spotting?

Hello everyone!

I'm a first-time poster, but have found this community very helpful and friendly, so I thought I'd come here with my question:

My period has always been very regular, until recently. There was one night when I was very upset (violently sobbing, etc.) and I got a little bit of blood. Then a week or two later my period came, at least a week early. That happened about 3 weeks ago, and now for the past two days I've had very minimal amounts of bleeding.

I know that spotting is always a bad sign, and this worries me. I should probably add that the past couple/the next few months can easily be defined as the most stressful time in my life to date, which may have something to do with it.

Thanks in advance!

I'm giving serious consideration to "getting the downstairs pierced," as a friend put it. Specifically, I'd like to get my hood done first, just for an idea of what genital piercings are like, and then hopefully try to get my clit done. But I have a few questions:

-Can my clit be "too small" to get pierced?

-Will having a vertical hood make also having a clit piercing difficult?

-Are there any piercings that go through both the hood and the clit at once?

-While I know it can be uber-orgasmic, and just kind of mundanely orgasmic, I've also heard rumors it can
damage the clit and detract from pleasure. Is this true?

-I hate underwear. A lot. And I don't really wear uber-tight pants, but I do have a couple pairs with a seam that rides close to the crotch. Should I consider wearing underwear, at least with these pants, to prevent snagging?

-To anyone who has both a nipple and a clit piercing: is the pain comparable?

Hey -

I've noticed that some of the members of this community are moms, and I've created a community called [livejournal.com profile] hardcore_moms, it's for modernist moms who don't really follow the "norms" of society, and neither do their kids. I'm basically trying to make it an info-sharing, question-asking, advice-giving community that's open-minded (like this community). It's all about anything from postpartum stuff (breastfeeding, vaginal healing, etc.) for new moms, to helpful hints on raising teenagers 'n' such, to where you can buy some cool clothes/accessories that you can't find in regular baby/kid stores. It's mainly for people who are sick of their mothers and grandmothers telling them how to raise their children. Dads are welcome too, if you know any. Check out the info for more...uh...info.

I'm the only member as of yet, (I just created the community yesterday) and I've started recruiting people already, so any help and/or joining would be greatly appreciated. If you're not a mom, tell any moms you know who you think would be interested.

♥ Thanks!

Since getting my Diva cup, I've sometimes had difficulty getting it to pop open once I get it inside my vaginal canal, and nothing that i tried was helping (twisting, inserting my finger parallel to the cup and "stirring," jumping around. contorting my body, cursing). Last night however, I had a little brainstorm and may have come up with something useful: run the cup under cold water for ~10 seconds or so. I had usually been rinsing it in warm water (that making it feel nicer to insert), but warm water makes the silicone very slightly more pliable, just enough more pliable that it doesn't want to pop out. Putting it under cold water, OTOH, stiffens the silicone a little and makes it more apt to pop open! This can be a little annoying if you're still getting the hang of insertion, but it's better than dancing around for 10 minutes trying to get it to pop open inside.

I ought to learn, really I should. It seems every time I wear my pink corduroys during my period, I inevitably get some spillage. Seriously. This is like the fourth time. What's up? Is there a conspiracy between these pants and my DivaCup? Ms. Diva never spills any other time; just when I'm wearing these pants!

Just had to vent.

I know there was a recent post about hood piercing, but my specific question wasn't answered, so I thought I'd add a new post. Sorry for the slight repetitiveness!
Anyhow.
I got a VCH roughly six months ago. Before then, I had a very sensitive clitoris. However, since then I have had a steady decline in sensitivity, to the point where it takes a ridiculously long time for me to climax with a partner, and it is even getting time consuming to masturbate. I have always heard that the reduction in sensitivity issue is a myth - I know a few people with the same piercing, and they haven't complained. Yet I had a discussion with an ongoing partner yesterday that confirmed my suspicions that the piercing might be the cause - he says that he noticed the change on the same timeline.
Before I just take it out (I adore the way it looks), I want to hear from piercers and people who may have had the same experience (please, not hearsay, there's a lot of that with piercing and I really just want to hear from people who are certain) to find out if this is indeed the cause of my dilemma.
And I am researching BME and like places as well.
Thanks!

hey..

a discharge with a gel-like consistency, which comes out in a rather large clump is a sign of what?

i just looked in the archives about this, and i'm thinking it may be "smegma"...but i just wanted to ask anyway to be sure, since i wasn't completely convinced.\\

thank you!

