Hi,

I have a mirena and I use it to treat endometriosis (and prevent pregnancy). I have recently started to have symptoms again after almost three years of no bleeding or symptoms. I recall some study/article/something about replacing mirenas every 3 years for endo treatment being referenced a few times on VP and I'm wondering if anyone has a citation for that.

Thanks a ton!

What about this resource from the UK that discusses non-contraceptive uses (http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Intrauterine-System-%28IUS%29.htm)?

I know there are others. This NHS compendium might have something. (http://www.cks.nhs.uk/contraception#-283276) And [livejournal.com profile] enismirdal might have covered something in her science roundups on iud_divas (http://iud-divas.livejournal.com/tag/science).

(sorry for all the edits!)

The results suggested that the LNG-IUS reduces the pain associated with endometriosis, with symptom control lasting 3 years. (http://www.cks.nhs.uk/endometriosis/evidence/supporting_evidence/levonorgestrel_releasing_intrauterine_system)
