Pelvic Pain

Hi lovely Vag enthusiasts!

I am seeing my gynecologist on Monday but I wanted to ask a question about pelvic pain for those who have any experience with it. I can always look on a website, but I'd rather get real experience than information.

I am having pelvic pain recently. It's on the same side and the same pain every time. It's random and started a week ago. It's mixed between a dull/sharp pain, and it's sudden and very intense on the right side. It's not near the appendix; more towards where lady parts would be, and I am having regular bowel movements.
What kinds of things stem from pelvic pain?
I've never experienced this before outside of menstrual cramps, and those are different.
Have you ever had similar pain?
What did you find out?

Edit: I am not anywhere near my period. I am on the pill, but it has never ever caused me problems before. Been on the same medication for years. Nothing super new such as any changes in sexual activity or stress, really. No change in diet, either.

It's just a bit unsettling and was wondering if any of you have any information!
Thanks :3

That sounds a bit like an ovarian cyst. Those are less common on many estrogen-containing pills but not minipills or low-dose pills. If it is a cyst, those are quite common and rarely a big problem (though they can be painful if they rupture). Check with a doctor if you feel severe pain or a fever.

I think it depends on the type of cyst. As far as I know dermoid cysts aren't hormone related rather germ cells multiplying for unknown reasons. Anyway, I developed a 9cm one in a few months while on hbc.

Anyway the symptoms sound like cysts I've had. An ultrasound will tell you if you have one or not, but since its always the same side I wouldn't be surprised.

Oops, very true - I meant functional cyst. There's several other less common types as well.

I concur with the "probably a cyst." Off the pill, I often had pain with ovulation -- a sharp jab some months or a kind of dull ache on others. On the pill I don't remember this happening as often but it was over 10 years ago. As nightmer says, if the pain becomes debilitating or if you get a fever, that's a sign that the problem needs medical attention. I don't know of a good way to make it go away, unfortunately.
