I got yet another yeast infection, called my doctor, and he called in a perscription for me. I'm SO happy that they came out with a non name-brand version of diflucan, it's only $10 rather than $30 for my pills! And I wasn't sure how the medication would affect my birth control, but the pharmecist told me it is antifungal and not antibiotic so there's no problem. YAY!
I also have a question about the cause of my yeast infections. I used to get them a LOT. I've probably had somewhere close to 10 yeast infections over the past 3 years. The last one I had was maybe a year ago (and was a strange situation-it happened the day I got my period so the period took care of it for me). But it seems to me that every time I have gotten a yeast infection, there has been contact between my boyfriend's spit and my vagina (a few times I am sure it was due to working out for long periods of time in humid, hot weather). Which leads me to beleive that the former is the cause, so we usually try to avoid this situation. He does take an asthma medication that can cause him thrush, but he brushes his teeth all the time to prevent this, so I don't even know if that is a facotr. I must have a super-sensitive vagina, because I eat relatively little sweets, I always wear cotton underwear, I never douche, and these yeast infections keep coming back to haunt me!
Thanks for your opinions on the matter.
