This is a real long shot since there's nobody even in
iud_divas who has one of these (yet) but I'm wondering if anybody here uses a Gynefix IUD. It's only available in Europe and has been developed as an alternative to traditional T-shaped IUDs. It consists of a string of copper beads which is anchored to your uterine wall by a thread. There are two sizes available; one for women who have given birth and one for those who haven't. Unlike ParaGuard, Gynefix doesn't make your periods heavier or more painful. I'm extremely interested in finding out more. I have an appointment at my local FPA clinic (I'm in Scotland) this Thursday to talk about IUDs and I thought that I had settled on having a Mirena inserted. I love that it's slightly more effective than a tubal. However, I have concerns about Mirena due to Progesterone only BC (depo) aggravating my depression. I've been assured that the dose of hormones in Mirena is minute compared to Depo and that the progesterone stays mainly in your uterus, but if I could avoid hormones completely that would be ideal.
Anyway, I'm very interested in Gynefix and so far I can only find one decent site about it. Any personal testimonies from women who use Gynefix would be very much appreciated. I'm also interested in hearing from women who use Mirena, particularly those of you who had problems with Depo and depression. Thank you!
