uber light

i spent a good 45 minutes running through the archives, and i found some useful information. but i'd like some opinions/comments to my specific query.

i've been on the pill (LevLite) for a year. my periods have been fairly normal, for the most part. "normal" meaning that they were around 4-5 days in length with a mild to moderate flow. i usually get it the saturday before my placebos or the sunday of the placebos.
but this period has been totally whacked.
it started on the friday before my placebos (i hesitate to say it even "started"... because it was just a very light brownish-red discharge). i wore a pantyliner friday, saturday, and sunday. today i started with a liner... it got a bit heavier around 3:00 this afternoon (and a little redder), so i put a light tampon in. i changed tampons around 6:00 (just to be safe), and i found that it was about half-full with a reddish-brown discharge. once again (to be safe, since i was at work) i put in a light tampon. i got home from work at 9:30 with a half-full light tampon. i slapped on a liner and here i sit at quarter to one in the morning with virtually nothing.

i'm wondering if this is something that usually occurrs after using bc for a while. like i said, i've been on it for a year. i thought i'd worked my way into a routine with it.
i'm also wondering if i should just figure that this was a really light period and call it "over"... or if i should be ready for it to hit me full-force tomorrow. i know you can't answer that bit, and only time will tell... it's just weirding me out a bit.

i suppose i should also add that i'm sexually active. but, like i said, i'm on the pill and we use a condom every time.

thanks in advance.
you are all so kind.

Wednesday (tomorrow) i have my gyn appointment for some abnormal vaginal discharge. The problem is, will they take tests? take a peek down there? I'm on Ortho Evra (the patch) for about 8 months now and the last time i had an exam was in November last year.

I am concerened that if they take samples to be tested, will it matter if i take a shower 1-3 hours before the appointment? I know having sex is a no-no because we have no idea what this thing is, so rule that one out, but would taking ashower to clean it all off at least an hour before enough to let them test some samples or will it affect it?

should i take a shower before the exam or after it? if before, is there a time frame for it?

My tights today were ill fitting, and now I'm mildly chafed. Any quick fixes or words of advice to speed healing?

thanks!

hey, ladies, this is the first time i have ever posted on here :)

i just have a quick question. i live in philadelphia and i'm planning to move out to california where it is three hours earlier. i am on yasmin and i take it at 10 every night.

when i go out there to visit, i suppose that i should take it at 7, because that will be 10 here. but when i move, i'm going to have to change so that i am taking it at 10 every night again, which leads me to my question: if i am going to change the time that i take my pill everyday, when should i do it? i'm guessing i should do it after the placebo stage, just as i start a new pack, but i'm not sure. basically i want to be sure that i am still protected even as i change the times that i take my pill.

thanks in advance, girls.

Ever since I returned to college this month, I have been forgetting to take my pill (Orthro Cyclon). Usually I'll remember an hour or two later, but yesterday I missed it all together, which I've never done before. I only see my boyfriend once every couple of weeks, and last weekend we had tons of unprotected sex. In truth, my boy has a genetic disorder that usually creates infertility, but he claims to still have the ability to get me pregnant. Next week I finish my pack, should I get a pregnancy test?

Also, I haven't had my period in two months due to the pill, but I see my boy next week. If I'm not pregnant should I let myself bleed? I'd rather not be having bloody sex.

Pardon me for being blunt, but!

There are small orange chunks [about the size of bread crumbs] in my poo. PLEASE say this is just cause of something I ate! If not, WHAT?!

I got yet another yeast infection, called my doctor, and he called in a perscription for me. I'm SO happy that they came out with a non name-brand version of diflucan, it's only $10 rather than $30 for my pills! And I wasn't sure how the medication would affect my birth control, but the pharmecist told me it is antifungal and not antibiotic so there's no problem. YAY!

