now she could be Homozygous(geneous?) for the issue....and i am heterozygous(geneous?) so that could be why she cant carry full term and why i can. plus she's on medication while i was only banned from hormones (im on the mirena but we are hoping that since the mirena is progesterone and a lower level of progesterone it will be okay).

does anyone here know anything about factor 5 leiden and carrying to full term? im really worried....i already dont ovulate but i thought i was safe (well average) in terms of actually carrying the baby...

I am about to go on the MasterCleanse but have heard that any medication taken is almost wholly digested. So, what about my birth control? Is there any other way to take it (I take Ortho Lo)? Thanks.

i know i post here a lot about usually the same thing.. but here is the only place i have a chance of getting any help.

for the last few months i've suspected i had a yeast infection. i got it after taking antibiotics for a bladder infection caused by (what i believe to be) drinking unpasturized apple juice. at first there were VERY yeasty like symptoms. clumpy discharge, super intense itching.. etc. it went away (for the most part.. but not entirely) after a while with some acidophillus and time.

for a while after this, there wasn't nearly as much itching or anything. just a sort of sticky discharge that smelled like yeast some. it would go away during my period and come back on the ending day.

acidophillus didn't seem to help this go away anymore than it already had, and i was experiencing severe dryness.. i took azo yeast for a while and it created a thin clear discharge for a while, and i thought i was finally getting back to normal .. but then just suddenly stopped.

so i decided on boric acid to hopefully eliminate the problem for good.

the boric acid brought it from a stage of dryness and occasional sticky discharge to dryness, and occasionally what seemed almost like water coming out of me. not a lot, but there was no consistency to the discharge. it was just.. wet. not sticky, or thick, or anything.

i dont know really what i am asking here, other than if anyone can identify whats wrong with me, (i know i should see a doctor, im working on this but .. :-/ im not in the best situation to be able to see one right now), how to fix it, similar stories, etc.

i am hoping now that i have posted everything that has went wrong with me for the last few months that someone can help me out..

Has anyone here ever been on Synthroid for a hypothyroid as well as HBC containing estrogen? I was reading over Synthroid's packet (I've been on it for years, but never really read the entire thing for whatever reason), and it warns against the use of any estrogen products, including HBC with estrogen in it.

I know that Yasmin and Synthroid will cause a reaction which will result in high potassium levels and cardiac arrest (which is a good thing I didn't give in why my original OB/GYN pushed me to take it when I started birth control--he even knew I was on Synthroid, the bastard), but I'm uncertain if I should be worried about Ortho-Cyclen. I've only been on Ortho-Cyclen for a couple of months now--previously I had been on the patch.

So I was just wondering if any of you had any information. I'd lovelovelove to get the Mirena IUD, but unfortunately, I live in the deep south (Western North Carolina/Charleston, SC). The technician at the women's health clinic tried to tell me NO ONE inserted IUDs unless you had previously given birth due to size of the cervix, and until recently, women could only get tubal ligations with signed consent from their husband (no husband, no tubal). So I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to get one any time in the near future without some sort of vein bursting in my forehead. :\

tampons

ok so i just started my period so i have to use tampons right now, and everytime i put them in i can feel them. i though you werent suppose to? they are super cause thats all my mom has, but ive used regular size too.

so am i not sticking it in far enough? cause it feels like its coming out... so basically i guess im wondering how far am i suppose to put the applicator in?

EDIT: I get how to insert a tampon, i just dont know how far to put it in before i push it in with the applicator? make sense?

oh and i got another question even though it might make me sound stupid.

What is the pill for? is it the birth control pill? or a different one? and what are the pros and cons especially if you dont have sex. ive heard it will make hair grow on your body more. sorry if this sounds stupid but thanks for the help.

I know some women here have mentioned having mid-cycle cramping before, and I've read that this can be "middleschmertz" or ovulation pain, but here's my issue:

I'm on Yasmin, and have been for years. I didn't miss any pills last month but I did start a new pack this month (July 1st) about 7 hours late. My gyno has told me only 7 hours is not likely to cause any problems. I haven't missed any pills since. So why the heck have I been having vague period-like cramps for the past few days, as well as what feels like mild ovulation pains? My whole set of girly bits is being very strange. It's not painful so much as a "weird" feeling. I did have sex on the 4th of July, 4 days into my new pack, but as I said, other than starting the pack a few hours late, I've taken the pills perfectly, so I highly doubt I'm experiencing implantation cramping or something like that. I suppose I could be having breakthrough ovulation somewhow, but in that case, I'm clearly not pregnant as it's been about 10 days since I did the deed. In addition, I'm borderline underweight with fairly low body fat, so I'm sure my pill's dosage is quite enough to keep me from ovulating, ya know?

The only other explanation I can think of is that I am training for a half-marathon and have significantly increased my activity level fairly quickly over the last couple months. I imagine it's possible that this is wreaking a little havoc on my cycle, even if I'm on the pill, but who knows.

Does anyone have mid-cycle cramping like this while on the pill? This has never happened to me to this extent before. Occasionally I've had twinges mid-cycle but nothing lasting as long as this. I'd greatly appreciate any input.

I've seen quite a few questions about penicillin and BCPs in the archives, but I'm not finding anything pertinent to my specific inquiry.
I've been taking penicillin for strep for just under a week, with no adverse effects. I've never had a YI, even with yearly antibiotic prescriptions for Strep. For the first time ever, my nether regions are reacting to the medication. The skin on my mons is really dry, and kind of flaky. Is this just normal, or should I be worried about a possibly YI?
Thanks, ladies!

*delurks*

Hey all, I'm new here, but I've been following the posts for a while.

Just for the past week, I've been experiencing itching and burning Down There, and thought it might be a yeast infection. However, my discharge (though more than normal) is clear, and rather than smelling like bread it smells kinda nasty. Almost fishy, but not quite. It started on Monday, and I've been wearing cotton underwear and taking acidophilus pills all week.

I'm not sure what might have triggered this, or what it really is, or how to treat it. I plan on going to the walk-in tomorrow, but any clues would be so helpful.

Oh, on Sunday my boyfriend and I...we did have oral sex and he fingered me quite a bit. Could this have thrown off the acidity down there? Anything would be helpful :)

Thanks so much!

ETA: Yes, I was diagnosed with BV. Thanks for the help, girls!

I've noticed ever since I had my baby [it's almost been two months] that my discharge and all around smell down there doesn't smell the same. In fact, it smells like my boyfriend's cum gone bad or something. It's really unpleasant to me. My boyfriend hasn't cum in me (that I'm aware of) for almost 3 months though so I don't really understand why I would take on his scent. Can anyone shed some light on whats going on and if I should be worried?