I'm on Desogen, and I skipped my period for the first time over New Year's. I'm currently on Week 3 of my new pack, and for the last two or three days I've had this brownish discharge that looks like the last few days of my period.

Based on what I've read here, I'm assuming this kind of spotting is fairly normal. Does this mean this is my period, or should I expect it next week? And if I decide to skip it next week, will I get more of this spotting or is this just my uterus cleaning itself out a little early? I really don't want to deal with my period right now, especially if it's early. Any thoughts?

At the request of a fellow member, I'm posting a note here to remind everyone to post longer entries behind an lj-cut tag (that link will tell you how to do it if you aren't sure). We get so many posts every day, so to make it easier on everyone's Friends Lists, let's try to be conscientious about remembering to use the lj-cut tag.

Thanks!

hey, im new. :)

I have an issue. I was introduced to masturbation at a YOUNG age, but not like fingering myself or anything internal, just like "jacking off" for women i guess. I would rub my clit really fast until I orgasmed. I did this a lot for like a long time lol. Probably like 6-8 years. I also would go under the water faucet in my shower and stay there for like 15-20 minutes until I orgasmed and ive done that like, a dozen or so times in my life. With all that clit stimulation in my life, i think its caused my clit to stretch. And maybe im misinformed but is the vulva the two lip like structures inside the actual "lips" or is that the clit? anyway, the right half is quite a bit bigger than the left and darker. Is this unhealthy and VERY not normal? Im thinking about having sex soon but I dont want my boyfriend to think I have some strange disease that makes my clit/vulva huge and weird. Was is actually stretched out? or are all vulva/clits weird and unsymmetrical? please help, im self concious about it :( not to mention I feel ashamed to maturbate because it seems almost looked down upon when teenage girls do it. help me.

Hi guys. I have a question. I had a bit of a pregnancy scare, and I got my period a few days ago, and it was only a day or so late. This time it's different though. I had no cramps whatsoever, and my period is very light. I keep hearing that sometimes bleeding occurs during the first month of pregnancy. Someone help me out with this. Also, if I take a pregnancy test now, will it give me accurate results??

I was wondering if it hurts to have sex during your period? There is a possibility that I was going to have sex tomorrow, but it looks as though Aunt Flo will be visiting...I have heard that some women don't mind (even though I think it would be pretty messy...). The boy is pretty well endowed, so I'm wondering if wearing a tampon would be a bad idea. Is it better to do this in the shower? Help me out. Thanks.

Alrighty, I have a question about 'missed' birth control pills, I'm thinking that here would be the place to ask it. I'm on Triphasil, 28 day packs, don't know if the type of pill makes a difference. Anyways, as for a 'missed' pill, what's the time frame? More than an hour after you normally take it? I've heard answers from three hours to a day, and am wondering what it really is. Any help would be appreciated. :) Thanksmuch!

[EDIT] Okay, so I found out a bit more about it. Apparently, if you're more than three hours late if you're taking the minipill (progesterone only pills, I believe, I'm not very familiar with them), you have to make sure you use backup method for seven days afterwards. And thanks to those of you who said that 'missing' is more than 12 hours, very much appreciated. I've discovered that to be true as well. I'm on the combined levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol pills, and was wondering if missing by two hours would make a difference; I'm very new to the pill. Thanksmuch to you all. :)

so please direct me if i skipped over something.

ok, here's my problem. for the past couple of days my pee has been consistently cloudy and has a really strange smell like...farm animals or something foul. anyway, it hurts at the very end of when i pee, but the pain subsides right afterwards.

i know this isn't a yeast infection because i've had one of those before...and i don't think it's a UTI, because it wasn't like this when i had that...but i could be wrong.

so, do you ladies have any idea what this may be? i have an appt. at the clinic tomorrow anyway, so i'll ask there, but i'm just curious if there are any sites that have a list of infections and their symptoms or anything like that...or if any of you have experienced this and knows what it is.

thank you in advance for any help or direction.

