[identity profile] angelsweep.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vaginapagina
I've been more ill than usual (I have severe fibromyalgia, and suspected endometriosis and IBS) I been having more bowel trouble than usual, and also started urinating excessively, my vaginal discharge became very heavy all month for several months, then 3 weeks ago turned greyish-tinged green, that freaked me out so I went to the doc, got some tests, doc suspected a UTI as the dipstick test showed blood, and I had some vaginal swabs and a pap swab, and the nurse agree the discharge was very abnormal, but when I got my lab tests back, and it couldn't find any UTI, there was trace blood in my urine.  The nurse who did my swabs said it wasn't inflamed inside my vagina, but I did have an abnormal grey-green very clumpy thick discharge that was like an STD, or a cross between thrush and BV.  My swabs came back negative for the STD they tested me for (no surprise since I haven't been sexually active in over a decade), and was not clear on whether I had vaginitis either, only that I had elevated yeast and bacteria cells.  The antibiotics I'd been taking for the presumed UTI for over a week, were not helping at all, and I am only get worse, with pain and pressure in bladder, bowel, lower back and abdomen, frequent urination, and urgency.so I rang the nurse again, and told her my urinary symptoms were getting worse, and the vaginal symptoms had not abated, she talked to the doctor, and he told me to stop the antibiotics and use a thrush cream as well as another antibiotic in case it was also BV.  My discharge is still greenish-grey, but now is tinged with blood, but is not yet as excessive, I just had my period that finished about four days ago, I don't usually get spotting after a period, and its bright red and fresh, its a tiny amount though.   I used my first application of thrush cream last night, and woke up with burning stinging pain inside my vagina.  It went away after a few hours. I haven't started the other other antibiotics yet. I stopped the cranberry and previous antibiotics today, and don't seem to be urinating quite as much, and am trying to drink less even though I get thirsty often. I have pain and cramping in my pelvic area and lower abdomen.  A tender bruised feeling in my lower back, and burning muscular like pain all the way up my back and around my chest (that could just be my fibromyalgia.  When I eat I bloat, and it increased the pain and pressure in my bladder, I can't eat as much as usual without feeling full.  My doctor is not going to do any more tests for now, and instead the nurse has booked me into a sexual health clinic in two weeks.  This has been steadily getting worse for months.  Please, I am really frightened and so depressed about this.  Has anyone had anything like this related to vaginitis?   Also my back pain is getting worse, particularly around my kidneys, though I think it could be muscular - perhaps a fibro flare up.  I don't have burning when I urinate, although occasionally I have some slight burning around my uretha and inside my vagina and throbbing.  Also the new antibiotics I was given scare the hell out of me when I saw they can cause pulmonary fibrosis among other things. My appetite has reduced, probably because I am depressed.

Bit of a long shot, but maybe it's diverticulitis? My boyfriend has it and when he had a flare-up (a bad one that resulted in a blockage), some of his symptoms were UTI-like because he had an abscess that pushed on his bladder. I am sorry you're going through this and hope you get some answers!

Kidney infection, which is running you down and changing your chemicals enough to cause discharge? They can wander on low grade longer than you would think.

I was thinking this too.

Can you find a different doctor? Perhaps a Gynecologist or Urologist?

It could also be interstitial cystitis. If there are Hunner's Ulcers in the bladder, there could be blood in the urine. When my IC flares up, it really affects my IBS.

No worries! It looks like it is standard now - before it looked a bit small. Thanks for editing your subject line, too.

As for tags, only maintainers can add tags, so don't worry about that. :)

I'd second looking in to Interstitial Cystitis. It's not uncommon for IC patients to also have Fibro which is what initially made me think it might be IC.

I have IBS, IC, and Endo. When one acts up, they ALL act up. It wasn't until I was treated successfully for each that my bowels/bladder stopped turning on me (most of the time).

maybe you should try the ic diet for a while and see if it helps you at all. if it does then it probably is ic.
