The bf and I had an oops tonight. My period was from the 18-22.  How concerned should we be?  Do I need plan b?

I wouldn't chance it.

If you mean that your only method of contraception is condom use, and the condom failed, then Plan B is indicated. Yes, you should take it.

If you mean (as some people do) that you were using hormonal birth control plus condoms, and the condom failed, then you are still covered by the hormonal birth control and don't need to worry.

So this is cycle day 8 for you? I assume you're not on hormonal birth control? If there was ejaculation in the vagina, then it might be a good idea to get Plan B, since cycle day 8 is around the time many people's fertile time starts. If you chart your cycle and have a good idea of when you usually ovulate, that would give you more information, but it's pretty much impossible to know ahead of time for sure. I don't think I've ever been fertile that early in my cycle, but I had a long cycle and ovulated pretty late as a rule.

Plus of course the five-to-seven-day lifespan of sperm - so while she might not be fertile right this second, day 13 wouldn't be at all unusual.

No, I'm already taking the lifespan of sperm into account.

When you say "oops" do you mean your only form of contraception was a condom and it broke, or that no contraception was used? If so, then yes I would get Plan B, as it could be very effective in preventing pregnancy in that case. Plan B delays ovulation, so unless your cycles are very short it's unlikely you've already ovulated or will be in the next couple of days. Hopefully that makes sense!
