Hi ladies.

I'm currently on a generic of Ortho Tri Cyclen called Tri-Sprintec. I have been on it for 5 or 6 months now, and in the past 3 months have experienced cramping during my active pills. They seem to start on my second active week, and continue until my placebo pills. It worries me because sometimes I think I may be ovulating on the pill, even though I know the pill stops ovulation completely. Is this normal?!

It's not impossible to ovulate on HBC, though it's not common (and there is still a lot of protection from the cervical mucous changes that HBC causes). Did you have ovulation cramps before you went on HBC?

If ovulation cramps aren't something you usually experience when not on HBC, it might be a reaction to the rising levels of hormones in a tri-phasic.

Or it could be that you are mildly allergic to one of the inactive ingredients/colorings for the second week, and it's making your intestines unhappy!

Whichever of these it is, it's probably worth talking to your doctor and asking if this is worth getting on another pill for. (If it's unacceptably distracting/painful, then a new pill would be worth trying.)

Safer space reminder

Heya! I'm writing as a VP maintainer to remind you that VP is a safe space, and that there are a lot of people in this community who don't identify as "ladies" or "girls", even if they might have similar anatomy to you. In fact, people of many different genders (http://wiki.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=VaginaPagina_FAQ#Is_VP_for_women_only.3F_Is_it_LGBTQQIA-_and_kink-friendly.3F) read and comment here and we don't want to accidentally leave anyone out so we're trying to encourage posters to use more inclusive language. If you're interested, you can read more about the reasoning (http://community.livejournal.com/contact_vp/tag/language).

This is a friendly reminder to please review VP's policies to help us make VP a nicer place for everyone. You can follow these links for more information:

--What are VP's rules? (http://wiki.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=VaginaPagina_FAQ#What_are_the_rules.3F)
--What is "safe space"? What does "empowerment" mean? What does "accountability" look like? (http://wiki.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=VaginaPagina_FAQ#Safe_Space)
--What is VP's language policy? (http://wiki.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=VaginaPagina_FAQ#VP.27s_Language_Policy)

Please don't think we're scolding you or don't want you here. We issue safe space reminders to help our members acknowledge and include everyone, and to help keep VP a safe space for all. We hope you'll continue to participate in VP with this in mind. Safe space means a lot to many of our members, and it's amazing how much we can help just by being a little more careful with what we say.

If you'd like to talk more, your thoughts are welcome in [livejournal.com profile] contact_vp or via email (vpteam@vaginapagina.com). However, we just ask that you not discuss your reminder in this VP thread, since it would draw attention away from the original post.

Thanks for understanding.
