Hello everyone. My name is Kitra, I'm 18 years old, living in the Bay Area, California. I was a member before under the journal name "Vickz." My posts were generally HPV oriented, since I was told that was my affliction. Later, my docs said it was just a yeast infection, now I'm being told they were two separate diagnoses (it was not made clear before). So I'm scheduled for a biopsy on Monday.. Has anyone ever had one? Can I please get some feedback? I'm *really* nervous.

I was in a serious relationship with someone for a very long time. He was tested for everything, and it was all negative. However, they don't check for HPV, the number one STD in the states. Turns out, that is what he had. Lucky me.
Anyway, I had the good fortune for it NOT to be genital warts. I have no visible signs of HPV, and never will. There are about 80 strains (according to the doctor). I got one which sort of creates abnormal cells in your cervix. They caught them, and I went through cryosurgery, and get regular check ups once every six months. This makes me a carrier for life of course, but I don't really have any problems with it. It was more a matter of me getting used to the idea that I no longer fit the ideal of "clean" since that is all that is represented in our society. Funny how everyone on TV and movies has sex, but never seem to contract a disease. Like that would make someone less worthy? Anyway, either way, it's a disease, not a statement about your morality. So if it is HPV, it's easily treated and taken care of. Arguably, I'd say if you are going to get any sexually transmitted disease, it's that one. Just go to your regular check ups and you'll be fine.