Boric Acid. Where do I find it? I drove around for over an hour today looking at the drug store, the grocery store which has an extensive natural health section, and finally the GNC at the mall, and I could not find the stuff. Where do you get yours?

being late

Here's a question for you ladies. I don't think I'm pregnant or anything, it would be an off chance since we use condoms as well as BCP. My question is...how late is late enough to cause concern? I have a gyno appointment the 19th of this month, so if I just don't get my period this week, should I mention it then?

I am sure those of you that have been around long enough know what I am talking about, and if not, please feel free to ask all the questions you want.

As someone that has always had a hard time wearing tampons, pads were my only option, but after trying the Diva Cup, I will never go back!!!! I am not really sure how I have lived without my whole life.

As I was driving from Dallas to Austin this afternoon, I got to thinking.....If I had the unfortunate chance to pass away pre-menopause, I hope that I would have my Diva Cup in, as the one thing I want to take with me when I am buried. (I know, that is a really morbid thought, and I pray that it does not happen that way, but I thought I would share anyway!!!)

To those of you thinking about getting a menstral cup, I say, stop thinking and go for it!!! With Diva Cup, you have a years money back guarantee, so, what have you got to lose??

I will stop my rambling now.....

I just finished my period yesterday and I noticed something. I know blood is supposed to have a strange metallic smell to it, but mine smelled downright salty. The few days before my period, I was craving salt. I even added it to my hot chocolate! Does anyone else crave salt and do we generally lose a lot of sodium during our periods?

Normally, I can't stand salt any other time of the month.

i have a problem...well, another problem. i have psoriasis (an itchy rashy skin condition thats hereditary). i've got it in bunches of little spots..one of which is right next to my anus. fun huh? well my entire anus now is really itchy....itcy to the point that i'm scratching it so much its bleeding a little. my psoriasis creme is a long-term solution...sort of. there really isn't a cure for psoriasis. the creme makes it less aggrevated for as long as i use it, but when i put it on it doens't make the itch go away right then and there. it actually makes the itch a little worse for a few mintues.
now, having an itchy anus isn't as fun as you might think...and i had a tube of vagisil on my desk from a recent nasty yeast infection and i was wondering if i could use the vagisil on my anus. it says its for painful burning itch...and its not like i'd be using it like a suppository and sticking it up my bum or anything, just around the anus. i have 2 questions...first of all, do you think it would help the itch? secondly, is it safe to use there? i would think so as long as i make sure it doesn't go *in*....just around. so....would it be safe enough to use as a temporary itch releif?

I made absolutely sure that there wasn't anything similar to this question, so here goes nothing.

The other day, I was "poking around" in the shower during my usual cleaning ritual and touched my cervix. It felt smooth and firm. I shrugged and thought, "Huh. So that's what a cervix feels like," and went on with my washing.

Yesterday I had sex, and last night when I got home and took a shower, I poked around again and realized that my cervix felt different, maybe even slightly "open." It didn't feel "closed", firm or smooth like it had before.

Is this normal at all? I read online that the cervix only opened during periods and when you ovulate. I'm on The Patch and my period was last week, so is there any other reason that it would be open? Can having sex cause this?

I can't get an appointment with my gynocologist right away, so I'm pretty much stuck worrying.

For the record, I'm free of STDs.

hi! i have a question about heavy periods and birth control pills. i just started taking ortho tri cyclen about a month ago and am currently on my placebo week. i started my period yesterday, the 4th day of placebo pills. the thing is, this period has been unusually heavy for me with bad cramps. this is not normal for me, as i usually never have cramps and do not have heavy periods. however, my last period (before starting birth control pills) was both unusually light and unusually short. so my question is, do you think my heavy period this time is due to the fact that i had a very light one last time (and so need to bleed more) or could it by any chance be due to the birth control pills that i just started? thanks so much for your help!

Hey, i posted earlier about using monistat during the day (NOT A GOOD IDEA) so ended up having to buy a new one. My question is can I use it now even though I have my period and just use a pad insteed of a tampon(which seemed to soak up the monistat last time)? Id much rather use a tampon, but i guess whatever works better.

thanks again
katie
