go or cancel?

I have a gyn appt for an annual this morning at 11. As I understand it, having done this before, when you get your period, you don't go see the gyn; you reschedule. Thing is, I'm not sure if I'm having my period or if a guy uh, "broke" me.
Saturday night, I had sex with a guy who is both bigger and more *ahem* vigorous than I've had in a long time. During sex, I started bleeding, not much but it was fresh. Later when we tried again, I got quite sore so we stopped. I assumed it was from the sex, as my period is not due until the middle of next week.
I have been bleeding since, not much, just a regular drip of bright red, fresh blood, which conveniently stops overnight and starts again in the morning. :P This is not a normal blood flow for me during my period. For one thing, it's never bright red blood.
Possible explanation, a week ago Saturday, I took Plan B. I did see some mention of blood in the information, would it bring on my period a week early and change how it normally, uh, comes out?
To complicate things, I am both still a bit sore inside and a bit crampy.
It's also rather weird that I would start a period during sex. For me, sex usually delays my period.
So, should I think its a period and cancel today's appt or go and see if I got oddly wounded during sex?
