I get super uncoordinated right before my period starts. It's due on Thursday and I have been dropping and bumping into things all freaking day. I have a vague memory of hearing something about this a long time ago -- is it related to my period? If so, anyone know why? Not really important questions, it's just interesting and I'm curious.

I don't know why it happens but I definitely have the same thing!

It's been a very long time since I did the research, but I do remember that it has to do with rising levels of hormones like relaxin. The study I remember reading was done on athletes and injuries.

I first heard about this a few months ago. I was having a clumsy day and my coworker asked if my period was coming. I was like "whaaaat?" I don't know if there's any validity to it, but it's definitely a belief that's floating around out there.

I definitely feel like I'm clumsier just before my period. Have also heard that PMS can make you clumsy, but don't know of any science behind it. So, I feel like it may be a thing, at least for some people. I expect it's hormone related if it is, as hormone changes can account for a lot of weird things happening in the human body.

All I know is that Clumsiness is listed as one of the possible symptoms I can track in my iMenses period app. I was just looking at that yesterday and being a little O.o? about it. But the Relaxin thing sounds familiar too, so I dunno.

Your body shifting gears toward a bleed can cause a number of changes in other areas. Clumsiness is one of mine too. It also happens when I'm extremely tired, which leads me to think it's related to those relaxation brain chemicals (the names of which are escaping me right now because it's 2 AM and *Surprise* I'm tired). That said, I can occasionally combat it with a jolt of natural sugary foods like fresh berries or a couple of carrots. Not sure whether it's the natural simple sugars or the vitamin/mineral boost that helps me, but it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on what you're eating and include some healthy options on your PMS days (yogurt with breakfast to help with GI symptoms, a mid-day snack of roasted nuts for the salt cravings and a protein spike, etc.).

Yep. Both my acupuncturist and a physical therapist I saw for a bit both said this happens. I also get forgetful in that "I came in this room...but why?!?!" kind of way.

Oh, I get that SO often as well. The day before and the day it starts I'm a hazard to myself and others. I work with live bees and sugar-water, so the results can be sticky/messy, unnerving or both now and again! A previous girlfriend I had reported the same thing, so I think it's not uncommon.
