I am considering getting an IUD (copper/non-hormonal). Thanks for all the info posted here (both communities), it's been really helpful. However, I couldn't find anything in the memories about the extraction process. Has anyone had an IUD removed? Was it due to choice or problems? What was it like? Does it make a difference how long you've had it in (I plan on having kids in about five years so won't use all 10 years of the IUD's life)?

Also, is insertion covered under OHIP (Ontario, Canada government healthcare)?

Hey Ladies,

I always feel myself ovulating, usually it isn't painful, just slightly uncomfortable (alternating sides from month to month.) I know this is all very normal.

Recently in class, my ovulation pain was EXTREMELY painful, very sharp. I know that this too, is not uncommon. So I wasn't worried in the least.

Well, my best friend is a bit of a worrier/hypochondriac and she experienced the same intense pain where her left ovary is, so she called her doctor about it. Her doctor told her that when the pain is intense, it means two eggs are actually released instead of one and that this meant you were more likely to have fraternal twins.

Is that right?

Thanks,
Jonna

can you girls help me figure something out?
I am period slow. I've had my period for about 12 years now, and I STILL don't know how to figure out when it will be here. I know you're supposed to average 28 days inbetween, but is it inbetween when it starts, or the end of your period?

here's the dillema. I am getting married on october 21st of this year. our honeymoon will be november 6th-12th. the last time I was at the gyno, I asked her to help me figure out the days, and we found out it would land on the wedding, so I should skip a period.
right before she started explaining all of it to me, the bitter old hag went into a rampage about how I shouldn't let my fiance have a bachelor party....and how I "know what goes on at those." and "how sleazy guys are..." blah blah basically suggesting that my fiance was cheating on me with a HOOKER! needless to say, I didn't hear a WORD she said after that.

I just did what she told me and followed her instructions on taking an extra row of pills...and I ended up having a period for NINETEEN days straight.
so it didn't work.

now how the crap do I figure this out? I am on my period right now, it came wednesday, and should be gone by tomorrow, saturday. where do I go from here in figuring out if it will land on wedding/honeymoon week? and how do I go about skipping a period if it does? I don't want to bleed for 19 days, again! but I also don't want to be the girl in cozumel with a tampon string hanging out of her bikini....or even worse....the girl having to lay a towel down on the bed her wedding night ;(

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this...?

I graduated from college in December, and have been living at my parents house again since early March. Lately, I've noticed that my orgasms have been very... weak? I can't have an orgasm with a partner anymore, without literally an hour of clitoral stimulation and my orgasms from masturbation are tiny where they used to be.. amazing. I have such a low sex drive lately, and can't get wet enough naturally to be able to have intercourse comfortably (we use astroglide). I'm not on any form of birth control, or any medication. I'm not exercising as much as I was when I was in college, could that be causing this? Also, when I have sex my partner doesn't feel as big inside me as he used to. I've asked him if I feel looser and he says that I feel the same.

What could be causing this lack of sensitivity?

I went into the doctor to get checked out for PCOS and I didn't think it would be a man doing the pelvic exam but it was. I never thought I would be so uncomforatable with the opposite sex doing the exam. It makes no sense logically to me. He was very professional. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of illogical reaction to a male doctor vs a female.

Yesterday I went to the gynecologist for the first time in close to 2 years. Since coming home from there, my panties have stayed wet and I've been crampy. When I went ot the bathroom earlier, there was blood. I've been on birth control for ages and I've never had any sort of spotting when I'm not on my period. I'm wondering if maybe it's actual blood and my cervix was just a little sensitive after the pap/STD test. Then again, I'm also paranoid that maybe it's a UTI, since this is how it started for me when I had one before-- mysterious bleeding and cramping. Of course I need to wait and see if there's blood in my urine, but I don't really know how I could get one now. I'm on hardcore antibiotics for a sinus infection . . . plus I had to pee in a cup for my exam yesterday, and I'm pretty sure that *something* would've shown up then if that's what was going on. I also make sure I always urinate before and after sex because I know how painful and irritating a UTI can be (of course I know that that doesn't mean I can't still get one). So, has anybody else ever had this problem? Is it just the pap/std tests that made me have a little bit of blood? Argh, why must women's bodies be so complicated? Any way, thanks for an insight you can provide. :o)

Okay, recently -- as in, during the past 2 or 3 months -- every time I start typing in the Papa John's website to order a pizza, my computer automatically directs me to this page about pap smears from The National Women's Health Information Center.

It happened so often, I began to think of it as a Sign. You know, the Great Internet Gremlins in the... internet... trying to convice me to do something. Now, I'm pretty well versed in what to expect from my pap smear, but I know VP gets a lot of questions about paps, and I'd bet even more members have questions they haven't quite asked.

Clickably formatted -- in much the same way as our FAQs are -- the page is pretty user-friendly and easy to navigate. So if you have questions about pap smears, or if you'd like to impress folks at dinner parties with your Amazing Pap Smear Knowledge (yes, those strange looks they give you actually mean they are in awe of your wisdom), have fun checking it out.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a pizza to order. ;)

I've been on Mircette HBC (or the generic, Kariva) for many many years (I think almost 7, at this point.)
This is the second month in the last 4 that I've had breakthrough bleeding around the middle of my cycle (I still have a week's worth of pills before my period is supposed to start.)  I haven't skipped my period recently (although I do sometimes) so that isn't the problem.
This happened only one other time while I've been on this BC, many many years ago.
I recently (like, December) became sexually active.
So it worries me that I've had breakthrough bleeding twice since then.  (At least, I assume it's breakthrough bleeding and not something else?)
Thoughts?
