my friend who is in her 40's has been experiencing pain during penetration the last couple weeks. nothing is different from normal in her day to day life and she has never had this problem before. before she goes to the doctor any ideas? could it have to do with menopause?

Yeast infection?
Mar. 28th, 2006 12:55 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I had sex for the first time on Saturday night. Saturday, I was very sore. Today, I am still very sore, and it looks like my vagina is falling apart. Seriously. What is coming out of it is not clumpy. It cannot be described as anything but fibrous. It seems like the sides of my vagina are shedding dead tissue, kind of like you would get if you bit the inside of your cheeks. You can't pull it apart either; it is literally like pieces of the inside of my vag are falling out. Besides for the pain of several cuts I obtained, and pain from being stretched out, I am not experiencing any discomfort, and the discharge doesn't smell at all. This is surprising because I normally have a pretty distinctive smell. I am also worried that I could have had a bad reaction to the latex from the condom, perhaps?
I drink craploads of cranberry juice, I peed after I had sex, and I have never had a yeast infection before. Does this sound like it could be one?

planned parenthood

Hey guys, I'm usually a lurker, but I just had a question.
I just sent in a request online for an appointment at Planned Parenthood for an annual exam (I haven't had one in about 2 years) and to be tested for STI/STD's, just to be on the safe side. I've heard that it is free, but their website said it's only free for low income patients, is it expensive if you aren't? Do you have to have health insurance? What are their doctors like, are they good?
I've only gone to one gyno, and that was the doctor that came to my university every month to do check ups on the students, so I was just hoping to get some feedback from some of you that have had exams at Planned Parenthood.
I'm going to the Seattle Clinic in Washington if any of you have been there too.
Thanks in advance!

Is my nurse stupid?
Mar. 28th, 2006 09:17 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Can someone pelase tell me why after convincing my SO (and myself) that I had given him my YI before I got treated and that he gave it back to me AFTER my meds (I didn't think about getting him any meds), that my OBGYN's nurse tells me that men CAN'T get YI's or BV because it CAN'T be sexually transmitted. So are the pictures of oral thrush, and the websites that feature home-remedy type treatments for men with YI's a figment of my imagination?
Small amount of bleeding after sex
Mar. 28th, 2006 09:59 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Im not sure how long it's been going on but I bleed after sex. Its not a lot, just enough to notice pink on tissue when we're cleaning up afterwards.
I've been with my boyfriend for almost 6 years. We've always used condoms and Im allergic to spermicide, so we stopped using those types a long time ago. Its not like the sex is super rough but we don't have sex a lot these days, so when we do, things feel tighter.
I've been going to the gyno and I've never had any issues. My pap I had recently also made me bleed a little but she told me to expect that.
Any ideas why this is happening? I feel a little sore/burning if I pee after having sex but it's gone in a few hours.
Thanks
EDIT: and things are well-lubed;)

Hello there. I’ve recently started a community where people who are interested in Sterilization can go to find and share information. I hope to gather together information on types of sterilization, where to find doctors with open minds, and various other sterilization related concerns. If you’ve been sterilized, please share your experiences. If you have questions about sterilization, please ask them. Thanks!

Fear of gyno
Mar. 28th, 2006 02:23 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
So I was watching Oprah and they had a doctor on the show that said you need to go to the gyno within 3 years of first being sexually active or by the age of 21.
I'm 22, I've been sexually active for 5 years. I've never been to see a gyno. I know I should but I am deathly afraid of doctors because of a few traumatizing things that happened to me as a child (burst appendix at 2, almost dying... and having a bladder infection at 7 and a doctor had to investigate, basically my grandmother who is a major dramaqueen made it out as if he molested me and carried on about it, so that sort of stayed with me for a long time, even though I logically KNOW he was just trying to find out what was wrong with me).
I know this is a psychological issue rather than a physical issue that I need dealing with, but does anyone else have this fear of not being able to book a gyno appointment? And if anyone has overcome it, would you mind sharing your own story of finally being able to do it?

Yesterday, I realized that for the first time, I have my very own, personal, yeast infection! Most likely due to the antibiotics I just got finished taking.
I went through the memories last night and decided on doing an apple cider vinegar douche, and then the garlic treatment as I slept. When I woke up, I used a new clove of garlic (which was nicked, as was the first one). I've also boosted my yogurt (which has the active cultures) consumption. Now, because I get to see my soopar sexay boyfriend on Thursday, I wanted to kill it asap, so I bought some monastat and plain yogurt today.
Simply:
-Can I use monastat and the yogurt garlic treatment similtantiously?
-Would mixing the garlic with the yogurt make it more effective?
-How will I know it has gone away completely? (mostly, because my symptoms aren't bad at all)
-Will condoms prevent the trasnfer of it between me and my partner?
Thanks!

