Bleeding and cramps after sex???

Hey all. Freaking out a bit...

No I didn't just lose my virginity. I've been having sex with only my boyfriend for the last year. But today after we had sex I started getting this cramp in my left side. Now, about three hours later there's light blood coming out of my vagina. NOT period blood, my period was last week! What is this?????

Sometimes sex shakes blood loose, particularly if orgasm was involved. Alternatively, perhaps he hit your cervix? If that was the case, you would most likely have some cramping, but it should calm down soon.

As anecdata, I went through a year or so where a really good fingering, especially to orgasm, would initiate a substantial amount of bleeding. Well, it sure seemed like substantial when it was all over my partner's hands. I don't think it was any more than a quarter of a teaspoon in actuality. At the time, I was on the NuvaRing, had no STIs, and didn't even have cramping that I would later come to associate with my cervix being whacked. I'm not sure what exactly it was, and then it just stopped happening. My docs only tested me for STIs and suggested the cervix thing.

Ha, well I procrastinate a lot. (And am on spring break right now.)

If the bleeding stops by Wednesday and doesn't happen again, I wouldn't be worried. If it continues, look into triggers like STIs, cervix bumping, etc. Take more time to ensure you're turned on (more lube!) for sure. If your sex was rough, then that does suggest cervix bumping.

I don't know what else it could be, though if you're not having massive uterine pain or heavy bleeding, it doesn't sound terribly serious.

I just got up and Im still cramping on the left side :/
there was a little brownish blood but it coulda been left over from last night while i was sleeping.
I gotta be more careful lol

Or do what you always do, just keep in mind that the bleeding and cramps is a possible result.

I find that my usual PMS cramp remedies work quite well for this sort of thing.

well the cramps and blood are gone. I guess it was cause we were so rough and i was kinda dry. still kinda swollen though :/
