alright, im sure this has been asked before but im really confused on what i should do.

i just switched bc's about 2 months ago to lo ovral. i wanted to skip my period this past cycle because of christmas/new years/boy issues. anyway, i talked to my nurse at prohealth and she said it would be fine to skip the sugar pills and start right up on a new pack for one month in order to skip my period.

i was supposed to get it last week and i was fine. no cramps or spotting. this week im on the 2nd week of the pills and ive been having cramping and some spotting. i really feel like im getting my period and it will be like this until i get my period. i called prohealth and the girl at the desk told me to keep taking the pills, that it should stop. but i REALLY dont want to be spotting for the next 2 weeks until my period.

so what im asking you ladies is if you think i should stop taking the pills asap, get my period over with and start a new pack on sunday? OR keep taking them and if you think the spotting will stop?

im just really afraid ill be spotting for the next 2 weeks THEN get my period and because of certain circumstances i REALLY dont want that to happen. i just want to get my period over with. so what do you girls think?

Hiya!

I just joined your community, and I have a few questions.

1) I have been having trouble remembering to take the pill lately. I've been thinking about going on the patch. Can anyone who's on it tell me their opinion of it? Right now we are still using condoms as well, but neither of us are a big fan of them.

2) My boyfriend is rather well endowed, and every time we have sex, penetration is extremely painful. If we've been having sex for awhile (a few times in a row), it's exceedingly less painful, but initially, it's excruciating. Are there ways to alleviate this?

Thanks for any help you can offer,
Diana

About 2 yrs ago I saw an ad in a magazine about a fertility inidcator that you spit on. I remembered Luna in the name. When I googled this I only found that it is now a full kit for pregnancy. Some websites I have found say this product is discontinued.

I also found this bioself website. It is much too expensive for me to order... and spitting on something sounds much more fun.

Does anyone know of a product like this which you can purchase in Canada? And which one is best to easliy measure my cycle?

I am not trying to get pregnant, but I would like to keep better track of my cycle so I can worry less.
For about a year, my period has been arriving on the same day of the month, isn't that strange? It was the 15th, then it became the 20th for the past 3 months. So I have a 30 day cycle, I have never heard of that happening.

I just went to see "The Human Body" exhibit at the Franklin INstitute in Philly, PA. It was really cool to see real-life ovaries, uterus(es), fallopian tubes, etc up close and personal. If you can make it to Philly before APril 23rd, I suggest going after 5 (when it costs $13 with school ID) and checking it out yourself. I feel I know so much more about my body now.

There is also an interesting section on childbirth/fetus development.

this may end up being deleted but I thought this was a good place to post it:

I went with my favorite aunt today to have her sonogram done for her second child. And I must say that to see life forming inside of her was extremely moving. It made me think of how special women must truly be to posses the power to create and protect a growing human.

The baby is a girl and we got to see her developing ovaries and all that girly stuff and it was just sooo amazing.

To all the ladies who have/are having children. Much respect to you

i've had this weird discharge-like problem for around three years. it began even before my i got my first period, and it has slowly developed over time and has become even more annoying, and it's beginning to affect my lifestyle. when it first began it was really light, and i barely even noticed it, until it had.. "dried", (i couldn't think of a more proper word for it) and it was very light so i didn't think anything of it. it persisted and i didn't do anything, assuming it would go away once i began my period. however, it didn't go away, and i have always been really reluctant to seek help about it. around last year, i went to the gynecologist about this, and after an examination i was told that there was nothing abnormal about the discharge. i was told that a small amount of discharge was fairly normal and in certain amounts of women it's just a natural thing that you can't do anything about, and that it shouldn't cause any harm. they gave me some kind of pill for generic vaginal infections, just in case, to see if it would help, and it didn't do anything. i went back to the gyn a few months later for some further examination, and they checked to see if the discharge was caused by an infection of some kind. they said i didn't have any infections, so they tested a small sample for anything abnormal or infectious, and it tested negative for anything at all. i finally explained to my gyn how frustrated i was about my problem. i'd been living with it for around two years, and it had been progressively getting worse and even making me feel self-conscious. it was almost like i was on my period every day of the year, except with discharge instead of blood. i was having light cramps at any point in the day, any day of the year, regardless of whether or not i was on or even nearing my period. they prescribed me for hormonal birth control pills, Estrostep, and said that it often helped with women who had discharge problems. i have been on Estrostep for around six months now, and it has not helped in the least bit with discharge. i don't want to stop taking it though, because it has made my period much, much, lighter, with barely any cramps at all, and i have become sexually active within the last couple of months. (i used to have a really heavy period with the worst cramps imaginable). i don't think the pills have affected my discharge problem negatively, but the discharge has gotten thicker (almost mucus-y) and has developed a light odor. it's becoming really really aggravating, and it seems like no one can help me or give any suggestions that i haven't already tried. i'd do anything to make this go away, but nothing has seemed to work.