Missed Depo-Provera injection

I was due for my Depo shot on the 15th of this month, but my ignorant self forgot...and yesterday my period showed up, for the first time in months.
Can I go back and get the shot at anytime now, or do I need to wait? Also, how long will it take to be effective again?

Well this is my first time posting here, so hopefully you all have some sort of answers for me.
Today I was feeling kinda horny so I decided to have some webcam fun with my boyfriend. (We are in a long distance relationship). I began by using a dildo for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Then, I decided to switch to my hands. Well I inserted 3 fingers and started going at it. And after a few seconds, I realized I couldn't feel anything. I moved my fingers around...but nothing. So I moved my hand out so far as I could reach my thumb in there as well and grabbed whatever skin I found and pinched it as hard as I could. No feeling what so ever. It seems that I couldn't feel a thing inside of my vagina. I'm really freaking out that something is wrong. Like 2 years ago my boyfriend would eat me out and use really cold water and ice with it. And once I masterbated with a popsicle. So, I don't know if that might have caused any nerve damage. I just know that I'm really worried that something might be wrong with me. Also I know that when we fool around him fingering me is awesome as is vaginal penetration. But sometimes I don't really get too pleased with him eating me out unless he really uses his teeth.
Well, I can't think of anything else to mention. Help please!!!

Sorry to ask a question again so soon, but this one is a little less stupid than the last I think. Like I mentioned in my last post(s), I lost my virginity Saturday night. Afterwards, I had little cuts that bled a bit, but not bad enough to need a pad or anything. I am due to get my period on about the third of April, but it has been pretty wacky lately.
On Thursday of last week, I went to Planned Parenthood and got my first pack of birth control pills, Cyclessa. I am supposed to be a first day starter. Then today, without much warning at all, I started what I strongly believe to be my period. If I take my Cyclessa now and it turns out to be just some bleeding from the cuts, will that be bad? Will I not be protected? And if I wait a day and start my birth control tomorrow... how will that affect things?

menstrual cups
Mar. 28th, 2006 07:48 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I've got some questions I haven't found in the memories/FAQs of livejournal communities or the menstrual cup sites.
When first getting a cup, should you wash it before first inserting it?
If you clean it with rubbing alcohol, should you rinse/wash it before inserting it?
I'm interested specifically in the DivaCup and Mooncup. I really liked the sound of DivaCup but I have yet to hear a bad review of the Mooncup.
Is the Mooncup less expensive? I looked at the site (www.mooncup.co.uk) which says 18.99 euros outside of the UK, or about $23 US, plus shipping I would assume. The DivaCup comes to $35.75 US, though it's more if you order more of them (www.divacup.com).
Also: will anyone share their experiences with the shipping of these products? For instance, does a site say it will ship in 3-5 business days but didn't show up for over a week, etc.
I hope this isn't too redundant, but I've not come across what I'm looking for in the few Diva vs. Moon cup reviews I've seen. Thanks a lot for any input.

Ha. Okay.
Today in Health, my teacher was talking about estrogen. Yeah, I'm not gonna go on and tell you guys everything she said because you know all of it anyway. I asked her if birth control pills contained estrogen, and she said yes.
So...
Would taking birth control pills increase your breast size? (That was the stupid question.)
Andd... I've been wondering if I should go on birth control to regulate my periods.. cause I get it like every 2 and a half months.. and I usually only get it for 3 to 5 days. I think that's kind of normal, but the fact that I get it so rarely isn't. I really would rather NOT regulate my period because... psh, who wants their period? XD So.. would it be okay to just leave my menstrual cycle how it is? cause .. that's really what I wanna do, but if it's not safe or something, I'd rather go on BC..
Sorry if this sounds a little messy and unorganized and such.. =x

Massagers causing problems?
Mar. 28th, 2006 09:15 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I was wondering if any of you have any experience with massagers/vibrators causing infections. I masturbate on occasion with a Wahl massager which is different from the Hitachi Magic Wand in that it has a focused nub instead of a large ball on the end. When I first bought the massager some years ago I never had any problems with it. However recently I notice that after I use it I feel aches in my vagina and pee leaks out without me feeling it. If I go for a long period without using the massager my symptoms improve, but if I use it my symptoms are exhibited for weeks. I thought perhaps it was dirty and was spreading bacteria so I scrubbed it with antibacterial soap. However the same problem keeps occuring.
