it's been awhile but what i remember the experience was fine. Went to planned parenthood, they took a pregnancy test since it'd been awhile for my period then gave me the pills. You take one right away and then the other so many hours later. My period came and was a normal period for me. Didn't have extra cramping or anything.

so my experience was fine =)

hope it helps

You've heard awful things? Strange.

My experience was great. I had underprotected sex (we primarily used Fertility Awareness) during a time of the month that I shouldn't have - I was almost certainly ovulating. I went to Planned Parenthood the next day, told them that I needed Emergency Contraceptive. I was a walk-in, so I waited for a bit, went in with the nurse, explained the need and told her my last period dates (etc, etc). She gave me a packet of the EC pills (I paid $12, because my PP is sliding-scale) and some condoms. I left, paid, and went and took both pills at the same time.

I had some mild cramping and a little bit of nausea, but I get those before my period, anyway. The miscarriage I had at 19 was much, MUCH worse. All and all, it was certainly a painless experience.

I haven't taken it, but I am going to assume it effects each person differently, just as the pill does.

Everyone reacts differently to hormones, medication, etc.

i haven't taken it, either, but i would imagine it's not as scary as having a baby would be!

i was fine, physically, when i took it-- no nausea, or anything of the sort. although, mentally i was scared shitless :/ oh, & having to wake up at 3 in the morning to take the second pill was a bit of a bugger! <3

i have taken it a couple times

mine was the type where you took 4 BCP, then 4 more 12 hours later. The first time, i was scared to wait too long to take them because they're more effective the earlier you do. however, i took them around 4pm which means i had to wake up at 4am to take the next dose. not pleasant. i had a bad experience with that one. i'm not sure of the exact timing of it all, but i spent a good deal of the wee hours throwing up, so much so that my mom's "my kid's in trouble" radar went off and she came to check on me. i had to claim i had a stomach bug.

the next times i took it i was smarter about timing. it helps a lot not having to set an alarm for the middle of the night, and also to make sure your stomach has something in it. apart from the first time, i had no problems except a little nausea.

I remember taking it, and it not effecting me too bad. No nausea, or any of the side effects listed. I took one at 4pm, then 4am, to allow me to sleep through most of anything if they did occur anyway.

My next period, however, was late and *really* heavy. Super heavy for two days, and pretty damn heavy for 4 more. No cramping, no pain, just heavy.

All in all not so bad and I have no regrets in taking it. I would recommend it as well. Just know that everyone will have different experiences, your period may be heavy, light, early, late, or missed. :)

Good luck.

i want the shoes in your icon (totally off topic)
but on topic- ec was great to me. i got moody, but it was way better than getting pregnant.

i took plan b, and had almost no problems with it. i know friends who got very nauseous because of it, but i really didn't have a problem. i think my hormones got a little wacky, so my skin broke out some (i have extremely sensitive skin). and my period came around a week late (the clinician said it could come a week early or late). i would definitely recommend it, but get the info and make a decision that is most comfortable for you.

good luck =)

The worst that happened was some nausea, lasting about four hours after each dose. I was too nauseated to eat dinner, but I went to bed and when I woke up I was fine.

That was the worst of it. Nothing to be scared of, believe me.

The worse part of mine was waiting in the PP all day. I didn't have an appointment, I just walked in, so I had to wait for them to squeeze me in. When I finally went back, I spoke with a counselor, who told me exactly what the Plan B pills would do, she asked if I came there on my own free will, asked if I was interested in any other alternatives, or if I wanted to know my options incase Plan B didn't work. After that I got pregnancy test (through blood work), they gave me the Plan B pills, a prescription for BC and scheduled me for a follow up in 2 weeks.

wow. i made a same-day appt with PP and didn't have to go through nearly that much. They basically called me back, took my BP and weight, asked me a couple questions, told me about the meds and sent me on my way. no tests, follow ups or anything. interesting how different our experiences were.

though i did wait for 2 hours, even though i had an appointment...*shrug* small "price" to pay for not being pregnant.

Ya know at the time it didn't even occur to me to call first. I was so deathly scared that I was pregnant I was kind of in a daze.

The staff was so cool, I continued to go there as my reguluar gyn until I moved far away.

I used Plan B and had no problem at all. With Plan B, you take one pill first, and then another 12 hours later. I didn't have any side effects at all, no nausea, heavy period, breakouts, or anything out of the ordinary. But as another poster said, everyone's body reacts differently to the hormones. At any rate, I'd rather have unpleasant side effects than an unwanted pregnancy. Good luck!

I broke out,was slightly more sensitive and had a headache...plus I really wanted sex.

It's worth the peace of mind, though.

I've taken it 3 times. All of them I've felt nauseous, had a nasty, woozy head and generally been pretty uncomfortable. I believe that it was worse when I was a teenager. I think I took it a couple of times at around 17, and once quite recently, at 24.

The worst part was some of the awful experiences with doctors I've had. One told me I couldn't have it because I was on my period at the time and thus was very unlikely to be pregnant, and another that the pill isn't 100% effective, and if I was still pregnant afterwards my baby would have a high chance of birth defects. It's also the law in the UK that young people have to be asked some rather patronising questions about their sexual behaviour before they can be given the pill. So grit your teeth for that kind of judgemental behaviour from health professionals. Well worth the £20 to buy it over the counter!

It's worth pointing out a few stats for the treatment, tho this is all just stuff I've picked up and remember from school, so may bot be entirely right. The more time that passes after the unprotected sex the less effective the pill is (my recent experience of buying the pill in a pharmacist I was encouraged to go to my doctor and get it for free - which would have meant waiting hours - without the danger of letting time pass being pointed out), and the first pill needs to be taken within 72 hours. If you throw up one of the parts, the whole treatment may not be effective, I've seen kind doctors pop an extra pill into the box just in case.

I took Preven in November. Don't have a horror story, per se, but it made me really moody. My boyfriend cited that my boobs increased in size as well. But, results vary in reaction.