thanks

Okayyy so, I started estrostep the sunday after I got my period on december 11. It was making me constantly vomit so I switched to the Nuvaring on December 30 . Since I started a brand new dose of BC, does that mean my period will be delayed? If I get my period could I take the ring out and still be protected? Ah. I'm so confused >:|
[identity profile] jennybirdz.livejournal.com
okay so my boyfriend and i have had un protected sex a couple of times, and usually he pulls out before he comes, but one or two times he left it in for a few seconds longer. (yeh, i know, always practice safe sex...=P)

now usually my period comes every 2 months or so, but since i've been having sex, its been coming sooner and sooner, so that my last period came in 30 days. but it didnt last very long, like two days of normal bleeding, and then really light stuff. like i could wear a pantyliner all day and it would hold all of the blood. i thought that maybe this was because my usual cycle was 2 months long, so the lining was differnt. (i've been having sex for about 2.5 months now.)

i've just started using the pill (for obvious reasons) last friday, and i've noticed that in the past few days my boobs are getting sore and bigger. would the pill affect my boob size that quickly?

i'm worried that

a little sperm
+
totally weird period
+
bigger sore boobs
=
little baby on its way

is it possible? or am i just going crazy?

Hi there,

Before I went on birth control, I had a really short cycle, about 20 days. (then I would have a pretty light flow, only for a few days) I've been on various birth controls for the last 5 years, (the pill, the patch, nuva ring) so have had the normal 28-day cycle that those bring. I recently went off of birth control and am wondering if I'll go back to my old 20-day cycle, or whether I might stay at 28 days. Has anyone else with a short cycle had any experience with this?

thanks!
Kae :)

I just remembered today a conversation I had with a friend when we must've been 12 or so. She was telling me about how some movie that I wasn't allowed to see had a lot of sex scenes, and that "it made her pussy twitch". At the time I knew exactly what she was talking about. Whenever there would be a sexy scene on TV, my genital area would feel like it'd twitch, and after a short while I'd need to go pee really bad. Then it stopped when I was around 13.. and I didn't my first obvious orgasm with masturbation until I was 15 or so. At the time I couldn't remember what the twitches felt like anymore, so I couldn't compare.

Now.. i'm wondering.. were those random twitches little orgasms? Or was it just the fact that I was getting turned on? does everyone experience them? Most people? only some? I mean, I already know it wasn't just me because my friend mentioned it too.. Just curious if anyone knows anything.

If I were to go to the Emergency Room for what seems to be bladder pain and uncomfortable pains in my low abdomen, do you think that they would just have me pee in a cup or would they actually check out my vagina and poke around inside? I've never been to the gyno and I'm worried that I will encounter something scary at the ER concerning my vag.
Thanks

I was on desogen for 4 months. Last week I had a period, and two days into my active pills was prescribed Mircette instead by my gyno. Since I had just ended my period two days prior, I began taking the mircette on tuesday instead of the desogen. Meaning I went straight from taking desogen one night to mircette the next because I didn't want to have to wait a whole month to begin the mircette.

My question: I am assuming I am protected immediately because I haven't missed a pill or taken one late. Is that wrong? Does switching from one pill to another warrant backup for a week? Desogen and Mircette have the same active ingredients. The only real difference that I can find is that Mircette contains less estrogen.

On a different note: I am on medicare because I have a disability. This was my first month/prescription to use the new medicare prescription drug plan I was put on a few months ago. I was concerned that even with the plan I wouldn't be able to afford my pills, but since there is a generic for mircette (karvia) I was able to fill it for only $1. This was relieving.

My labia minora look and feel smooth until I pull them and stretch the skin out... then it kind of looks rough and bumpy. Is this normal?
[identity profile] bodykiss.livejournal.com
hey

i just joined, and have some quick questions..

When I get fingered by guys, it really hurts, and is absolutely in no way pleasurable, and usually after, there is a little bit of blood in my underwear, does this mean im really tight or...?

Im also a virgin, so when i first have sex, does this mean its going to be excrutiating the first time, or possible every time?
Because I always think, if fingering really hurts, i cant imagine how ill handle sex!

thanks ladies!

This is the situation, back in 1997 I had no a miscarriage and they later discovered that I had a mess of cysts that I needed to have removed. During this time my grandma passed away so that kinda put that on hold ... fast forward to now. *smiles*
My cycles have progessively gotten worse as in the severity and being irregular. Last month it had been well over 2 months since my last cycle and it was hella hard ... I went through 2 boxes (large) of pads and tampons within 10 days. The pain was a constant 5 and nothing I took killed the pain ... it would only take the edge off and I'm still trying to get my strength back cause I'm still wiped. The pain has been pretty constant since then and has gotten to the point of taking my breath away at times. At times it is painful to walk because the pain spreads throughout my lower and mid-back, through my hips and lower to mid- abdomen. We just got insurance and it's great coverage ... I'm wondering if I should wait and try to get to see a doctor or if I should go to the ER and have things checked out. To make things even more interesting ... I am diabetic and since we have not had insurance I've had to "wing it" as far as my meds are concerned, which was going fairly well until this week when my sugars started to claim from I suppose the stress of worrying and the pain.