I also have a question about the cause of my yeast infections. I used to get them a LOT. I've probably had somewhere close to 10 yeast infections over the past 3 years. The last one I had was maybe a year ago (and was a strange situation-it happened the day I got my period so the period took care of it for me). But it seems to me that every time I have gotten a yeast infection, there has been contact between my boyfriend's spit and my vagina (a few times I am sure it was due to working out for long periods of time in humid, hot weather). Which leads me to beleive that the former is the cause, so we usually try to avoid this situation. He does take an asthma medication that can cause him thrush, but he brushes his teeth all the time to prevent this, so I don't even know if that is a facotr. I must have a super-sensitive vagina, because I eat relatively little sweets, I always wear cotton underwear, I never douche, and these yeast infections keep coming back to haunt me!

Thanks for your opinions on the matter.

Back to the subject of my mood swings...I was thinking of switching to a pill as birth control instead of the ring. Both to try and alleviate my mood swings and to help out my pocketbook some. Is there any pill that contains a lower dose of hormones than the ring? Would taking some form of continous pill(such as yasmin) help me out any, since then I wouldn't have as many hormonal ups and downs? Thanks in advance.

UTI

My friend has a UTI that has developed to the point where she has blood in her urine. She does not have health insurance so she is reluctant to go to the ER.
2 questions:

1. could this develop into something serious overnight or can it probably wait till the morning
and 2. does planned parenthood deal with UTIs?

Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I do have a UTI. My office could see me today! Strange..and I guess I had a bladder infection last time, not a UTI? I have..no idea, he wasn't clear with me. I'll get that straightened out next week.

It creeped me out, though. I didn't have my usual doctor, and this guy had this like..thing that he talked into and it typed for him on the computer. He LITERALLY had to say this, "She was experiencing back pain yesterday comma but not with the previous infection period" ...should I put a period at the end of that? Ahahaha. Yeah, and they're gonna need me to pee in a cup next week at my physical to make sure it's gone. I'm on Bactrim now. Ahhh, I feel so much better. But I do feel bad about lying now. He asked me if I was sexual active (at all) and of course I said 'no'. But I understand why he asked me that..so it's not like I'm putting my health at risk. Eh, whatever.

And the whole..herpes thing. It turned out to be scabies. So no worrying there.

Once again, thanks for all of the help, ladies!

Hi all- I've started a new account to ask this out of general embarrasment, so I'm not a troll or anything. Anyway, I wondered if anyone may have heard of this? I did a google search, but came up with nada.

OK, so I am recently sexually active, using a diaphragm and spermicide as contraception (we were both given STD screens before we switched from condoms), and basically for a month or so (after 3 months of frequent sex) I am having yellowish, bitter discharge. After a day or so of not using the diaphragm/having sex, the discharge isn't colored anymore, but is bitter. There isnt any more discharge than usual, and it smells normal, just tastes awful! There's also very minor itching. Most of the medical sites (well, all) don't mention taste, just look and smell- maybe it;s odd that I tasted it, but this can't continue. I want to be able to recieve oral wothout killing his tastebuds, here!

Anyone have any ideas as to what this may be? Experienced it before? My theories are either it's an allergic reaction to the diaphragm/spermicide, something because of over-irritating it by having a lot of sex, or some hideous infection...

help me please!

UTIs

Heyyyy, I've had two bladder infections, both of which occurred this summer. I went to the ER last week for an unrelated problem and had to give a urine sample, and the doctor mentioned that there were cultures in my urine. I've been noticing UTI-like symptoms since this weekend but it's completely bearable, not severe at all, and drinking water makes symptoms go away, I just don't think I've been drinking enough consistently enough for all symptoms to go away. Now, if I drink enough water and am taking acidophilous (I'm totally not going to check the spelling of that) supplements and my symptoms go away, this is OK, right? I think I'm pretty aware of the symptoms of it spreading to my kidneys, but if it did that, I would have a full-blown UTI, correct? I just DO NOT want to get more antibiotics and really feel that I have this under control, but it is possible that I can kick this with water and acidophilous, right? Thankssssss.