Anyways, if any of you lovely ladies have any suggestions or if this sounds like somethign you've been through ... please reply. I could really use some advice. *smiles*

Thanx,
Shana

Hi. I was wondering if nipple piercings can make your nipples more sensative because I have very little feeling there. Also, is there jewerely that is discret under clothing?

Hi lovely ladies! Today I found myself in the position of teaching my high schoolers about sex and all that good stuff. The girls and I discussed the "care and keeping" of their vagina, protected sex, std/sti's, all of those wonderful things. I also told them, and I hope I am correct in telling them this, that self breast exams *should* be done starting when they first menstrate (as in, doing them each month thereafter) Is this information still correct? I'm 26 and I remember this being the rule of thumb when I started menstrating. Thanks. Also, I thought this was worth mentioning. I always thought that this generation of children was much more body aware and educated about sex. I was apparently very wrong. Today one of my 15 year old boys said to me, "why do I need to use condoms? If she's on birth control, nothing can happen!" I asked him if he had thought about STD/STI's, and he said "no, the pill kills them" /headdesk/ needless to say, all of them got a little talk on what the pill can and cannot do and what condoms and can not do...

This is my first time posting... I've been really nervous about it, but I love this community and how much more I'm learning, so I thought I would now. I read the FAQ and the Archive, and the only thing I could find related to it was a question of who has and hasn't had sex on their period.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was anything I should be worried about when I do? I don't think I want to when my flow is heavy, because I'm scared of there being a big mess. Am I more prone to some sort of infection, though? I'm in a monogamous relationship, and both my partner and I are STI-Free, but I'm worried about bacteria. Is it a better idea to wear a condom? I am asking a lot of questions, but I only have one more... Is it true that your chances of getting pregnant are lowered when having sex on your period, too?

Thank you very much in advance. ♥

I’m wearing my Diva cup for the first time and I’m having a bit of a problem with the stem. I put it in once before and the stem was really poking me so I cut off part of it (up to the first little rib of plastic) but it’s still poking me.

It seems that the problem isn’t so much the stem, but that the diva cup seems to fall down over time and I can’t get it to stay in a place that’s comfortable for the stem. Should I try cutting off a little bit more, and if that doesn’t work, the whole thing? I saw someone comment on here once saying that they had cut off the whole stem and didn’t have a problem. I’m slightly worried about that though because I have a hard time getting both my finger and thumb in my vag.

Suggestions?
[identity profile] the-tiki-man.livejournal.com
Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to this community and am seeking advice. Please don't let the name of my journal fool you: I'm really a tiki woman hehe, this was originally established as a joke journal, but now I use it to mask my true identity when asking embarrassing questions such as this.

My concern is probably much more common than my own mind makes it out to be, but nevertheless, my mind is running rampant about what could be wrong with me. I was on the birth contol pill for four years (since the time I was 16). I am now 20 years old and involuntarily took myself off of it due to lack of transport to take me to fill my prescription (school was extremely stressful last semester, so I unfortunately waited til the last minute to try to pick it up and by the time I recieved it, 4 days had passed since the sunday I was supposed to take it, so I didn't want to start taking it when such a large gap of time had lapsed).

In the meantime, I did have two or three sexual encounters.

I have not gotten my period since the beginning of October. I spotted once last month for about 3 days, but that has been it as far as bleeding goes. I have taken two pregnancy tests, both have come back negative. I'd like to think that is very true since I've lost weight, my boobs have not increased in any size, I'm never nauseous and, well, basically I show absolutely no signs of being pregnant.

I called my doctor regarding the situation and she basically had nothing to say aside from, just wait and see what happens this month. I'm not exactly nervous, but it would be a giant wave of relief if my period would hurry up and get here.

My question is, has this happened to anyone before? Does your body perhaps need to naturally regulate itself after being controlled by the pill for such a long time? I have terrible communication skills and find asking anyone about this face to face very taxing and embarrassing.

I whole heartedly appreciate your advice in advance.

Thank you.

Jock itch?

My friend has this kind of jock itch on her panty line area. It's driving her crazy. Do any of you have any home remedies or anything for this? She went to the doctor once and they gave her clotrimozle (sp?), that worked for awhile but it came back. She doesn't have health insurance or anything, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

when i have a clitoral orgasm i feel a massive urge to pee really bad...but if i go to the bathroom and try...nothing...

what's that about?
[identity profile] besttocomply.livejournal.com
Hey Everyone,

I have worn tampons for every period in my life (never one single pad.) About a month ago I discovered this community (so grateful....) and thus, realized how bad tampons can be for the body and how bad they are for the environment. Lately I have been looking a lot into the mooncup and divacup. So, I was laying in my bed ordering one when I started my period and so I went to put a tampon in. I've never ever had a problem with tampons being uncomfortable or not fitting right, but now....I can't keep one in. Like, i'm not bearing down or anything...they just keep pushing out before they are anywhere near full. I don't know if maybe it is mental or something, but I just thought it was really weird...and it is definitely annoying.

On a happier note, my mom scheduled my first gynocologist appt. (I turned 18 in August 2005) and she scheduled it with the obgyn who saved my life during her delivery. I thought that was pretty neat, so now i'm even more excited!
